Author Comment: I want to thank my Beta-reader FollowerOfAnhamirak for his time on this chapter. I hope you enjoyed it.
The six Chaotic players continued to wait in line as they slowly got closer to the train station. It wasn't moving quickly enough though. At this rate it would be a long time before they could evacuate with the others. That was what they got when they were the last group to reach the station.
"I wish they could hurry up," Sarah grumbled nervously as she tapped on her scanner, trying to calm down.
"Me too Sarah," Peyton replied as he gazed back.
"We can only wait," Cassandra told them, feeling more than a little nervous. Everything could take a turn for the worse right now.
Alexandre was pensive. He couldn't think of anything to say to help them. It was all up to the Codemasters now, "You noticed that there were more creatures who suddenly showed up?"
Tom turned towards him. He remembered how he had stopped for a second when he noticed creatures suddenly coming from another room, "Y-yeah. More from each of the tribes showed up."
"S-seriously. There were more than just eight?" Kaz asked, adjusting his glasses shakily.
Tom nodded, "Maxxor did say that he was meeting with the other tribe leaders. That was about… when I told him about Phelphor memories."
"Still-" Kaz yelped when they heard the sound of a large explosion followed by more explosions. The battle had begun.
"Looks like the M'arrillians are here," Sarah realized.
Peyton gulped, "And probably mucho numerous as well Sarah."
The four teenagers gulped while the two adults put on a brave face. The adults were as nervous as the four, but this wasn't time to show weakness. Doing so would only cause problems.
Chapter 67: Battle For Chaotic Part 2
Theb-Saar watched the portal and waited with the other creatures. With everyone present, he could count a hundred of them. The battlegear under the control of the Codemasters were hidden elsewhere, in case some of the M'arrillians got past them. He heard something and noticed fifty more pieces of battlegear come to their side, weapons out and ready to fire at the enemy.
They didn't have to wait long before the Kha'ralls came out onto the frontline.
The alliance fired back at them, and many explosions followed on both sides.
The battlegear activated their thrusters and floated into the air, firing missiles at the M'arrillians who in turn followed suit, resulting in more explosions.
"Tornado Tackle!" Theb-Saar yelled as he dispersed the black clouds that surrounded the creatures.
The creatures followed with a combination of fire and wind attacks against the invaders.
Many of the M'arrillians cried out in pain as the attacks hit them.
Maxxor noticed something fly through the air, "More above!" Narrowing his eyes, he fired Ironballs at them, but wasn't able to hit any of them.
Chaor charged and jumped into the air, grabbing the creature and dragging it down, noticing more soldiers coming through the portal. Letting out a roar, he threw it back at them and landed on the ground.
Lore frowned as he looked around and noticed that they were slowly getting overwhelmed.
The Codemasters watched the battle and checked on the evacuation of the Chaotic Players.
Imthor knew the battle was going south. And it had happened much quicker than he had expected, "Hotekk, move some of the battle machines towards the evacuation route. I fear the M'arrillians checked the minds of the creatures who aren't wearing the circlets and now know where the humans are."
"Okay," Hotekk moved some of the defense left in the back to block the corridors leading to the train station.
Crellan noticed that Tom and the others were the last in the line, "They might be after them," he said, pointing at the Chaotic Players in question.
"Obviously. If they believe they could guide them to the Cothica, they would target them to force the creatures to surrender. Still, they are only code," Imthor replied as he searched for a solution or a way to counter attack efficiently.
"We have a breach," Crellan pointed at a group that had gotten past the creatures, "Aval'par is leading them."
"I'm ready to block them. They only have one path and the corridor isn't too large," Hotekk said with a small chuckle. He turned towards them and asked, "Warn me if more come. I'll focus on Aval'par and his weaklings."
Imthor checked to see if anything else was going on right now. He just knew that the Port Court was done and that the creatures had no choice but to retreat. They had held on long enough, "Retreat to the next location!"
They saw the creatures and the battle machines leave the Port Court.
"I'll make sure they will have trouble passing through the corridors," Hotekk said.
"And make sure they are only heading to my Battle Drome. We will bring some of them in there and lose them in a location for a while," Imthor ordered as he made sure that everyone was retreating. He noticed that Chaor was one of the last one to retreat. It was obvious that it was because he had to retreat at somebody else's command.
Crellan gazed at the M'arrillians and tried, along with the other Codemasters, to predict the M'arrillians' next move. He saw the creatures walk over the corpses of their fallen comrades and a few of the more important figures show up. He saw Milla'iin, the master of their crazed plan, finally show up, alongside a few of the other M'arrillian leaders such as the Coralsmith. He didn't see Gal'drad, the leader of the M'arrillian rebellion. He wondered if they had been subdued, or if something else had happened. Milla'iin was confident right now, as if he expected no one to show up for a while or at all. He didn't know what was going on in the Deep Ocean, but it wasn't important.
The plan had never factored in the help of the rebellion. They had been ready for the worst possible situation. Still, it was worse than the Codemasters had anticipated. They had held the M'arrillians at the Port Court for only twenty minutes before retreating.
Hotekk grumbled, "We really need to cause a lot of damage right now. Too bad we can't blow up the Port Court."
"And create mass panic-forget that. We already did," Imthor quickly corrected himself.
Oron replied, "We need to cause a lot of damage in the next battleground we prepared for them. The creatures told us that the next location is filled with traps."
"I blocked the direct access to the train station for the Beta Drome," Tirasis told them with a small smile as she pressed on the holographic keyboards, "They have no choice but to take a detour by your Drome Imthor."
"They are going to wreck it," Hotekk commented, chuckling as he tried to ease the tension a little.
"I don't mind that. It's not going to be wrecked by a party...right?" Imthor asked.
The Codemaster who tried to ease the tension gulped. He refocused on the task when the M'arrillians went in the corridor. He saw an explosion when they entered in the corridor.
"What about Aval'par?" Imthor asked, his voice taking a hard tone.
"Him and a few others passed, but I'm ready to take care of them," Hotekk replied as he finished placing the defense in position. He gazed at the screen and knew that most M'arrillians were after the creatures. It was their only path for now, "They are going to lose some time."
The Chaotic Players were still waiting for the next train to come when they heard the explosions getting closer and closer.
"They're coming!" one player yelled.
The players were already getting agitated.
"Please remain calm. We already prepared the defense against the M'arrillians. Most of them have been "guided" towards another Drome. It was just a squadron and we have enough strength to deal with them or push them back if needed," they heard Codemaster Crellan say through the intercom.
The players weren't calming down. They were beginning to push against each other to be the next one as the train approached. Noting this, the robots tried to bring back some order.
Alexandre crossed his arms and let out a small sigh, "It won't work. If the battle goes on for too long, it's going to get chaotic here."
"Are they here because of us?" Sarah whispered.
Kaz gulped, "Most likely."
"Anyway! Don't panic everyone! Just a few of them against robots. Like in some awesome movies you know," Peyton said loudly, "I'm in the back and I'm totally chill."
The players reluctantly listened to Peyton. They were still agitated, but they had stopped pushing against each other as the train came and the doors opened. The players went in there and the train departed.
"Nice one Peyton," Tom congratulated him, a little surprised at the result.
"No need to panic or it's more of a problem for everyone," Peyton replied easily as he rubbed the back of his head.
A few players chuckled at him.
"I have to agree, you did well," someone said as he joined them in his wheelchair.
"Reggie. I didn't know you were here," Tom said, surprised at seeing him
"I wasn't really in front of you, so I thought it might be best to wait with you. I am getting a little nervous honestly," Reggie's fingers tapped the handle of his wheelchair.
"You think we'll get to the Beta Drome in time?" Sarah asked him.
"Not sure. It depends on whatever plan the Codemasters had is working or not. We don't know what the creatures might do or won't," the boy shrugged as he gazed back.
They heard a few more explosions and grew a little more nervous. They knew that some of the M'arrillians were there. Suddenly they saw the door closing.
"We are going to drop the oxygen level in those corridors and in the Port Court," Crellan explained to the players, "Since only M'arrillians are in the danger zone, we will weaken them. Do not worry, we will do anything to keep you safe."
"D-damn. They can do that here?" Cassandra commented.
"Science-fiction stuff. More of that. We aren't in space," Peyton replied as he waved his fingers.
"We know nothing of Chaotic. We just know about how and where they play the game and hang out. Nothing else," Reggie commented pointedly.
"If they don't come here, they will try to find a place with air or they will die," Kaz thought.
The Chaotic Players could only wait for the evacuation to continue and talk together
Aval'par felt something was wrong with the corridor as soon as they entered it. He didn't know what exactly, but it didn't matter. They had five humans to capture and put the other tribes on their knees. He gazed behind him, but no creatures appeared to try and stop them.
(We are chasing the creatures to the Battle Drome,) Milla'iin said in his mind.
(Understood, we are approaching the location of the Chaotic Players and- Enemies!) Aval'par yelled when he dodged something coming at him.
They stopped at the last second and something exploded in front of them. They looked forward. Many of the battlegear were in their way and had their weapons out.
Aval'par quickly counted those war machines. They numbered a little less than them, "They are ready to protect those humans. Get rid of them!" Aval'par readied himself, but stopped as he realized that something was wrong as they charged. Looking around he noticed the breathing of his soldiers become shorter than before for some reason. His purple eye looked around to see if something hidden had caused this phenomenon, but found nothing.
"Hard to breathe," one of his soldiers gasped loudly. The others grumbled as they dodged more attacks from the defense system.
The chieftain knew they were in trouble. The air was low and his soldiers were having problems breathing. If they were in water, they would have no problem. On the surface, they were dependent on oxygen.
Aval'par wasn't affected because of his body, but it wouldn't take much longer before he would be affected by it as well. He knew he had to turn the fight around quickly or they would have to retreat. He had to make a decision quickly or else they might die due to lack of air. "Keep attacking! I'll handle this air problem." Aval'par ordered
His soldiers obeyed and fired at the battlegear. They weren't able to damage them, weakened as they were by the lack of oxygen.
The purple chieftain charged his attack and tried to break the ceiling of the corridor they were in. He fired a few more times before he managed to create a hole and air came in.
His soldiers took a deep breath before a few of them were blasted by the missiles of the machines.
Despite that, they felt their strength return slowly.
"Attack!" Aval'par ordered.
The offensive suddenly became even more brutal against the defense system of Chaotic.
AC: This is the end of this chapter. I hope you enjoyed it.
Next is the third part.
The attack on the line of defense between the creatures and the Chaotic Players was intense, while the creatures moved the M'arrillians to Imthor's Battle Drome.
