Summer was in full swing, getting the idea for planning a small gathering for Tabs's birthday. I knew that she needs some cheering up the reason being that it's been a crazy time with the fear of Drako, and Daimyo's son would attack us at any moment. So that went I thought of giving her a small birthday gathering. Of course, the guys, Master Splinter, and of course April and Casey were invited. I had invited Tabs's grandmother but she was not able to come, but she sent her love and wish of luck.

Mom and I were happy to set up the apartment for the gathering. Tabs didn't know so the guys were keeping her busy for us, which was great for us, streamers in greens and whites were hanging all over the living room and dining room. The dining room table was covered in a green table cloth that ran the length of the table, a large crystal cake stand placed in the center of the table with a few things of flowers in vases framing it, and various food items were on the table for easy snaking. A knock on the door made us both stop, with mom going to investigate, only to find that it was April and Casey, who were welcomed to the apartment, both of them placed their gifts next to our own, Casey start to help with bringing food up from downstairs, April went to help him. Mom and I share knowing smiles. Both April and Casey would make a cute couple even if they wouldn't admit to it. Hanging balloons on the wall with the banner Happy Birthday in the middle of it make it just about perfect for Tabs. I mean she did deserve to have a good birthday and to get her mind off the craziest that has been going on.

"So what time is the birthday girl coming in?" April asked as they both placed brown bags in the kitchen.

"The guys bring her around a half an hour from now," I said. "Mom the cake is still in the fridge yes?"

Mom turned to look at us and smile.

"Yes of course it is dear don't you worry nothing is going to happen to that cake." She replied.

"Great," I said, opening a bag of chips and pouring them into a bowl.

April walked into the kitchen, which Mom gave her some bowls for salsa and other things.

"They should become within ten minutes," Casey said.

"Got it." We all said.

Turning off all of the lights and waited in the dark for them to show up. The balcony sliding door opens and everyone steps in.

"Why are the lights off?" I heard Tabs asked.

"Surprise!" We all yelled as Mom lifted the light now. "Happy Birthday!"

"What!" Tabs shouted in shock. "What how why?"

"Happy birthday!" We all shouted.

"You didn't have to do this." She said.

"We wanted to," Mom said. "Alex planed all of it."

She shot me a look that made me smile at her. She walked over and pulled me into a tight hug.

"Thank you." She said.

"Enjoy your birthday," I said.

"Thank you," She said before turning to the guys. "You Guys knew about this and didn't tell me anything."

"Yeah Alex swore us to keep it a secret," Don said. "She wanted to surprise you on your birthday."

"Well she did surprise me and I really appreciate it." She said.

"Well happy birthday Dudette!" Mikey said hugging Tabs tighter.

Causing all of us to laugh and cheer to celebrate Tabs and her birthday. Pizzas were placed on the dining room table, which Mikey attacked making us all laugh at him.

The pizza and the chips were nearly gone, all of us were laughing and enjoying our times together, Tabs was still in somewhat shock that I was able to pull the wool over her eyes for once which was nice.

"I still can't believe that you got me," She said. "Thank you."

"Hey you deserve it Tabs have fun and be merry for today belongs to you" I replied.

She gave me another smile for walking off to hang with Don. Which smirked at her smaller form.

"Great party Alex," Leo said holding his glass. "You did a great one."

"Thanks, Leo," I said. "Thank you for keeping her busy so we can set up the apartment for the gathering."

"Not a problem Alex," Leo said as we clicked our glasses. "It fun to celebrate something good."

"Yup," I replied, watching Don and Tabs being cute together keeping my mouth shut at the other of them being cute.

Master Splinter was slipping some tea and watching all of us with a smile on his furry face.

Raph was watching as Mikey was making a fool of himself like normal which made all of us laugh at him and enjoy our crazy-found family.

"So are we ready for cake?" Mom asked.

Tabs shot up with ease and walked over to the dining room chair.

"Happy birthday to you Happy birthday to you, happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you!" We sang aloud as Mom walked out of the kitchen holding the cake with lit candles. She gently placed it down in front of Tabs.

"Make a good wish." Mom said.

Tabs took a breath and blew the candles out like it was nothing, as Mom flicked the lights on to be met with a scream.

Making us look to see Ava in the doorway being the one who was screaming.

Reacting with speed, I pulled her into the apartment and slammed the door shut.

"Clam down Ava," I said at once. "Everything is okay.

"Who and what are they?" She questioned pointing at the guys.

"Ava don't point it's rude," I said.

"They are family Ava," Tabs said coming over. "They are not going to hurt anyone."

"What a minute you are the one who I saw in the window," Ava said pointing at Mikey.

Mikey let out a small squeak and try to hide behind Raph, who step out of the way to forcing Mikey to try to hide again. I could feel Master Splinter's eyes on me.

"What is going on?" Ava asked. "I have every right to know."

Both Tabs and I shared a look, before looking at Master Splinter. He looked at us and gave a nod of the head but looked somewhat annoyed.

"So Tabs do you want to example or do you want me to do it?" I asked. We both shared a look and I step up. "So these are the guys and Guys this is Ava."

After Alex introducing Ava to the Guys the gathering thankfully when back to normal. Where everyone welcomes Ava, even Master Splinter even though he was not happy about it.

"And tell me why you two didn't tell me about them?" Ava asked.

"It was Master Splinter rule to keep everyone safe including you Ava," I said.

"Really?" She asked.

"Yeah," I replied.

Ava looked at us before going to talk with Mikey, Tabs walked over.

"Well, she seemed to take it well." She said bringing her glass up.

"Yeah, she seems to," I replied looking at Ava and Mikey talking excitedly to each other.

"They look cute together," Tabs said pointing with her eyes to them.

"Yeah, I agree with you," I said.

As we clinked glasses.
