Picking up from the Last Chapter
The battle has just picked up with Ash and Emboar battling Doug and his Aggron. Emboar took Minor damage from the Stealth Rock.
"Now Emboar, use Brick Break" Ash called, and Emboar cloaked its fist with a blade of orange energy and struck, dealing Significant damage.
"Retaliate Aggron, use Iron Tail"; Doug called, and Aggron cloaked its tail with silver energy, and struck Emboar, dealing Minor damage.
"Emboar, respond with Brick Break" Ash called, and Emboar's hand glowed with Orange energy, and struck Aggron, KO'ing it.
"Aw man, return" Doug called, and Aggron was withdrawn, while Ash and Emboar cheered.
Conclusion: Emboar and Ferrothorn win.
"Well done Ash, nicely strategised," Doug said, to which Ash nodded, and replied "Thanks". Doug then pointed Ash towards the next trainer.
The next trainer, Ace Trainer Miki, was waiting for Ash.
"I'm number nine. I'm crushing you"
"We'll see about that" Ash replied, to which Miki nodded, then said "Scolipede, let's do this" and Scolipede materialised.
"Well, I think Ferrothorn will handle this" Ash said, and Ferrothorn materialised.
Battle: Ferrothorn, Haxorus and Jellicent VS Scolipede and Arcanine
"Scolipede, use Steamroller" Miki called, and Scolipede rolled itself up and coated itself with teal energy, charging into Ferrothorn, inflicting Minor damage, and taking Minor damage from the Iron Barbs.
"That much eh? OK, Ferrothorn, use Subsutite" Ash called, and Ferrothorn used a quarter of its health to put in a protective doll.
Ferrothorn then restored a Slight amount of health with Leftovers,
"Stall strategies, great" Miki said sarcastically. She then continued with "Scolipede, pound down another Steamroller", and Scolipede rolled up into a ball, cloaked itself with Teal energy, and struck the Substitute, failing to break it.
"Ferrothorn hit back with Iron Head" Ash called, and Ferrothorn cloaked itself with silver energy and struck Scolipede, dealing Moderate damage.
Ferrothorn then restored a Slight amount of health with Leftovers.
"Not bad. Now, take another Steamroller" Miki called, and once again Scolipede rolled itself up, coated itself with teal energy, and rammed the Substitute, destroying it.
"Now, Leech Seed" Ash called, and this time Ferrothorn shot draining seeds at Scolipede, seeding it.
"Ugh, of course," Miki replied as Ferrothorn restored a Slight amount with Leftovers, then drained a Minor amount from Scolipede.
"Grr, And I can't Poison it because of its Steel-typing. So annoying. Alright, Scolipede, another Steamroller" Miki called, and Scolipede rolled itself into a ball, cloaked itself with teal energy, and struck, inflicting Minor damage, and taking Minor damage.
"Let's help end this, Ferrothorn, Iron Head" Ash called, and Ferrothorn cloaked itself in silver energy and charged into Scolipede, dealing Moderate damage.
Ferrothorn then restored a Slight amount of health with Leftovers and drained the rest of Scolipede's health with Leech Seed.
"Scolipede, return," Miki said, and Scolipede was withdrawn. Ash and Ferrothorn then cheered.
"Now, Arcanine, let's do this" Miki called, and Arcanine materialised. Then, used Intimidate to cut Ferrothorn's Attack.
"I am not an idiot, so Ferrothorn, return" Ash called, and Ferrothorn was withdrawn.
"Now, Jellicent, I choose you" Ash called, and Jellicent materialised.
"Jellicent, use Surf" Ash called, and Jellicent unleashed a wave of water at Arcanine, dealing Significant damage.
"Arcanine, Roar that Jellicent away" Miki called, and Arcanine loudly roared, and drive Jellicent back to Ash's ball. Haxorus was drawn out.
"I hope this doesn't have much health left. Arcanine, use Extreme Speed" Miki called, and Arcanine cloaked itself with white energy and charged into Haxorus, dealing Minor damage.
"Now, end this Haxorus, use Earthquake" Ash called, and Haxorus shot waves of light brown energy at Arcanine, KO'ing it.
"Well, that didn't go well" Miki admitted to herself as she withdrew Arcanine, and both Ash and Haxorus cheer.
Conclusion: Haxorus, Ferrothorn and Jellicent win
"That didn't work, I was hoping to pull Rufflet or Ferrothorn out" Miki admitted, to which Ash replied "I still would have switched, it wouldn't have mattered too much", to which Miki nodded. She then pointed Ash in the direction of the next trainer, and he followed the path.
When Ash reached Black Belt Benjamin, he said "So, you're Number ten?"
"Yep. Are you getting tired?" Benjamin replied, to which Ash responded "Nope, still going strong"
"We'll see about that. Gurdurr, let's do this" Benjamin called, and Gurdurr materialised.
"Alright, Jellicent, I choose you" Ash called, and Jellicent materialised.
Battle: Jellicent and Emboar VS Gurdurr and Scrafty
"Jellicent, use Surf" Ash called, and Jellicent sent a wave of water at Gurdurr, dealing Considerable damage.
"Gurdurr, retaliate with Stone Edge" Benjamin called, and Gurdurr summoned a bunch of sharp stones, and struck Jellicent, dealing a quarter of its' health.
"Jellicent, use Recover" Ash called, and Jellicent regenerated its cells to restore half its health.
"Another Stone Edge Gurdurr" Benjamin called, and Gurdurr generated, then shot a bunch of sharp stones at Jellicent, dealing Minor damage.
"Jellicent, use Giga Drain" Ash called, and Jellicent shot tentacles of natural energy at Gurdurr, dealing Minor damage, and restoring by a Minor amount.
"Stone Edge Gurdurr, again" Benjamin called, and Gurdurr generated, then shot a bunch of sharp stones at Jellicent, dealing Minor damage.
"End this Jellicent, use Surf" Ash called, and Jellicent unleashed another wave of water at Gurdurr, KO'ing it.
"Damn. Good work Guidurr, now rest up" Benjamin said, and Gurdurr was withdrawn.
"Now, Scrafty, let's do this" Benjamin continued, and Scrafty materialised.
"Alright, Jellicent, return" Ash called, and Jellicent was withdrawn. Ash then added "Now Emboar, I choose you" and Emboar materialised.
"Now Emboar, use Brick Break" Ash called, and Emboar cloaked its hand with a blade of orange energy and struck Scrafty, dealing Significant damage.
"Now Scrafty, use Rock Climb" Benjamin called, and Scrafty summoned a slide of white rocks, and slid into Emboar, dealing Minor damage.
Emboar then restored a quarter of its health with its Sitrus Berry.
"Now Emboar, end this with Superpower" Ash called, and Emboar cloaked itself in powerful, orange energy, and crashed into Scrafty, sacrificing a stage of its Physical stats, but KO'ing Scrafty.
"Oh no, I lost. Scrafty, return" Benjamin said, and Scrafty materialised as Ash and Emboar cheered.
Conclusion: Jellicent and Emboar win.
"You're almost there Ash, but I should warn you, the last two are the strongest. Good Luck" Benjamin said, to which Ash replied "I'll be sure to rise to that challenge"
"Good," Benjamin said, and he pointed Ash in the direction of the eleventh trainer.
When Ash reached the eleventh trainer, Ace Trainer Tom, he said "I'm your second-last opponent. Can you win this?"
"Of course, I've gotten this far, haven't I" Ash responded, to which Tom nodded. He then said "Alright Magmar, let's go" and Magmar materialised.
"Alright. Haxorus, I choose you" Ash called, and Haxorus materialised.
Battle: Haxorus and Ferrothorn VS Magmar and Mamoswine
"Haxorus, destroy Magmar with Earthquake" Ash called, and Haxorus sent waves of light brown energy at Magmar, KO'ing it in one hit.
"Holy shit, I didn't expect that," Tom said as he withdrew Magmar. Ash and Haxorus cheered, then Ash said "Magmar are very fragile on the Physical side, so it's not surprising"
"True. Let's see how you handle this. Mamoswine, let's go" Tom responded, and Mamoswine materialised.
"Nope, not taking that risk. Haxorus, return" Ash said, and Haxorus was withdrawn. Ash continued with "Now Emboar, I choose you" and Emboar materialised.
"Mamoswine, use Earthquake" Tom called, and Mamoswine unleashed waves of light brown energy at Ferrothorn, dealing Minor damage.
"Ferrothorn, use Substitute" Ash called, and Ferrothorn used a quarter of its health to put a doll in.
Ferrothorn restored a Slight amount of health with Leftovers.
"Mamoswine, use Earthquake again" Tom called, and Mamoswine unleashed waves of light brown energy at Ferrothorn, and broke the Substitute in one go.
"Quick, Ferrothorn, use Leech Seed" Ash called, and Ferrothorn shot draining seed at Mamoswine, seeding it.
Ferrothorn restored a Slight amount of health with Leftovers and drained a Minor amount of health with Leech Seed.
"Now Mamoswine, use Earthquake again" Tom called, and Mamoswine again unleashed waves of light brown energy at Ferrothorn, dealing Moderate damage.
"Now Ferrothorn, use Power Whip" Ash called, and Ferrothorn's appendage glowed green, and whacked Mamoswine, dealing Severe damage.
Ferrothorn then restored a Slight amount of health with Leftovers and drained a Minor amount from Mamoswine.
"Nail his Ferrothorn, use Earthquake" Tom called, and Mamoswine unleashed waves of light brown energy at Ferrothorn, dealing Minor damage.
"Ferrothorn, end this with Iron Head" Ash called, and Ferrothorn cloaked itself with silver energy and struck Mamoswine, KO'ing it.
"Well done, now Mamoswine, return," Tom said, and Mamoswine was withdrawn. Ash and Ferrothorn cheered.
Conclusion: Haxorus and Ferrothorn win.
"Just one trainer remains Ash," Tom said, to which Ash nodded, and said "Yep. You proved to be a step up, weakening my Ferrothorn to the point he can't exactly be used too much"
"Thanks" Tom replied. He then pointed Ash towards the final trainer, and Ash headed that way.
With Drayden and Hilda
"This is it, Ash has one trainer left. But, it's probably the strongest one" Hilda said, to which Drayden nodded, and responded "Yes. He should handle it, right?"
"I'm sure of it" Hilda replied. Then, She called "Go, Ash! Win this one! Win this without a KO"
"Hehe, I could totally imagine that happening. I just realised, Ash still has one Pokémon left to use, doesn't he" Drayden replied.
"Actually, now that you mention it, he has only used five Pokémon. I wonder what #6 is?" Hilda asked, to which Drayden replied "If it isn't Donphan or Pikachu, I will be very surprised"
"Agreed on that count" Hilde replied.
Back to Ash
As Ash reached the final trainer, he planned to use his sixth Pokémon. He had used his five Pokémon, but those five were worn down, so it was time to reveal Number six.
He reached the final trainer, Battle Girl Tiffany, who said "This is your final battle. Can you defeat me?"
"I definitely can" Ash replied, to which Tiffany nodded, then added "Now Gurdurr, let's go" and Gurdurr materialised.
"Well, it's time. Donphan, I choose you" Ash called, and Donphan materialised.
Battle: Donphan VS Gurdurr and Mienshao
"Donphan, use Earthquake" Ash called, and Donphan sent waves of Light Brown energy at Gurdurr, dealing Considerable damage.
"Gurdurr, use Hammer Arm" Tiffany called, and Gurdurr cloaked his arm with an orange hammer and struck Donphan, dealing Moderate damage and reducing its own Speed.
"Alright Donphan, use Earthquake" Ash called, and Donphan shot light brown waves of energy at Gurdurr, dealing Considerable damage.
"Another Hammer Arm Gurdurr" Tiffany called, and Gurdurr cloaked his arm with an orange hammer and struck, dealing Moderate damage and triggering the use of Donphan's Sitrus Berry, restoring a quarter of its's health. Gurdurr also had its Speed reduced further.
"End this Donphan, use Earthquake" Ash called, and Donphan unleashed the third series of waves of light brown energy at Gurdurr, KO'ing it.
"Wow, OK, Gurdurr, return", and Gurdurr was withdrawn as Ash and Donphan cheered.
"This battle isn't over yet. Mienshao, let's go" Tiffany called, and Mienshao materialised.
"Alright, Mienshao, strike with Fake Out" Tiffany called, and Mienshao's arms are cloaked with white energy, and clapped Donphan with them, dealing Slight damage and causing Donphan to Flinch.
"Now Mienshao, follow up with Drain Punch" Tiffany called, and Mienshao cloaked it's a fist with orange energy and struck Donphan, dealing Minor damage.
Ash, seeing the opportunity, called "Donphan, use Earthquake" and Donphan unleashed waves of light brown energy at Mienshao, dealing Severe damage.
"Alright Mienshao, use Drain Punch again" Tiffany called, and Mienshao cloaked its fist with orange energy and punched Donphan, dealing Minor damage and restoring a Minor amount.
"Donphan, finish this with Earthquake" Ash called, and Donphan unleashed waves of light brown energy at Mienshao, KO'ing it.
As Tiffany withdrew Mienshao, she said "Well congratulations Ash, you've completed the challenge, and without a single KO, that's amazing". Ash and Donphan, who were celebrating, Ash said "Thanks. By the way, had anyone gone through the whole challenge without a single KO?"
"Nope, Maximus was the closest with one Pokémon KO'ed" Tiffany replied, to which Ash nodded, and said "That's awesome, my strategies worked then. And I didn't even have to use Counter Shield"
"Wow. Yeah, you'd better get going and register, and meet up with Drayden, and your girlfriend" Tiffany replied, to which Ash replied "I will, and she's, oh forget it, we may pair up eventually anyway" and he headed for the registration zone.
When Ash reached Drayden and Hilda, Hilda gave Ash a big hug, and said "Congratulations Ash, that was amazing!". Ash, returning the hug, said "Aw, thanks Hilda, you did a great job too"
"Thanks, but you didn't have a single Pokémon KO'ed in any of the twelve battles"
"Yeah. Did anyone else complete the challenge without having a single Pokémon KO'ed?" Ash asked, to which Drayden replied "Nope, the closest still had one Pokémon KO'ed" Drayden replied, which surprised Ash.
"Wow, I didn't expect that. Guess I feel honoured" Ash replied, to which Drayden nodded.
"You'd better go register Ash," Hilda said, to which Ash nodded, and headed for the registration desk.
Once registered, Drayden showed Ash and Hilda to the elevator, which would take them past Victory Road to the Stadium near the Unova League.
At this, Ash and Hilda take seats at the top of the arena.
"So, are you going to add any Pokémon from older regions to your Tournament team?", to which Ash responded "Of course, I want to give myself the best chance to win the Unova League Tournament"
"Awesome. You know, I've really enjoyed our time together journeying through Unova" Hilda replied. Ash, smiling, added "Agreed, it's been a great journey, and you've learned so much"
"Yeah. I got to see all the places that my brother described, and they're all fantastic" Hilda replied, smiling. She then added "And, honestly, I feel like I've gotten close to you. A best friend, instead of just a student to you"
"Heh, that's kinda happened to me as well. I don't feel like a teacher anymore, I now feel like a close friend of yours" Ash replied, smiling, which Hilda returned.
"Oh, by the way, I do have one request," Hilda said, to which Ash replied "Sure, what is it?"
"If you battle me in the Unova League Tournament, don't hold back against me, OK?" Hilda asked, to which Ash nodded, and replied "Sure, I won't hold back against you"
"Thanks" Hilda replied, smiling and hugging Ash again, which he returned.
"Now this is a sweet moment" came a voice from behind. Ash and Hilda turned around and spotted Hilbert standing behind them.
"Whoa. Hey big bro, are you going to watch the Tournament?" Hilda asked, to which Hilbert replied "Of course, I want to see how far my little sister goes after all. See how much she's learned from you Ash"
"Cool," Ash and Hilda both replied. Hilbert then said, "Oh, Ash, actually can I please talk to you quickly?"
"Uh, sure" Ash replied, and he followed Hilbert to a nearby area.
When they reached that area, Hilbert turned to face Ash, and said "Quick question, how do you feel about my sister?"
"At the moment, I just consider her a close friend and student"
"Interesting. I can tell that she's, probably feeling a little more than just friendly towards you just so you're aware" Hilbert replied, to which Ash nodded, and responded "Cool. I've noticed a couple of these moments, so, maybe it could go somewhere more"
"Heh, that would be nice. Maybe you two should head to Nimbasa City on a date shortly after the Tournament, to see how a relationship between you two would work out" Hilbert replied, smiling, to which Ash replied "That'd be a good idea. I was actually planning on that, just, wasn't quite sure where to go for it"
"Well you can't go wrong with Nimbasa City" Hilbert replied, to which Ash nodded.
"Do you have a girlfriend?" Ash asked, to which Hilbert replied with "Yeah. My girlfriend is Iris, the Champion of the Unova region"
"Congratulations" Ash replied, smiling, which Hilbert returned.
"Well, I had better let you get back to hanging with Hilda. Thanks for the chat" Hilbert said, to which Ash replied "No problem" and he returned to the stands.
When Ash returned, Hilda was checking something on her phone.
"What are you looking up?" Ash asked, to which Hilda replied "Drayden's pointed out where we can find some accommodation for the night"
"Awesome, so we can head there, and get ready for the Tournament?" Ash asked, to which Hilda nodded.
"Sure" Hilda replied, and the two of them head for the locations indicated.
When they arrive, it turns out to be a pretty fancy hotel.
"Nice, that'll make a great home base for when we're in the Tournament," Hilda said, to which Ash replied "Sweet, let's get in", and they headed inside.
When they enter, they spot Maximus, Trip, and a few others that they knew were going to be challenging in the upcoming Unova League Tournament.
The tension was clear, Maximus and Trip still strongly dislike each other. But, at least in the presence of so many people, including Drayden, they didn't do anything. Just glared at each other contemptuously, and headed to their rooms.
"What was that about?" Drayden asked, to which Ash replied "Trip and Maximus have some history apparently, they really don't like each other"
"I figured that Clay warned me. I was hoping nothing would happen between them" Drayden replied.
"I think they have enough respect for you Drayden not to do anything" Hilda replied, to which Drayden nodded.
Then, after giving their Pokémon to Nurse Joy for healing/reviving, Ash and Hilda head for their rooms.
