Chapter 68: Family Thanksgiving
A week later...
"Okay...thanksgiving is coming soon. And this is the moment I've been waiting for." Donald spoke to himself as he looked in the mirror. He's in his houseboat getting ready for work but at the same time, he's been planning something big. And it involves his girlfriend, Daisy Duck.
"On that day, I take her somewhere where it's private and just the 2 of us and-"
"BAM! BAM! BAM!"
"Amigo! You ready or what?"
"Coming!" Putting it aside, Donald left his room as on the houseboat, Panchitos and Jose were waiting for him. "The diner won't open itself you know!" Panchitos stated as the trio left the houseboat and it's walking distance to the diner.
When they arrived, Donald spent a few minutes trying to unlock the door and nearly became cantankerous until Jose found the right key. Once inside, the trio got to work. Cleaning of the counter, tables and seats took place, utensils, napkins and menus are set and the kitchen got a startup. By the time they're done, several people are arriving and work begins.
Throughout the day, Donald and his bandmates provided their services with culinary and attendance to their customers. Beakly joined shortly to provide additional assistance. After that, his 3 nephews, Webby, Deco and B.N.D dropped by. "Hi Uncle Donald!" The triplets greeted. "Boys! Here to do your school work?" Donald asked. "We rarely use your diner to work on our studies." said Louie as the group of friends sat down. "I must admit. Being one with this clique has put me in a good mood." B.N.D began. "Agreed. I also heard you host outings and gatherings is it?" Deco asked. "In some occasions." Louie replied as he read the menu. "We can grab a bite after we settle our school priorities." Huey suggested. "Just looking at what I'd like to get first after we settle the school priorities." Louie replied as already, Dewey ordered some cola as the group began their homework.
Donald watched from the counter with a smile. The boys he raised had grown and have taken responsibility in being independent these days. "Amigo!" From the kitchen, Panchitos placed a plate containing a cheeseburger with fries as Donald took the dish and went to serve one of his customers but tripped accidentally. However, the dish landed right in front of him and he even caught him. Thumbs up from the customer and he had a good meal.
After work...
"Whew! Opening the place and closing it for the day is a bit tedious." said Panchitos. "You said it. Especially the cleaning for the aftermath." said Jose. "But still, earning the money through it will benefit us for one day, the 3 Cabarellos will go on a world tour!" Panchitos stated as he and Jose fist bump as Donald showed up. "See you guys tomorrow for it's your payday!"
"Good timing! Remember that!" Jose reminded him as they departed.
At McDuck Manor, Donald arrived and ran into Duckworth. "How was business?"
"The usual." Donald replied. "Anything going on?"
"Nothing much except a meeting regarding the upcoming Thanksgiving. It ended a few minutes ago and it's not much of a big deal." Duckworth explained. "I see." said Donald as he started to ponder a bit. "What's troubling you?" Duckworth asked. "Oh nothing much. Just a bit of planning on the day itself." Donald replied. "With all due respect, if it pleases me, I would like to know and don't worry, not only will I keep my mouth shut about it but maybe assist you in whatever way I can do." Duckworth opened up. "Well...if that's the case..." Donald whispered it to the butler and after that, "Bold move you're making."
"Yeah. Hope I don't mess up and with no interference..." said Donald. "Rest assure, I'll do what I can to help you." Duckworth assured to him and they shook hands reaching into assistance as they went to discuss on how it can be carried out privately and secretly.
The next week...
"Alright! Today is Thanksgiving and it's half day for us!" Louie cheered as he and Dewey fist bump. "Unfortunately, we need to help around the mansion to get them some supplies at the supermarket." Huey brought up to his brothers. "Oh yeah. That." said Louie. "It's no big deal, get the stuff and we have the rest of the day!" said Webby cheerfully. "You know how to brighten my mood. Now come here." Dewey pulled Webby in as they makeout a bit and after that, they met their other friends and class begins.
In Class Y201, they're in the gym for some PE. "Captain's ball! Split into 2 teams and once ready, play ball!" Coach Marsh ordered as the class split up and Huey and Violets always stick together and stay on the same team to establish cohesion. Once ready, game on!
In Class Y202, they're in the middle of geography. "The world's longest river is the Nile River from the country, Egypt." The greography teacher, Ms Monet explained. "Can someone tell me what is the largest river in the world?" No response as all looked at each other. "How about you Kirby?" Ms Monet asked the jock. "Uh..." That's when he saw Dewey show him a piece of paper. "Amazon River?"
"Indeed! Also the second longest river." As the lesson resumes, Kirby gave Dewey the thumbs up and he nodded back as Casey began to doze off.
In Class Y203, the class is in the lab for chemistry. "Today will be your first practical lesson and it will be the creation of copper sulphate crystals." The chemistry teacher, Dr Kayama began as she did a demonstration on how the crystals are created. Seeing this, "This give me a new scheme..." Louie thought with a smile and Lena is chewing gum and passing it around to her classmates.
After school...
"Despite it being half day, it's a good thing the cafeteria's open for lunch hours." said Dewey as the 4 of them left the school. "Beakly gave me a list of supplies to get from the market. As far as I know, it's a lot." Huey spoke up. "And that's why Launchpad drove us to school and will drive us to the supermarket and home." said Dewey when a limo drove by and stopped before them as the sidewinder was lowered and, "Hope I'm not too late." Launchpad called out. "You're arrived in time. Let's go!" said Dewey as the teens got inside and Launchpad drove them to the supermarket.
They soon arrived as the teens exit the limo and entered the place. Launchpad remained to the limo as he read a Darkwing Duck comic book. "It also reminds me that Drake and Gosalyn are dropping by for Thanksgiving!" He thought as he continued reading.
Some time later, the teens came out with the supplies. With that, Launchpad started the engine as the teens placed the supplies at the back, got inside the limo and he drove them back home.
Back at the manor...
With all the supplies bought and brought back in good condition(Launchpad did not crash. That's a relief), preparations have begun as in the kitchen, Beakly is working on the turkey as she made the stuffing and worked on the roasting. Dewey and Webby are mashing potatoes together while Della and Huey are making the green bean casseroles. Louie is seen cooking sausages with Launchpad assisting him.
At the same time, Scrooge and Goldie are seen setting the table. "A lot of folks coming for the thanksgiving Scroogey?"
"Of course dear! Diamond will be meetin new faces tonight also!" Scrooge replied. "The looks on their faces once they see our child! Ooh...this is gonna be fun!" Goldie then pulled Scrooge in for a kiss and, "AHEM!"
They looked to see Dewey and Webby smirking at them. "Oh come on! You 2 also do that!" The couple replied as they went back into the kitchen to continue mashing. "We also need to help make the gravy." Dewey added and point taken.
As the preparations proceed on, "Where's Uncle Donald?" Huey asked his mother. "Managing his diner as usual. He'll end work early so that he can attend the Thanksgiving feast." Della replied as she and Huey continued making the green bean casserole.
While the kitchen is busy, Scrooge is seen in the living room checking the bills while Goldie is cuddling Diamond as she looked around and Duckworth came by to serve them their tea for the couple finished setting the table. Putting Diamond on the floor, Goldie took her cup while her baby crawled to Scrooge. "Aw...what does tha wee little lass want from her daddy?" He asked picking her up gently. Duckworth and Goldie chuckled as Scrooge began to play with his daughter.
Back in the kitchen, Beakly started making the soup while leaving the turkey to roast and she has a timer set while she cooks. Louie soon joined Dewey and Webby as they cut some potatoes into wedges and deep-frying took place afterwards.
Some time later...
It's almost time as already, the doorbell rang and Duckworth went to answer it. Upon opening, "Wassup butler." Lena greeted.
"Good evening Miss Sabrewing and family." Duckworth greeted stepping aside as Ty, Indy, Violet and Lena entered the manor. Behind them, Drake and Gosalyn went in next followed by Gyro, B.O.Y.D, Gladstone, Fethry, Fenton, Officer Cabreara, Gandra, Fergus, Downy, Matilda, Emily Quackfaster and finally, Daisy Duck.
"Interesting. All have arrived in time. Though I wonder..." As Duckworth closed the door, "KSH!"
"OW!"
"Ah, he just arrived." Duckworth opened the door again revealing Donald who's clutching his hand in pain, Panchitos and Jose. "Are we late?" Jose asked. "Nearly. Come along, everyone's gathering in the dining room." Duckworth replied as the trio entered but, "Duckworth, you know what to do right?"
"Of course Donald, after dinner we carry it out." Duckworth assured to him as right now, many of the guests had gathered around all adoring Diamond.
"She's so cute!" Matilda squealed tickling her webbed feet.
"I have a granddaughter!" Downy cheered and almost fainted as Fergus caught her by the waist.
"Adorableness overload!" Gandra exclaimed as Goldie was flattered by their compliments while Diamond just looked at the many people that came to the manor tonight for the event and started to laugh in happiness. And speaking of which, "Dinner is ready!" Beakly announced from the dining room as all made their way in. Then, "I wonder where's Donald?" Daisy looked around for him and, "There you are!"
"Oh! Daisy!" They ran and grasped onto each other's hands as they laughed and then, an embrace. "First time I'm celebrating Thanksgiving with your family." Daisy pointed out as they separated. "Come on, the others are waiting for us. We can talk more during the feast." said Donald as the couple headed to the dining room with Duckworth behind them.
In the dining room...
A 20 pound roasted turkey, 2 bowls of mashed potatoes, 2 green bean casseroles, 2 platters of roast potatoes and potato wedges, a large pot full of cream of chicken, 2 platters of sausages, 2 baskets of butter rolls and several bowls of gravy and cranberry sauce are all set on the dining table. Most were seated and each of them have a bowl of salad with dressing on it and there are 2 pitchers of iced lemon tea and a pack of Pep!.
"Is everyone here?" Scrooge asked as all looked around and, "I think we're missing at least 3 people." said Huey when, "And we just arrived." Duckworth announced as he, Donald and Daisy sat with the others as first, Scrooge gave a speech which is short and simple. Once done, "Dig in!"
Everyone then began serving themselves as Duckworth got knives ready and started slicing up the turkey and distributing the proportions to everyone. Donald served Daisy as she requested some green bean casserole, some potato wedges and a sausage which he complied and got what she wanted. Goldie is seen feeding Diamond while Scrooge took some servings for her. Drake and Launchpad are stuffing themselves while Beakly went around filling everyone's bowls with the soup. Webby, Lena, Violet and Gosalyn chat and ate their dinner and the triplets hanging out with B.O.Y.D as he showed them his new upgrades that he recently got (Right after chapter 50, B.O.Y.D has been undergoing some enhancements and now starting from this chapter, he looks like a teenager like his peers). Donald, Panchitos and Joses discussed some plans until Gladstone interrupted them by finding a 50 dollar bill in Panchitos' umbrella while eating his salad. Fethry can be seen getting more soup while Della chat with Fergus, Downy and Matilda. Fenton poured some iced lemon tea for Gandra while Ty, Indy and Gyro had a toast with their cans of Pep! Officer Cabrera can be seen getting more turkey meat and gravy while Emily Quackfaster helped herself to some butter rolls to dip in her soup.
As the feast goes on, Duckworth looked at the time and gave Donald the thumbs up. He nodded and since he finished his dinner, he left without anyone knowing and likewise, the butler.
Only 5 minutes later, Daisy noticed his missing boyfriend as she drank some iced lemon tea. "Where's Donald? Dessert is being served soon and I know he won't miss it." She waited first as everyone continued eating and bonding and then after another 5 minutes, "Okay this anxiety is killing me! I can't just do nothing but wait!" Excusing herself, she left the dining room as she looked around the ground level. "Nope. He's not here." She thought when she heard something. A knocking sound. This really made her curious she followed the noise and it goes on until, she went outside. By the time she's out, Duckworth materialized. "Perfect. Everything is going according to plan. It's all up to you now Donald." He thought as he peeked through the window by phasing his head through.
Outside...
Daisy found herself at the pool area and then, "Donald!" She went to her boyfriend who just happened to be standing by the ledge looking at his reflection and he knew he was not alone. "Just as planned." Duckworth thought with smile as he phased out of sight and back inside to ensure no one interrupts the couple.
Back to them, "I remember how we first met." Donald began. "Ah yes the gala. The blue nephew of yours did a yo-yo trick show." Daisy recalled. "I also remembered how beautiful you are in that dress you wore at the gala. And tonight you wore it." Donald pointed out as Daisy posed in front of him. "Fashion still rubs on me." They laughed as they looked at their reflections at the pool. "This is where we had our first date." Daisy recalled. "And that dim-witted but loyal demigod friend of yours tried to-"
"I know. But it can't be helped. He understands my relationship that's why." Donald replied. "Not to mention that he's trying to understand how love works on this 'mortal' world even until tonight."
It cuts to Ithaquack as Storkules is looking at some dating app while gobbling some mashed potatoes. Yup, the gods are also having their Thanksgiving as Zeus shook his head. "The idea of giving him a phone is getting out of hand." He told Hades his brother. "Of course I gave him one and he's getting used to it." Hades replied as Selene just ate her salad calmly.
And back to the duck couple, "Things had changed right? We've been dating for several years and you somehow became more responsible and less cantankerous even though the amount of rage you channel is still a lot on a few occasions." Daisy stated. "Well...I'm still attending my anger management counselling." said Donald as Daisy chuckled and then, he saw Duckworth phase his head out since he's still in his spectral form and gave him the thumbs up. Now is the time as, "Daisy?"
"Yes Donald?"
"I...I know we've been dating for several years and...I wanted to change something in our relationship."
"Oh?" Daisy was surprised to hear this and then, it became more surprising when at the drop of one's hat, Donald got down on one knee, took out a small case and opened it before his girlfriend. "It's time for me to take the next step in it. Daisy Duck...

Back inside the dining room...
"Hey, has anyone seen my brother?" Della asked around and only now, she noticed it. "Sorry Della. Didn't see him." Goldie replied as she chatted with Emily. "Weird. He must have left immediately after dinner and before dessert in which all of us are now having pumpkin pie for that. And it's a good thing I saved a slice for him and added whipped cream to it. Not to mention Beakly left it in the kitchen." Della thought as she started eating her portion.
At that moment, Donald and Daisy showed up as, "Where have you been?" Scrooge asked. "Just getting some fresh air." Donald replied. "Dere's plenty of air in tha mansion!" Scrooge replied when, "Hey...is that a wedding ring on Daisy's finger?" Webby asked as one by one, all gasped. "That's right everyone..." Daisy began as all stared at her...

"I accepted it." She announced and then, loud applause took place as everyone congratulated Donald and Daisy. "Uncle Donald!" The triplets hugged their uncle as Webby shook Daisy's hand in excitement. "I can't wait for the wedding!" She cheered as, "Looks like this family's expanding some more. Ain't that right Scroogey?" Goldie asked as her husband pondered a bit.
And then, "Never thought you'll do it without us knowing it." Scrooge spoke to Donald as he tried to think of what to say when, "With all due respect sir, he was worried that anyone of you may out of nowhere interfere and expose his actions." Duckworth explained and showed up at the same time. "So I offered my aid to him so that his plan to carry out his proposal will be flawless and without any antics, ruckus or wild goose chase like outside at the city."
"Yeah. Cops are chasing a mob of goose robbers that robbed a liquor store and a book store in which they stole porn magazines." Louie stated for he's watching the video clip on Ducktube via his phone. And then, "So, when is the wedding?" Della asked as she nudged her brother. "About that...we need time to plan." said Donald. "And we need a specific date to have bachelor parties! Ooh! 50 dollars!" Gladstone stated as he took a 50 dollar bill that unknowingly appeared on Fethry's hat. "Also, we need to work on their attires for the wedding." said Goldie. "Plus, the arrangements, venue and so on."
"Ha! Ha! Ha! Lotsa planning ta do but it'll be worth it on tha day itself!" said Scrooge as everyone continued bonding and eating pumpkin pie as Beakly brought out Donald's portion. He then shared it with Daisy and as they ate together, "To our future." They declared in their minds. The pie is delicious.
Well, well, well, what remains of Season 3 will air now and all the way till next month. It's an awesome show I must say and like the saying, all good things must come to an end.
Okay, I feel sluggish these days due to job searching. I really need to restore my fanfiction thoughts and ideas and get a job asap. As of now, I'm scheduled for an interview. Let's hope it all goes well for me.
And yes, some guest asked about Donald and Daisy's relationship and let's just say, I have planned for this to come and expect more of it in a way that...you know what? All will be revealed in time. I need to get my head back in the writing board like, now! Woo-hoo!
