During the night, Jay had gotten up when Erin was up feeding Nadia. He took a quick shower, got ready and then he kissed them and let Captain out before he left. As soon as he got to the hospital, he went to Hank's room and then Justin went home. As soon as he got home, fell asleep. Several hours later, everyone got up. Erin had come into Hank and Olivia's room to help her up and got her into the bathroom. They found the shower chair and put it into the shower, so Olivia could take a shower, while Erin checked on the kids. Nadia needed to eat, so she fed her, while Olive fed Millie and Justin fixed breakfast, let Captain out and fed him. Once Olivia was done in the shower, Justin came up with breakfast and once Olivia had breakfast, she dried her hair, put her makeup on and got dressed. Justin took his shower and got dressed. By the time he was done, Alyssa was there. Justin then went upstairs to get Olivia.
"Ready?"
"I think so."
Erin had put Nadia back to bed, so she brought Olivia's crutches down as Justin held onto her going down the stairs. Erin handed her her crutches and then Justin helped her with her coat. They left for Olivia's doctor's appointment. At her appointment, the doctor looked at her xrays the hospital had sent and then she had her cast put on. Her knee was feeling a little better. She would have to come back in 6 weeks to check on her foot. Once they left the specialist, they headed to Med, so Olivia could finally see Hank. Once they arrived at Med, Justin dropped her off by the door and went to park. She went inside to wait for Justin and ran into Sharon.
"Olivia, how are you doing?"
"Better than I was yesterday."
"Good. Let me get you a wheelchair."
"Thank you."
"No problem."
Sharon went to get Olivia a chair and then Olivia sat down just as Justin came in. Justin took the crutches and then Sharon wheeled her to the elevator. They went to the floor where Hank was and then went to his room. Hank's squad and Trudy were there when they got there.
"There she is."
"Here I am. Thanks for the chair, Sharon."
"No problem. Just leave it by the entrance when you leave."
"Ok."
Sharon locked the wheels on the wheelchair, left and headed to her office. Olivia kissed Hank. Hank took her hand and they laced their fingers together.
"I missed you."
"I missed you too."
"I'm sorry I wasn't here with you."
"There is no need to apologize. You need your rest."
"I tried to get someone to bring me but they wouldn't."
"Babe, it's ok. Really. I heard Noah slept with you last night."
"He did. These are from Lexie and the boys."
"She actually used paper?"
Olivia laughed at Hank's comment.
"She did."
"I already Skyped with them. Erin called."
"Good."
"How'd your appointment go?"
"Fine. I have to wear the cast for 6 weeks. My knee is better though. I need to go back in 6 weeks to see how my foot is healing. If I get a cast cover, I can take a shower. I did ok in the shower this morning. I'm glad we have the walk-in shower. It makes it easier than trying to climb over the side of the tub."
"Yeah, me too. I should only be here a few days if things go ok."
"Good. How are you feeling?"
"I feel good. There's some pain though."
"That's to be expected."
"You know what happened, right?"
"Yeah. Lisa told me. Adam, how's Kim?"
"She's still a little shaken up but she's grateful Voight was there and did what he did. We both are."
"Is she planning to take some time off?"
"She wasn't going to but I convinced her that she needed to."
"Good. I think Lisa was planning to take some time off as well."
Then Lisa came in with Kim. When Kim saw Adam, she kissed him.
"Hey."
"Hey."
"How are you feeling, Hank?"
"Better. There's still some pain."
"I'm glad you're feeling better. We went to talk to Lieutenant Bradley."
"How'd that go?"
"Fine. We both have to do a couple sessions with Dr. Charles before we can go back to work, so while we're here, we're going to see if we can schedule that."
"I was told the same thing. I talked to him this morning. He came in to see me when he got in."
"We're already short-handed. Now, half the squad is off."
"It is what it is. The guys can handle it."
"I know he is."
"If you need any of us to help out for a few days, it shouldn't be a problem."
"Thank you."
"No problem."
Antonio got a call.
"We need to go."
"Be careful."
"Yeah, we will."
Adam kissed Kim, Jay kissed Olivia's cheek and then they all left.
"I should probably head to the District."
"Thanks for stopping by, Trudy."
"No problem."
Trudy hugged Hank and then she left. Hank took Olivia's hand again and then Will and Natalie came in.
"Jay left?"
"Yeah. They got called to a scene. Thanks for offering to help us out."
"No problem. You're family. I think Jay is mad at me though. I kind of told our dad about Nadia and now he wants to meet her. Erin doesn't have a problem with it but Jay does. I get why he's so hesitant but he is her grandpa. Jay's response to that was his daughter only has one grandpa and that's you."
"We did talk about that. I told him that he should let your dad meet Nadia. He still thinks that he doesn't care about him and he'll treat her like crap because she's his daughter. I get where he's coming from because I never had the best relationship with this guy but he's grown up since becoming a father himself and Olivia and Olive have been good for both of us. I never had much use for Jay either but he's grown on me and I do love him now."
"After seeing him yesterday after you were shot, as soon as the ambo left, he took off in the truck like a bat out of hell to head here, I'm thinking the feeling is mutual."
"I think a part of him wishes he had a better relationship with his dad."
"Dad isn't always the easiest person to get along with. When I showed him the picture of his granddaughter, he thought she was beautiful and asked if he could meet her. I told him that was up to Jay. Something tells me, Jay is going to be stubborn about this."
"He and Erin were arguing about something last night but it didn't last very long."
"It was probably about that. After Jay and I got into it here, I called Erin and we talked about it. She thinks he should meet her even if it's only one time."
"I told Jay that I don't know what I'd do if I didn't know my grandchildren."
"I wouldn't do that to you. You know that. I doubt Erin would either."
"I know but I did say that to Jay though just to give him something to think about."
"Thanks for giving him some advice."
"Yeah."
"I need to get up."
"Just use the one in here."
"Ok."
Olivia got out of the wheelchair on her own and then Justin handed her her crutches. She then went into Hank's bathroom. She did what she had to do and came back. She sat back down in the wheelchair.
"Well, that's getting to be a bit easier."
"Now, I need to go."
Will helped Hank out of bed and moved his IV pole to take with him. Then he took him into the bathroom just as the nurse came in. Then she saw Natalie.
"Dr. Halstead helped him up. We were here anyway."
"Ok."
Will came out and shut the door.
"Is he behaving himself?"
"He is. I took care of him when he had the surgery on his knee both times."
"I do remember that."
Both Will and Natalie were needed back in the ED. Will told Hank he was leaving but the nurse was there. Hank said he needed help.
"He needs help."
"Ok."
"We'll see everyone later."
Will and Natalie left and headed back to the ED. The nurse went in to help Hank. Lisa and Kim went to see if Dr. Charles could schedule them in. Then Lieutenant Bradley and Commander Crowley came in.
"Olivia, how are you feeling?"
"Better. Thank you."
"You're welcome."
The nurse came out with Hank and then Ed and Maggie came in.
"Lieutenant. Commander."
"How are you doing?"
"Still sore but getting there."
"Good. We just saw Sergeant Langan and Officer Burgess."
"They were headed to see if Dr. Charles could schedule them in. I told them both to take some time for themselves. I was not the only one to tell Sergeant Langan that. I know she's concerned with half of our squad off."
"There's are 4 of you off? You, Sergeant Langan, Detective Halstead and Officer Burgess."
"Detective Baker got married on Valentine's Day from what I heard and that was from Sergeant Langan. She married Sergeant Langan's cousin. If we need help in the meantime, Sergeant Dawson offered any of their people."
"Ok. We stopped over at your house to see you but Detective Halstead said you would probably be here. You're ok after that incident?"
"Yes, Sir, I am. I'm a little shocked about the incident at the jail though."
"We know all about that."
"I knew nothing about that."
"Hank, you're fine. We spoke with Sergeant Dawson and Detective Halstead and they both said there was no reason to think you were behind that."
"As much as I didn't like the guy for how he treated Olivia, I wouldn't have had him killed."
"I'm still very close to his family and they don't blame anyone except Elliot himself."
"We're still trying to get some background on why he was the way he was."
"We were partners for years. He ended up shooting and killing the daughter of one of our victims because she starting shooting up the Squadroom. At the time, he had done it to protect the rest of us but had a hard time dealing with what he had done. The next thing I heard was he had put his papers in and retired. This was 7 about years ago. I didn't hear from him again until a year ago."
"Did Internal Affairs investigate it?"
"That was basically the reason he put his papers in because he didn't want to deal with me. We talked when he turned his papers in and I told him that he should at least talk to Olivia. He chose not to."
"The reason we're asking is because he wanted to file a complaint against Hank, so we need as much info as we can get on him."
"Unbelievable."
"Contact Lieutenant Davis, who heads IAB for the NYPD and he can send you whatever you want from Stabler's file. Maggie, do you have a piece of paper?"
"Yes."
Maggie pulled a piece of paper out of her purse. Ed then wrote down the contact information and handed it to Lieutenant Bradley.
"I think I have talked to him before but thank you."
"Ever since he came back into my life a year ago, he has become obsessed with me. I always respected the fact that he was married but he couldn't do the same. He wanted Hank out of the way, so he could take me away with his little girl, who he told his ex he wanted custody of. Even when I first ran into him in Hawaii, he shoved Hank down onto a chair and kissed me. I knew Hank wasn't going to let him get away with that. They fought and Jay and Justin tossed him out of the restaurant face first in the sand."
Olivia told them everything Elliot had pulled in the last year and how he was when they worked together. They showed her, Hank and Justin the letter Elliot had sent to the Chicago Police Department. Then Ed read it.
"Oh, no! There's no way in hell any of this happened. Hank would NEVER hurt me like that."
"This is bullshit! Dad would never hurt any of us like that even though there have been times when I deserved it. That bastard is lucky he's dead."
"We do know what Hank is capable of but he's been better the last couple years. From what Dawson and Halstead told us, Mr. Stabler was running his mouth about what he was planning to do and that was why he was killed."
"They said he was going to take Olivia away from her abusive, asshole cop husband. My family is my entire life."
Olivia could tell Hank was on the verge of breaking down.
"Give us a minute."
Everyone left the room and went to the waiting room. Olivia wrapped her arms around him and then he broke down.
"I'm a terrible person."
"No, you're not. If you really were a terrible person, I wouldn't be with you. I think you're an amazing man and I love you so much and so does the rest of the family. Elliot's main goal was to split us up and he wouldn't stop until he did even if it meant lying about it. You did nothing wrong. The only person who did anything wrong was him. I blame myself for allowing him back into my life."
"I don't blame you either. I love you too. You know I would never hurt you."
"I know that."
Olivia kissed Hank and then everyone came back in.
"Hank, Captain Tucker told us a lot about what had happened with Mr. Stabler in the past when he was with the NYPD and we already contacted Lieutenant Davis to get a copy of his file. We are going to speak with his family to find out how credible he was the last couple weeks he was alive and Dr. Charles was supposed to have evaluated him, so we will also be speaking to him but as far as we're concerned, none of these allegations will be held against you.
"Thank you, Ma'am."
"We will be in touch."
Commander Crowley and Lieutenant Bradley left and went to talk to Dr. Charles before they contacted the family. Lisa and Kim had come back.
"Did you talk to Dr. Charles?"
"Yeah. He was able to get us in this morning. We see Commander Crowley and Lieutenant Bradley were waiting to speak to him."
"Elliot wanted to file charges against Hank."
Olivia showed Lisa the copy of the letter, so she read it.
"This is unbelievable!"
"To say the least. Dr. Charles was supposed to have done an evaluation of Elliot, so they wanted to talk to him about that and then they wanted to talk to his family. Ed basically filled them in on his history with the NYPD and gave them Lieutenant Davis' contact information to get the file."
Then Olivia's phone rang. She saw it was Fin, so she answered it.
"Hey, Fin."
"Hey, baby girl. How you doin'?"
"If you mean after Elliot was killed, I'm fine. We just found out that he wanted to file charges against Hank, which was all part of his plan to get me away from my abusive, asshole cop husband. Elliot Stabler can rot in hell for all I care."
"Whatever was wrong with him was no little thing. Stabler would have gotten into it if some psycho was holdin' a gun to the head of someone he cared about, so why is he filin' charges? Voight would never hurt you."
"Oh, I know he wouldn't and I completely agree. Elliot would have done the exact same thing at one point.
"Don't get worked up about it."
"I'm not. I just can't believe he turned on me like that."
"He was never one of my favorite people. Neither was Tucker but he's not so bad now."
"How's Amanda?"
"Doin' good. Carisi is too."
"Good."
"Tucker texted us about what happened to you and Voight. How long are you off?"
"Probably the rest of the week but I'll probably be on desk duty for at least a couple months. I'm in the cast for 6 weeks. I don't really know how long he'll be off."
"That sucks but the good news is, you can spend more time with your kids."
"I am always grateful for that."
Olivia told Fin what Lexie did and after they talked for a while, she hung up.
"Fin says 'hey'."
"Ok."
"Ed, thanks for letting them know."
"No problem."
"I see and hear from Fin more in the almost 2 years I've been gone from New York than I saw or heard from Elliot in 6 years. I tried with him but he didn't know when to quit. He claimed he wanted to be a part of my life but he only said that, so he could treat me the way he did. I don't need that. I'm guessing he was planning to move to Chicago just so he could be closer to me and could continue harassing me. I doubt the Restraining Order would have stopped him."
"Somehow I doubt it too."
"How's Dickie this morning?"
"He's doin' good. We contacted your Realtor will be looking at places this afternoon. We found a few places online that we want to look at in person. One is not too far from you."
Then Jenna and Dickie came in.
"Hey."
"Hello."
"How are you doing today, Hank?"
"Sore but better."
"Good. How about you, Olivia?"
"Better."
"Good."
"What's going on with you two?"
"Not much. Mom, Maureen and Kathleen are leaving today, so they're spending a little bit of time with the boys before they leave."
"There was something else that came up and Commander Crowley and Lieutenant Bradley wanted to talk to the family."
"What came up?"
Olivia showed Dickie the letter.
"What an asshole!"
Then Commander Crowley and Lieutenant Bradley came back with Dr. Charles.
"How can we get a hold of someone in the Stabler Family?"
"I'm Richard. The oldest son."
"You're the one he slapped?"
"Yes, Ma'am. Let me have you talk to my mom or one of my sisters."
"Can we go talk in Dr. Charles' office first?"
"Sure."
Dickie kissed Jenna and then he left with Commander Crowley, Lieutenant Bradley and Dr. Charles.
"You two coming with us to look at houses?"
"We might as well if we're going to be living there too."
"One of the houses has a set up like Hank and Olivia have where the basement is more like an apartment, so if we go with that one, Maggie and I can be upstairs and the 4 of you can have the downstairs."
"Is that the one near us?"
"Yeah. Do you feel overcrowded with everyone living there?"
"Not really. If we were all upstairs, it might be. This is only temporary with Erin and Jay, since Erin wanted to be with someone in case something happened. We love having the entire family under one roof. They said they may start looking by summer. We told them there's no rush."
"A part of Olive still wants to move out but paying a third of the utilities is better than paying all of it."
"There's no rush for you either
"Dickie and I have been talking about wanting to get our own place but it's expensive."
"It is. That's the problem with Olive and me too. I would have loved to have raised my kids in the house I was raised in but we'd never be able to afford it."
"I hate that Mom and Dad are already thinking about moving after only being in their place for a little over a year."
"We were thinking about coming here before we even bought that place. If you were planning to stay in New York, we'd let you live there."
"Of course, we don't know that we'd be able to get jobs here."
"Since I'm the Commanding Officer of SVU, as far as I'm concerned, if you want the transfer, I'll contact Lieutenant Barba and start it."
Then Dickie came back with Commander Crowley and Lieutenant Bradley.
"Well, they have a waiting list for the Marine Unit but they have openings for Patrol at the 21st District. I do want to work with Lieutenant Voight but I'm not sure I want to be a Detective. "
"Good luck with Sergeant Platt. When I first started on Patrol, she was my Commanding Officer. Then I eventually moved upstairs to Intelligence and later transferred to SVU because Adam and I didn't want to work together and be together at the same time. I love working for Olivia and I'm happy to be working with Erin again too. Doing Patrol at the 21st is how you get noticed by Intelligence"
"I would love to work with Olivia too but I know I couldn't handle doing that for a couple reasons and I don't want to work with Jenna. I had a hard time being there when Kevin's friend was raped."
"We do work with Intelligence quite a bit."
"That's fine but I just don't want us to be in the same unit."
"You're his wife?"
"Yes, Ma'am. Lieutenant Voight said if I want her to start the transfer, she'll contact Lieutenant Barba. I should probably wait to see how the house hunting goes first."
"Once you know when the closing will be, let me know and will call Michelle."
"Detective, do you mind if we talk first?"
"Not at all."
Jenna went with Commander Crowley and Lieutenant Bradley.
"Probably a standard thing."
"You're ok with her not changing her name?"
"She did change it but decided to keep Tucker for professional reasons. I know Fin thanked her for not using Stabler."
"I'm sure he did. He never tolerated your dad's BS. We all know he was full of it most of the time."
"He sure was."
"Rollins still goes by Rollins."
"That I knew. It's less confusing. CPD has two Lieutenant Voights and there are also two Detective Halsteads. Kim, are you planning to change your name when you and Adam get married?"
"I haven't decided yet. We haven't made any plans yet but he told me he's ready this time. We've been talking more about wanting a family."
"If you're ready, I want you to think about taking the Detective's exam the next time it's offered."
"Yes, Ma'am."
Jenna came back.
"Everything ok?"
"Yep."
"We need to go meet the Realtor."
"Ok. Let us know how things go."
"Oh yeah. We will."
"I think I need to eat, take some meds and relax for a while."
"We can head home."
"Stay here with your dad. I'll take her home."
"You sure?"
"Yeah."
"Ok. Thanks, Lisa."
"Sure."
"We can Skype later."
"Ok. I love you."
"I love you too."
"I should go too."
Olivia kissed Hank and then Justin hugged her. Everyone said goodbye to Hank, Lisa went to get her SUV, while Dickie wheeled her down, while Ed had her crutches. Lisa pulled up at the entrance and then Olivia got in. Ed put the crutches in the backseat, while Dickie took the wheelchair back. Everyone told her they'd see her later and they all went wherever they were going. Dickie and Jenna went to pick up the boys and said goodbye to his mother and sisters before they went to meet Ed and Maggie at the first place they were looking at. Kathy, Maureen and Kathleen had talked to Commander Crowley and Lieutenant Bradley and before they headed to the airport, they stopped to see Olivia. When they arrived, they rang the doorbell. Erin answered it.
"Hey."
"Hey. Come on in."
"Thanks."
Kathy, Maureen and Kathleen came in and then Erin took them upstairs.
"Hey, Olivia."
"Hey."
"We are so sorry about Elliot trying to get Hank into trouble."
"It's not your fault."
"We basically told the Commander and the guy from Internal Affairs that Elliot was clearly not in the right frame of mind and hasn't been for a while."
"I don't think he would have stopped until he wrecked my marriage."
"I don't doubt that. I honestly could have seen him kidnapping our daughter."
"He probably would have tried the same with me. What pisses me off is him trying to file charges against Hank for punching him when he would have done the exact same thing at one point. Hank was protecting me and Elliot assaulted a police officer. The Elliot I worked with never would have put a gun to my head the way he did."
"We honestly think that killing that girl messed him up emotionally but we had no idea that he was as obsessed as he was with you."
"That's inexcusable. Fin called me while I was at the hospital visiting Hank to see how I was. I see and hear from him more in the 2 years I've been gone from New York than I heard from Elliot in 6 years. That's a true friend. I won't deny that I cared for Elliot because when you work that closely with someone for that amount of time, you feel something for them and you do get close to them but I never would have crossed that line with him. I always respected that he was married and had a family but he couldn't do the same when he found out I was married. Your son asked me once if I was sleeping with my partner and I said no because I never had those feelings for him. That time I met Bernadette, she told me you were afraid of me."
"I admit I was jealous because you spent more time with him than I did but I guess if he didn't care about you, he wouldn't have gotten a second mortgage on our house and bailed you out of jail."
"I just hope I wasn't the reason you two divorced."
"No, you were not. As you already know, we were having problems for a long time. We were actually officially separated by the time Olivia was born. We tried to work on our marriage after he put his papers in but everything had become about him. It always pretty much was. We even went to marriage counselling. The kids supported us officially divorcing. Eli never had the best relationship with him, just like Dickie. He really only cared about Olivia for the last 5 years. This year is the first time I wouldn't let him take her on their daddy-daughter vacation because a part of me had a feeling he wasn't going to bring her back. I hated feeling that way but his behavior had been so erratic lately. Whenever he had seen his mother, which wasn't very often, she would call me to find out if he has always been that crazy or was it just her. I basically told her that he's been like that ever since he killed that girl. He would never admit he had a problem. She did tell him that he needed to stop pining for someone he was never going to have and she told me that I was smart for getting out of that marriage. I also don't get what Elliot's problem with Ed is now. He seems like a nice guy and he's been so good to Dickie."
"Neither one are the men they once were. Dickie says he understands why Ed never liked Elliot."
"I know. Bernadette seems to be doing ok considering. Even after the divorce, we still got along. When Eli is off for Spring Break, we will probably go see her. Lizzie has been talking about getting away for a few days and going out there with Kevin and the kids. They're leaving tonight."
"We're planning to do the same thing when our kids are off."
"Dickie said when they go back, they may take the boys to spend some time with her. She adores Jenna and the boys."
"Has she met Ed?"
"She has and they get along pretty well. She told him she understood why he was always investigating Elliot and she always knew Elliot's temper would get him into trouble."
"I do worry about Hank's temper sometimes. He's been better and I know he's tried to control it for me and our young children. I knew he wasn't going to let Elliot get away with any of the crap he tried pulling with me. He is very protective of the people he cares about most"
"We don't blame him for that. I feel bad for Olivia, since she was obviously the closest to Daddy but he never cared whose toes he stepped on. All he cared about was his own happiness."
"After the way he has treated me, I don't care if he rots in hell."
"I feel that way myself sometimes. We just need to be careful how we talk about it around Olivia because I always tried not to say anything negative about him around her. As far as I know, he was the same way but lately, who knows?"
"It makes you wonder, doesn't it?"
"It does. We need to get going."
"Ok. Let me know when you're going to be in New York. I need to get out there myself. I want to meet the newest Carisi but I would also love to see Bernadette again."
"I think he's off the second to last week in March. I'll let you know for sure."
"Ok. I talk to Hank and let him know what the tentative plan is."
"Ok."
Kathy, Maureen and Kathleen hugged Olivia and said goodbye to everyone else before they headed out. As they were leaving, Munch arrived.
