"Ashley! There you are!" Kiawe shouted.

Light was streaming through the windows into the old house.

"Kiawe what time is it?" Ashley aske getting up.

"Roughly six, we've been covering for you, come on Lillie has a spare outfit ready. If we hurry we can make it to school on time." Kiawe said getting back to Charizard.

About twenty minutes later they arrived at the school. Lillie standing outside with a duffel bag.

"Go and get changed before your Uncle gets here." Lillie said handing off the bag.

Ashley was dressed and in class just in time for the bell. Shortly after that an alarm came on.

"Ultra Guardians it's time to move!" Kukui said opening the hatch. The six trainers and there Pokémon stepped onto the platform going down.

"A group of Nihilego have appeared in Verdant Cavern. Take care of the problem at all costs." Lusamine said over the screen.

"Alt Roger Lusamine!" The ultra guardians said, running to their ride pokemon.

At Verdant Cavern

"That's a lot of Nihilego." Lillie said in shock.

"Safest way to take care of this is by taking them out. Everyone ready." Kiawe said grabbing Turtonator's pokeball.

"Ready!" Four voices echoed.

"Ashley, are you there?" Mallow asked.

"Isn't there a better way to resolve this. One without violence?" Ashley asked.

"Alright enough is enough Ash. We need you! We need alola's champion for this. Not Ashley the pacifist!" Kiawe snapped.

"Kiawe!" Mallow shouted.

"Mallow we are outnumbered three to one. We need Ash!" Kiawe said angrily.

"I'm sorry if I'm not who I used to be but this is who I am now. And I can't fight them." Ashley said running off.

"Ashley!" Lana shouted, but they were long gone.

"Are you happy Kiawe!" Mallow scolded.

"I just said what we were all thinking. Not like her being gone will make this any harder." Kiawe said, before leading the charge.

Northern route 2

"Why don't they get it Marshtomp. I don't like fighting, there should always be an option that doesn't involve violence." Ashley said.

"Marsh?" Marshtomp said confused.

"Yeah, I know they're probably right, but I can't change who I am now." Ashley said kicking a stone.

"Spearow!" A voice shouted from where the stone landed.

A Spearow with a bump on its head flew up, and then another and another. Soon an entire flock was chasing after Ashley.

"I'm sorry! It was an accident!" Ashley shouted running away.

"Marsh!" Marshtomp shouted running after his trainer.

Ashley was quickly chased into a dead end.

"Marshtomp, I'm sorry I'm not a good enough trainer to handle this." Ashley said defeated. "Go, I'll hold them off." She said standing in front of him.

"Piiiiiikaaaaaachuuuuu!" A yellow blur flew right in front of her landing.

Suddenly it all came flowing back. Waking up late on his first day. Getting Pikachu as his starter, and even angering a flock of Spearow!

Ashley's demeanor changed quickly, as Ash called out.

"Pikachu use Discharge!"

Pikachu jumped up spreading electricity through the entire flock as they flew off.

"Pikachu! It's good to see you!" Ash said hugging his old partner.

"Marshtomp!" Marshtomp said excitedly joining the hug.

"The Ultra Guardians! They need our help!" Ash shouted running back towards the Verdant Cavern.

"Snowy use Powder Snow!"

"Magearna use Fleur Cannon!"

"Tsareena use Trop Kick!"

"Primarina use Sparkling Aria!"

"Sandy use Double Edge!"

"Togedemaru use Zing Zap!"

"Vikavolt use Charge Beam!"

"Turtonator use Flamethrower!"

"Marowak use Bonemerang!"

"Charizard use Air Slash!"

They were at a disadvantage, no Z moves left, and there were still to many Ultra Beasts.

"Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"

"Marshtomp use Dynamic Punch!"

"Lileep use Giga Drain!"

Ash commanded from the entrance, as he re entered the cave.

"Ash!" The group shouted in relief.

"Did you miss me?" Ash taunted.

"Glad to see you. Hope you brought more reinforcements though." Kiawe said exhausted.

"Is that an open wormhole?" Ash asked shocked.

"Yeah, they keep coming out, and we haven't been able to get close enough to it." Lillie said from around the corner.

"I have an idea, Kiawe keep my Pokémon working!" Ash said running through the battlefield.

"Please work!" Ash said focusing his aura. "I need your help!"

Moments later Naganadel flew out of the wormhole, striking down several Nihilego in its path.

"Pikachu use Corkscrew Crash!"

Ash called out his Z Move striking into a few of the other Nihilego.

With the recombined efforts, they were able to push back the Nihilego, and close the portal behind them. Shortly afterwards, Naganadel took off as well.

Later back at the school

"So clearly I've missed something." Ash said referencing his chest.

"We'd tell you, if we knew how you managed it ourselves." Mallow said a bit jealous.

"How long have I been out, for this to happen?" Ash asked.

"A month, we weren't sure when you'd come back." Kiawe said.

"As fun as this is, I should probably go see Professor Kukui, he's probably worried at this point." Ash said looking out the window.

"Good idea, will we see you tomorrow?" Mallow asked.

"I have some things I need to look into here in Alola still, so I'll be around for a while." Ash said heading towards the front gate.

At Kukuis house

"I'm home!" Ash said, entering the house.

"Welcome home Ashley." Burnett said from the kitchen. "How'd the mission go?"

"It went fine. There were a lot of them, but we managed." Ash said.

"That's good, how about you clean up and get ready for dinner." Burnett said, distracted. "Also set out a bowl for Pikachu…". She finished dropping the spoon in shock. "Pikachu! Wait Ash!" Burnett exclaimed hugging them both.

"I'm happy to see you Professor." Ash said.

"When did this happen? How did this happen? Does Kukui know?" Burnett spouted off.

"Just after the mission started. I angered a flock of Spearow, and no he doesn't know yet." Ash replied.

"I'm just so happy you're back. Tonight's a night to celebrate!" Burnett exclaimed.

Later that night

As Ash settled into his old bed, he thought about his plans. Serena had met Tapu Koko, he was going to get answers about what happened, he just needed to find him. Ash dosed off to sleep, not knowing what awaited him.
