'Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit.' I stammer, my hands shaking.

'Bella you don't have to do this.' Alice says softly.

My heart is pounding so hard in my chest I can hear the rushing in my ears.

'No…I do. I do. I want to, but I…' My stomach churns, 'I think I'm going to be sick.'

My chin is grabbed gently and turned, bringing me face to face with Jasper. His crystal blue eyes stare into mine as I hyperventilate.

'Breathe.' He murmurs. I nod and try to copy his breaths, Alice stroking my back.

'Okay?' He asks softly after a while.

Edward. Just think about Edward. That look on his face when he got in that car.

I have to fix this.

I have to tell him.

Adrenaline electrifies my muscles, my heart pounding even faster.

Fuck.

'Y-yes. I can do this.'

There's a chorus of positive words and I let out a quiet groan before flinging the car door open.

My legs are unsteady, my knees trembling as I make my way to the large building.

The wind flaps my hair around, whipping it at my cheeks and neck.

The police station is a tall structure, shades of brown and white on the façade. I approach the sliding doors, my hands shaking. The glass is tinted blue, a big badge symbol cut in half by the line in the middle.

The doors open for me with a smooth whoosh, and I stumble into the reception, searching, not sure what I'm searching for exactly.

It smells like sandalwood and the floor gleams grey, my converse making too much noise as my feet slap across it.

The woman at the desk is chewing gum and I swallow as I approach her, my palms sweating.

My voice cracks, 'Um…'

She looks up at me and arches a thinly plucked eyebrow, pursing her too-red lips, 'Yes?'

I clear my throat, 'I need…' I swallow, taking a shuddering breath.

Holy fuck.

I'm doing this.

'Did they bring in…where is Edward Cullen?'

The woman opens her mouth, but the phone starts ringing and she holds her hand out to me, palm exposed.

The universal gesture for wait.

She picks the phone up and I shift uncomfortably.

Patience is a virtue.

I don't have many, but this one, maybe I can hold out for.

Frustration coils my belly tight as the woman starts droning on about something completely fucking random.

I need to see him.

My mouth opens to interrupt her.

'Bella?'

I spin around, eyes wide.
