Luz rushed back to her uncle's house. If her family was in danger, she was going to save them. She was putting things in her bag when her scroll started buzzing. She grabbed it and answered it. The first time it's rang since she destroyed the portal.
"H-hello?" Luz asked.
"Mija?"
"Mami?"
"Oh, Mija, you're all right. We were so scared when you burned the portal. Where are you?"
"Mami, I missed you so much. I-I-I'm at Uncle Carmelo's house. I'm coming home."
"Luz, you need to-"
"Mami?" Luz let out a sigh, "Guess it finally died."
Amity walked in and put a hand on Luz's shoulder.
"You ready?"
"Yeah, I just need to say goodbye to-"
She was cut off when she they heard a loud noise. They ran to the front and saw Carmelo being held against the wall by Nathaniel. He threw Carmelo to the other side of the room and walked towards Luz and Amity. They put their fingers up and started making spell circles when he grabbed them by the wrists. He tossed Amity into a thing of shelves. She was knocked out and he turned his attention back to Luz.
"It's time to show everyone who you really are." He said.
He placed a sleep spell on her and used his magic to teleport away, leaving the former Marine and Witchling unconscious on the living room floor. On the other side of town, Heather was walking into her house. Her family was the exact opposite poor, she was one of the richest people in town. Her parents never let her show off their wealth and she always makes sure she doesn't go around spending money.
"I'm home!" Heather said, taking her ring off.
Her mother, Susan, came in. She handed Heather a cup and hugged her.
"How was school today, my little blood sucker?"
"It was pretty good, I met Luz's girlfriend today."
"Really? What's her name?"
"Amity... Blight, I think."
"Oh, that bitch had children?" She asked, clearly disgusted by that last name.
"I'm guessing you heard something bad about Amity's family?"
"Your dad told me a story about the time a girl named Odalia Blight that would always mess with him. Hopefully, her daughter isn't like Odalia."
"Well, from what I saw, she's pretty nice." Heather said, "Where's dad?"
"Oh, he's working still. Apparently, there was some problems at the company."
"So, he won't come to the game tonight? It might be Luz's last one."
"I'm afraid not. I won't be able to make it either, he called and needs my help."
"For actual work or so he doesn't sink his fangs into someone?"
"Probably the latter." She kissed Heather's head and walked to the door, "I'll be back later. Have fun at the game."
Susan left the house and drove to Cadell's office. Heather downed the contents of the cup and smiled.
"If I was told a month ago that I would be drinking blood, I would've thought that person was insane." She said to herself.
Tracey walked downstairs and saw her mom on the couch. She walked over and looked over her mother's shoulder.
"You know, it's not polite to look over some's shoulder." Her mom said.
"Sorry, I was just... interested. Who's that?"
Tracey pointed at the black and red scaled, snake demon with white hair.
"That's your grandmother. Her name is Naja. Interesting fact, she's the influence for the Greek myth of Lamia."
"So, it's not really a myth." Tracey said, "Naja? Isn't that the Latin name for a cobra?"
"Yeah, Latin originated from the Boiling Isles. Just like in the Human Realm, it was relatively unused since the last time I was there. I take more after my father and grandfather. Here's him in his mortal form."
She pointed to a man with black hair, wearing a black suit with a black cane with a large red gem on the top. She flipped the page and pointed to anther picture.
"And here's his true form."
Tracey saw the tall, large reptile. He had large claws, hundreds of sharp teeth, and red eye's that would send a Titan to an early grave.
"He was more of a Komodo Dragon, or Thunder Lizard as they were called there. They were gigantic in the Isles. Practically dinosaurs."
"So, where did your wings come from?" Tracey asked.
"From my grandfather, he was a Winged Iguana. I took most of my looks from him, but did get a lot of things from my father, like his venomous bite."
"So, what would I look like?"
"Hard to say. Probably a combination of me and your grandparents."
She flipped the page and Tracey pointed at a picture.
"Was that you?"
She pointed to a picture of a young teenager with blonde hair.
"Yeah, I was fourteen, it was my first day of the new semester at Hexside. Good times."
She closed the book and Tracey looked at the name.
"Scyla Lucifer?"
"That was my name. I changed it to Katrina when I came here. This book was one of the few things I brought with me when I left."
"Do you ever want to go back?" Tracey asked.
"All the time. But I've been gone for so long, I don't know what would happen."
"I'm sure they would love to see you."
Alexander and Camila waited for Luz to return. To their surprise, Amity limped through the portal. She looked at them with a sad look.
"Nathaniel... he... he has her."
Alex clenched his fist and walked through the portal without a word. He's done playing Nathaniel's game. He's going to get his daughter back if it's the last thing he'll do. Never mess with a girl's father.
