Foreign desires of unforeseen transformations
Chapter 66 – It's time
Hiccup felt suspended in time.
His trial was set for tomorrow morning.
They had packed and planned for an emergency get-away, should it come down to it, and despite his protests, his mother and the dragons were prepared to leave with them. They were ready for the worst – they hoped, and yet… Hiccup was extremely nervous and weighted with anxiety as they waited for the minutes to trickle by…
He wanted the trial to be over and done with, and yet, he wanted it never to come at all. Time was dripping by with immense sluggishness, almost to the point of coming to a halt altogether, but it was passing as if to torment him. The sun moved so painfully slow thru the window, the rays hardly moving across the wooden floor as the day progressed…
His mind was either racing with thoughts – his father, the trial, Toothless, Trid, tomorrow – or it was completely blank as he stared at nothing.
His future rested on this impending trial.
"Hiccup? Why don't we go flying?" Toothless asked him – his voice loud in the silence, yet Hiccup barely registered it.
Toothless had been watching Hiccup, worried about his silence. His mate went through the necessary daily motions, but it was as if his body moved without a soul: He woke, he dressed, he tended to Trid, he ate the food and drink that was passed to him, and he sat and stared into the flames of the fire, motionless and still…
"No. Your back." Hiccup's answer was brief, quiet, and lacked attention… he didn't even avert his eyes from the flames.
Toothless wondered if the flames held all the answers to Hiccup's questions… but he doubted it. The fire was warm and bright, it chased away the winter chill, but it was just that… a fire. He missed Hiccup's attention, and yes, he was possibly jealous of the attention the damn fire was getting.
"Wanna go for a walk?" Toothless asked a while later, trying to get his mate's attention, and trying to draw out Hiccup's personality instead of this silent husk he had become today.
"No. Trid's sleeping and…" Hiccup shook his head. He quite frankly just didn't want to go outside in the cold. He didn't want to risk bumping into anyone either – no matter that it would be unlikely that anyone was around here. That was the good thing about his mother's house… it was away from the village.
Toothless sighed in exasperation.
What could he do to get Hiccup to move? Anything would be better than sitting here in silence, watching the damn fire burn. He'd go and find Vissy or Gora … if he hadn't already spent hours with them earlier. No, he wanted to spend time with Hiccup now! Who knew what would happen tomorrow? He might not get the opportunity to talk to Hiccup for hours during the trial, and if they did end up making a great-escape then they wouldn't get any time together for a while – Hiccup always got shy in other's company, even around dragons.
Toothless smirked to himself. Yes, together sounded like a splendid idea!
"Hiccup, I have a problem!" Toothless' voice, as always today, barely reached Hiccup's ears.
"Hmm?" Hiccup still hadn't looked up from the bloody flames, the warm colours – like autumn alive and dancing – reflected in Hiccup's lost eyes, and turned them into a burning forest.
"Hiccup! I really need your help!" Toothless raised his voice, avoiding his mate's eyes as he worked on his own task…
"What's wrong?" Hiccup finally looked up … … and then he swallowed.
Toothless was completely topless, and he was currently untying his trousers. Hiccup clearly saw the protuberance forming between his boyfriend's legs, growing from wishful foresight alone – anticipation of what was to come.
"My mate is staring at the bloody fire and not at me. That's what's wrong." Toothless pouted. "I believe I should remind you of my existence here."
Trousers undone, Toothless crawled over to claim his boyfriend's lips.
Hiccup's mind was so addled that it was a moment before he even realised that he had been forced backwards, onto his back, and his lips were being desperately assaulted. He couldn't resist his fervent reciprocation once the fog had cleared… but it was almost temporary; it was funny how his addled mind, from the claws of anxiety's grip, was now being addled by what he could only explain as – "Mmm. Oh Thor, yes!"
He didn't complain however, for it was perfectly delicious!
While Toothless clawed away at barriers named clothes, to get at Hiccup's bare chest, their lips parted so as to slip the fabric over auburn hair, and Toothless murmured – "I'm going to fuck you Hiccup, and 'NO' isn't an answer this time."
Devoid of everything except his trousers, Hiccup swallowed again. He had no chance to reply, their lips had re-joined in haste. Toothless wasn't letting him get away this time.
They kissed. They moaned. Their hands roamed over warm skin as it grew sweaty with need.
And then, a flickering unwanted thought grabbed at Hiccup's mind. "Toothless!" He gasped away from delectable lips. "Someone could come in!"
Toothless smirked, an evil thought that was so arousing he almost shivered. "They could." He purred, his voice deep and infected with sheer arousal. "Let them." He whispered into Hiccup's ear, daring Hiccup to live a little.
"Toothle-"
Oh, this would be fun, Toothless thought, as he reclaimed his mates assaulted lips. Hiccup was trapped between a hot body and the cold wooden floor beneath him. He may follow Hiccup, do as he asked usually, but he was going to take control now. Right now, in this moment, it was his turn to dominate!
"Shhh." Toothless whispered into Hiccup's ear, nibbling the lobe as his mate shuddered beneath him. "They might hear you."
He felt the wave of panic that stalled Hiccup's body as his mate tensed, but his hands groped at the restrained hardness in his mate's pants, causing Hiccup to gasp away his complaints. Hiccup moaned and shivered beneath him, a slave to a deep instinctual need… pliant to his every touch.
Oh yes, he would stop Hiccup from thinking. He would remind his mate that they still had each other, and while he did that, he would take his fill of Hiccup's taste, Hiccup's scent, and Hiccup's body.
Hiccup fought a losing battle; his fears of being walked in on were still there, but damn it, Toothless could play with his body like a blacksmith could forge metal... and, "Oh", how he played. He'd taught Toothless well … too damn well.
Hiccup blinked… realising his trousers were no longer on his legs. He blinked again, gasping and panting with need, and Toothless was suddenly, and totally naked. His mind couldn't comprehend beyond the fiery touches bestowed on him … and then … Toothless was so down under he could feel a tongue inside him. "Fuck!"
Instinct drove him to massage his enlarged manhood … but Toothless slapped his hand away with a growl that only flared his arousal and made him twitch. He moaned, desperately wanting, and his hips thrusted with need to relieve the aching build up, but then, Toothless decided to flip him over instead.
"Shh!" Toothless repeated. "They'll hear you otherwise."
It was then Hiccup realised … he was facing the God damn door, on total display, and with his buttocks ready and poised in the air like a kitten ready to pounce. He mewled as Toothless played his games, teasing and licking, and when Toothless started to press into him, he tried to articulate that he didn't want anyone to walk in and see them … but he was so needy … he didn't want it to stop – he couldn't stop. "Now!" He found himself saying instead, "Please!" He was ready for Toothless to take him, to make him forget everything.
And Toothless mercifully complied – Oh, how he complied.
Scent… Toothless could smell Hiccup's arousal as clearly as one could taste. His eyes blew and his mind had one thought – to pound his mate into the floor … But NO! He blinked, fighting for control over his dragon instincts. He agonisingly slowed his pace, panting as he reminded himself to ease into his human mate. He turned Hiccup around to face him again, slipping out of him in the process.
"Toothless?" Hiccup panted, a whine escaping his lips.
"I need to see you!" Toothless confessed.
Hiccup understood all too well, but he felt cold and desperate for their bodies to reconnect. "Fuck me!" He begged, nearly crying as the promising climb they had been chasing started to recede.
Toothless slid back into his mate easily, slowly to hilt, and soon they were making fervent love – erasing out the world around them.
Their eyes held until the dam was flooded, until the pressure became dangerous … and in a blinding crash of merciful relief … the dam finally exploded.
"You're evil!" Hiccup complained, dressed, and sitting on the wooden couch against his boyfriend.
"You enjoyed it." Toothless practically purred, stroking Hiccup's messy, auburn hair.
"What would you have done if my mother had come home, or if someone had walked in on us?" Hiccup asked, he was trying not to remind himself that they'd just soiled his mother's living room floor – even if they had cleaned it up… thoroughly.
"Smiled and waved." Toothless smirked – the smug bastard!
"Seriously!"
"I am being serious." Toothless said, but then he sighed. "You worry too much Hicc. Your mother won't be home for a few hours yet, Fishlegs isn't allowed to communicate with you now due to being a council member, and anyone else would have been confronted by Vissy first."
"I stand by what I said before … you're evil!" Hiccup didn't want to admit that the fear factor was actually erotic. He had also forgotten that Toothless had asked the dragons to alert them if anyone other than his mother came by.
Toothless just chuckled. He was glad that Hiccup wasn't thinking himself into a mindless statue anymore, and he was rather pleased with himself.
"It's time Hiccup!" Valka said. She was standing by the front door, ready to leave, and she had Trid safely wrapped against her chest.
They were currently at Hiccup's house – hiding from the villagers that had, just a few minutes previously, made their own way into the Great Hall. It was time for what could possibly be the trial of the century, and they were about to leave.
Toothless thought it was a bloody shame he couldn't use sex to calm Hiccup down this time; Hiccup was pacing, about to hyperventilate, and so not ready for this.
"I – I can do this!" Hiccup stuttered, trying to encourage himself. He wondered why he'd chosen to go in last, wishing now that he'd opted to go in first.
"Yes, you can!" Toothless told him, interrupting his mate's muttering. "We can, together! We have everything set if things go bad. Vissy is ready for us if we need her, as are the other dragons. You just need to go in there and show them that you are the best thing to happen to this tribe, and that you've done nothing wrong. You have me as well!"
"You can't get hot headed Toothless, they'll–"
"I know! Don't punch or threaten anyone. I won't! I promised you, didn't I?"
Hiccup nodded, still worried that Toothless wouldn't keep a cool head. He was also dreading the accusations, the hatred, the shame that would be directed upon him… them.
"We must go!" Valka reminded them, holding open the door with one hand.
Hiccup took a deep breath and walked out the door. "Keep him safe mum." Hiccup said as he passed her, pausing to kiss his son's soft auburn hair.
"I will!" Valka said, knowing that she would give her life for her grandson. Hiccup would not be parted with Trid – she wouldn't allow it! She and Cloudjumper had hidden baby supplies in the North West Forest, behind her house, and they knew the plan if the council ruled to take Trid away from Hiccup… or if things went badly in general. "Everything will be alright. Be brave my son."
Hiccup nodded, and together they walked up the great stone steps.
So focused on walking, Hiccup didn't notice, nor pay any attention to Toothless signalling Visskara to remain hidden as she waited, nor did he noticed Cloudjumper sitting proudly off to the side of the Great Hall. Most of the dragons waited near Valka's home, but some remained hidden nearby in case they were called upon for assistance.
Hiccup took a deep breath and looked up at the huge doors of the Great Hall. They were suddenly intimidating… daunting. The Great Hall was a communal building, a place of gathering, a place of safety in harsh weather or during an attack, but now … now it held his judgment and jury, and if he didn't know any better, he'd have sworn that the doors leading to his fate were scowling and sneering down upon him.
He gulped, wanting to run, and his breathing became harder with each step … but he was a Haddock! He could do this! Besides, his mother and boyfriend would force him into the Hall if he tried to flee his fate, and he refused to be a coward.
The door creaked ominously as Hiccup pushed it open, and the immediate silence that followed as he stepped into the hall was so thick that it choked him. Despite his shaking knees and building anxiety, he held his head high and walked on.
One step at a time he walked towards the seat that was shadowed with uncertainty – the seat for the accused that was positioned before the council, and one step at a time he tried to ignore the whispers that grew louder as he walked towards his judgement and jury.
There was not a single stool nor bench that remained available, every space was filled with his entire tribe. Some people looked sympathetic, but many scowled and sneered at him as he passed. The blazing fire in the great pit, and the torches that burned in their sconces on the wall, illuminated the shame he could see in the eyes of many.
One step at a time, he kept his eyes forward, and with each heavy step that he took, the murmurs and mutterings grew louder…
"Traitor!" – "…No shame." – "I feel sorry for the child."
And, one step at a time, he grew closer to the head table, determined to ignore them all…
"His father would be ashamed." – "…Can't trust him." – "…Failure."
It hurt – every word that caught his ear, every whisper he could perceive… but then, all he heard was ringing in his ears as his eyes looked towards the members of the council sitting at the head table:
Fishlegs Ingerman – His best friend and fellow dragon rider.
He knew that Fishlegs would be fair during this trial, as did the other members of the council, which is why he was allowed to remain on the council during this trial. Hiccup knew it was also because Fishlegs knew the laws of Berk better then anyone else in the tribe… including himself actually. He had made Fishlegs the keeper of knowledge for a reason.
Snotlout Jorgeson – Another long-time friend (although, not typically a close one), and also a fellow dragon rider.
Snotlout had taken his father's place on the council last year, and for all his faults, he did his job well. Hiccup knew, he too would at least judge him fairly, and if anything, he knew that Snotlout would call attention to his faults – it was what Snotlout did best. Snotlout was also known for coming up with some 'creative' ideas for punishments… Hiccup wasn't sure if that was a good thing, or a bad thing, for him. He just hoped that Snotlout wouldn't get carried away, and would remember their friendship. He also prayed that Snotlout would realise that this trial affected the dragons too, and that he remembered his Monstrous Nightmare – Hookfang.
Idona Maciomhair – The mother of five, and the wife of Aulay Maciomhair.
She was a formidable woman, but he was unsure of her feelings towards his 'crimes'. She could go either way, and her husband was unpredictable. He had to trust that she would do her job, that she would remain impartial and fair. She was a stand in member of the council, only here because she was taking his place – after all, he couldn't exactly stand as a council member for his own trial. Idona didn't have her own dragon, but her two eldest children were part of the D'explores – the dragon explores club.
Sven – Silent (or not so silent anymore) Sven, was more a close friend to Gobber.
Sven was part of the A-Team with his Monstrous Nightmare – Cheeky Boy. His voice gave most people a headache, and he was a bit 'airy fairy' sometimes, what with his love for dancing with his sheep, but he was a good man. He was fair, questioned things others didn't think about, and he was kind. Hiccup knew the man would do his job honestly.
Gobber – The man was like his second father to him.
Gobber also knew what it was like to love another man, having been in love with his father – Stoick. Although his dad never returned his affections, never swung that way, Gobber would be the one to sympathise with him the most. Gobber was also, basically, in love with his Hotburple – Grump, the man loved the dragons. Hiccup was surprised that he had been allowed to remain on the council, for Gobber would not remain impartial – no, Gobber would fight for him.
Gothi – The village elder.
A woman that has never spoken words, the village healer, adviser, and seer. A very respected woman, and many listened to her written words (well, written words in a language that only a few could translate). Gothi would be the fairest, the most impartial, but Hiccup also knew she had a soft spot for him and the dragons. She had her own Gronckle – Sugilite, and was very fond of the Terrible Terrors that visited her hut. Axel might be the head of the council, but if Gothi wanted it… even Axel would heed her word… or be very hard pressed to refuse her.
Axel Alvarisson – The head of the council, and a very serious man.
Axel wouldn't allow nonsense, he would deal with the facts and the laws, and he would judge accordingly. Hiccup was a little worried that he would stay true to the laws most strictly, that there would be no room for matters of the heart or extenuating circumstances. The council would take into account the views and the votes of the entire village, and ultimately, or luckily in this case, it wouldn't come down to Axel's decision alone. Hiccup was slightly wary of the man, but Axel was a lone father of two, and he was a member of the A-team with his triple stryke – Braze.
As Hiccup reached the foreboding chair that had been set out for him, he noticed a second chair, with chains and shackles attached to it, positioned in front of the head table but over to the side. Its presence birthed a sense of foreboding in his already churning gut.
"Silence." Axel's voice boomed, banging the hilt of an axe on the table three times. "If you cannot remain quiet then you will be forced to leave!"
The Hall fell quiet, no one wanted to be excluded from this trial and therefore from the voting, and everyone knew that Axel was a man of his word.
"Kalster–" Axel then coughed. "Toothless. You will sit before the council so that we may be keep an eye on you." He then pointed to the chain with the chains and shackles.
Hiccup, having yet to sit down, turned to see where his lover was. There was a bench at the front, off to the side, reserved for his mother, and Toothless had followed to sit with her and his son. His panicked eyes met with Toothless', but Toothless gave him a small smile of reassurance and made his way forward as commanded.
Toothless' took the silent walk to the chair, outwardly showing no fear which belied his real feelings. He was nervous, especially when the village patrol Geirolf Gauksson, and a prison cell guard Rinckle, came over and started shackling him to the chair. They were both big, hench men.
"Sorry Toothless, but orders must." Rinckle whispered as he attached one of the shackles to Toothless' right wrist, but Geirolf heard him.
"Don't apologies to the freak!" Geirolf growled under his breath, tightening the shackle so hard on his left wrist that it would cut of the blood to his hand.
Toothless really wanted to spit into his face… or headbutt the arsehole, but he remembered his promise to Hiccup and instead, he refused to wince in pain and calmly called over to Axel. "Mr Alvarisson, is it necessary to tighten the shackles so hard that they literally cut into my wrist and turn my hand blue?"
It looked as if Axel Alvarisson was about to wave off his comment – perhaps he believed Toothless to be whining unnecessarily, but it was Gobber that rose off his chair to take a look.
"The lads right Axel." Gobber growled after shoving Geirolf out of his way, which was a feat considering Geirolf was a head taller than himself. "Geirolf obviously wants Toothless t' lose a hand." He then proceeded to loosen the shackled himself.
"I only did what was standard!" Geirolf insisted. "They're meant to be tight or else they'd slip out their hand!"
Many of the villagers were voicing their agreement with Geirolf.
"That was not standard ya great buffoon!" Gobber rose to his full height and stepped into Geirolf space. "Ya maliciously tightened that and ya know it."
"ENOUGH!" Axel shouted. "SILENCE! Gobber return to your seat!" He waited until Gobber started to walk back and then noticed the smirking Geirolf. "Rinckle, in your opinion, were the shackle unnecessarily tight?"
Rinckle hesitated only a moment before admitting that – "Yes sir, it was."
Geirolf sneered at Rinckle, but Axel diffused the situation quickly wanting to commence with the damn trial. "Geirolf, trade places with Bodge!"
"But I–" Geirolf went to argue.
"NOW!" Axel broke no room for argument. He watched the angry Geirolf switch places with Bodge, who was guarding the doors. "Hiccup Haddock, please take your seat!"
Hiccup looked over at Toothless, only seating himself when his boyfriend smiled reassuringly and nodded that he was alright.
"The shackles?" Axel asked Bodge and Rinckle.
"All in place as standard sir!" Bodge said, Rinckle nodded his confirmation.
Both Bodge and Rinckle had checked and adjusted the wrist and ankle shackles, making sure they were applied tight enough to prevent escape, but not too tight as to cause injury.
Toothless wasn't happy about being shackled, it certainly wasn't part of the plan, but at least it no longer hurt. The council had failed to realised however, that if Toothless chose to changed forms the shackles would break… not only that, but if Vissy saw him chained she would not be happy.
"Very well." Axel sighed. They had only agreed to chain Toothless since he was protective of Hiccup as a dragon, and they didn't want him to get aggressive or attempt escape with Hiccup. He was a dragon Afterall, and dragons were unpredictable. "The list of charges please, Idona."
Axel sat in his seat as Idona stood to read the charges, preparing himself for a long arduous trial. It had started out in a mess, and he just hoped the rest would go smoothly.
"Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the third, current chief of Berk, you are charged with the following crimes to Berk and its tribe:
"Failure to put the needs of the tribe before your own.
"Consorting with dragons and placing their needs before that of your tribe.
"Male buggering.
"Bestiality.
"Meddling with black sorcery.
"And failing to teach and portray, as a suitable role module, the correct morals and lessons to the next hair to Berk – Trid Hofferson Haddock.
"How do you plead?"
Hiccup knew what the charges where to be, but the one about Trid had both shocked and angered him. Yes, there were a few laws that protected a Chief from corrupting their Hire, to prevent tyrants, and other laws that stipulated what was considered unnecessary violence against children… but Hiccup would never harm his son to such a degree and he certainly wouldn't corrupt Trid against the morals of the tribe. Despite his indignation, he felt a sense of foreboding at the fact that they really were willing to throw everything at him… this didn't look good at all.
"Not guilty." Hiccup told them, and he held his head up high in defiance.
Right then, as if it had hit like a ram taking him off his feet, he realised what his family and friends had been telling him, he had done nothing wrong! This injustice, accusing him of wronging his child, and the way they had shackled Toothless, it made him angry. He would fight this trial with everything he had, and he certainly wouldn't let them take Trid.
Ignoring the rising volume of those that obviously wanted him stripped of his title, thrown in a cell, or outcasted… he turned to face Toothless. Toothless gave him an encouraging smile and nod, and he felt the last of his fears melt away. He remembered their amazing love making, remembered that he wasn't alone.
Oh yes, he thought as he sat upright in the chair, he wouldn't shiver and cower to his tribe nor the council…
It was time to fight for all that was his!
