The Day Before

Ringo was finishing homework at her brother's house on the remote island he lived at when she suddenly felt uneasy. "What the heck? Why do I feel..." She then got up and looked around her room, wondering what was causing her to feel on edge.

Then, she heard a familiar voice in her head. "Did you miss me?"

"You!" Ringo immediately recognized it. "You're the evil side of me! I thought Ichigo and my other big sisters killed you!"

"I was merely put out of commission for a bit," Dark Ringo replied sinisterly. "I need your body to face Deep Blue."

"But you work for him!" She was angry that this evil spirit continued to occupy her body.

"Not anymore," Dark Ringo replied. "I'm through with him. He's treated me like a joke, and I've had it. Now, let me in!"

Ringo then collapsed to the floor just as her older brother ran in. Mashio called to her, "Ringo! Ringo! What happened?! I heard you shouting! Ringo!"

Dark Ringo then got up, flashing her Mew Mark on her forehead. "Get out of my way, Akai Mashiro."

The fact she did not call him 'big brother' or a variant of it shocked him, as well as her slightly deeper and far more sinister voice. "What's gotten into you, Ringo?"

"I said get out of my way," Dark Ringo then yelled at him as she pointed at him and he fell to the floor, unconscious. "Don't worry, you'll wake up in an hour or two. That will give me plenty of time to get off of this island."

...

As Dark Ichigo had battled the Ghoul while trying to find Retasu and Ryou, Deep Blue sat in an office inside a rented space he had in Tokyo, using his archaeological excavation company as a cover. Once he had killed the Ghoul via making him snap his own neck, he muttered to himself at his desk, "The last thing I need are more defeats."

Then, he heard a knock at his door, followed by the voice of a female alien who worked for him as a secretary. "Master Deep Blue," she informed him. "You have a visitor who needs to see you."

"Who is it?"

Suddenly, the door burst open, revealing Dark Ringo and said secretary, who had opened the door under duress. Dark Ringo held a gun to her head and told her. "Now walk in slowly, and don't move a muscle, or I'll shoot."

"Master Deep Blue," the secretary pleaded with him in fear as tears fell down her face. "Please, help me..."

"Of all the people who would try to go behind my back," Deep Blue remarked to Dark Ringo. "Why the Hell would it be you? You occupy the body of a young girl, Nameless Spirit, and yet you think you can win against the adults in this room."

"Who's holding the gun here?" Dark Ringo then cocked the pistol, horrifying the secretary, before she smiled and fired a single shot into the back of the secretary's head, instantly killing her and splattering her blood on one of the walls of the room and on Deep Blue's desk, to which he did not flinch once as she then aimed the gun at his chest. "You. Me. Rooftop. Now. Bring your duel disk, too."

"You are really going to regret this," Deep Blue sighed in annoyance.

"Not when I'm the one who finally gets the respect they deserve," Dark Ringo spat back, raising her voice. "You barely involved me in any of this! You didn't even let me join in on the tournament, and because of your little subplot, I almost died at Ichigo's hands!"

"If that's how you feel, then defeat me in a duel. Be warned, though." He then stood up from his desk. "If you lose, you will die, and this time, you'll die for good."

"Don't count on it," Dark Ringo replied back to him.

...

On the rooftop of the office building, the two of them shuffled each other's decks before handing them back to each other. "I hope for your sake that you shuffled well," Deep Blue told his former servant. "And you put my Sacred Beasts all the way at the bottom."

"Whatever," she dismissed him with. The two then stepped back and readied their duel disks. "Let me guess, will this be a Shadow Game?"

"Correct," Deep Blue replied before snapping his fingers with his free arm, triggering dark clouds that surrounded the roof and prevented anyone on the outside from seeing into the duel. As the clouds encircled them, he told her, "The loser's body will disappear forever, and their soul or souls will go straight to the bottom pits of Hell. Seems simple enough, right?"

"Of course," she replied. "Now, let's duel!" The two then drew five cards before Dark Ringo drew a sixth card. "I'll go first. I summon Neo the Magic Swordsman, and then I activate Book of Secret Arts, boosting its attack to 2000 and its defense to 1300. I then set a card and end my turn."

"My turn," Deep Blue replied as he drew a card. "I summon Abaki to the field in defense position. I then activate Child's Play and Spell Absorption, which boosts my life points to 500!"

DEEP BLUE: 4500

DARK RINGO: 4000

"I wouldn't destroy Abaki if I were you," he warned. "If you do and it goes to the graveyard, we'll both lose 500 life points. I'd also be careful about summoning monsters, considering I'll now gain 300 life points every time you summon one."

"I'll have to be more careful from now on," she thought to herself. "If his life points hit 10,000, I won't be able to attack." She then drew a card and smiled, thinking to herself, "Or, maybe not..." She declared, "My turn! I activate De-Spell and destroy your Child's Play!"

"How foolish," Deep Blue remarked. "I'll gain 500 life points since you activated a Magic Card!"

DEEP BLUE: 5000

DARK RINGO: 4000

"No matter," Dark Ringo replied. "I summon La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp to the field next! Now, I'll have him attack your Abaki!" La Jinn then emerged from a lamp that was on the field and struck Abaki across its face, destroying it.

DEEP BLUE: 4000

DARK RINGO: 3500

"I'm not done yet! Neo the Magic Swordsman, attack him directly!" Neo then charged at Deep Blue, slicing him across the chest and upper body with his sword and causing him real pain due to the Shadow Game that was in place.

DEEP BLUE: 2000

DARK RINGO: 3500

"I then set a card and end my turn," Dark Ringo concluded. "I'd be careful about attacking me if I were you."

"My turn," Deep Blue began, ignoring her warning and drawing a card. "I activate Card Trader, allowing me to send a card back to my deck and draw another on my Standby Phase. I then set a card and end my turn." He thought to himself, "She doesn't know it yet, but she won't be able to cause any damage to me next turn."

DEEP BLUE: 2500

DARK RINGO: 3500

"This duel was too easy," Dark Ringo replied as she drew a card. "I sacrifice my Neo the Magic Swordsman and La Jinn to summon the Dark Magician of Chaos!" As both of her monsters disappeared into a fine mist, the Dark Magician of Chaos, normally an incredibly rare card, appeared on the field. "You should know exactly what this card does. After all, you gave it to me."

"I did indeed," Deep Blue conceded. "However, I also know its weaknesses."

"I get to add a Magic Card from my graveyard back to my hand once I summon it," Dark Ringo told him. "And I choose De-Spell! Now, Dark Magician of Chaos, attack him directly! Death Ultima!"

Just as the Dark Magician of Chaos was about to attack, Deep Blue declared as he pulled a card from his hand, "Reverse Card Open! Draining Shield! I negate the attack and gain 2800 life points!" Dark Magician of Chaos then stopped dead in its tracks and stared at Deep Blue in confusion for several seconds before returning to Dark Ringo's side of the field.

DEEP BLUE: 5300

DARK RINGO: 3500

"Damn it," Dark Ringo muttered to herself. "I end my turn." She then thought to herself as she looked at her hand, "Deep Blue can't rely on traps to save his ass all the time. Eventually, he'll slip up. I'm sure of it."

"My turn," Deep Blue declared as he drew a card. "I activate the effect of Card Trader to send a card back to my deck and draw a new one." As he shuffled his deck, he hoped to pull a card that could seal his victory. He then drew a card and laughed maniacally, reveling in what he pulled from his deck. "I activate Supply Squad, but I won't use it for its ability! Instead, I'll sacrifice Card Trader, Supply Squad, and Spell Absorption to summon Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder!"

DEEP BLUE: 5800

DARK RINGO: 3500

As Hamon emerged onto the field, a gust of wind enveloped Dark Ringo, forcing her to stand back as she stared at the mighty beast in awe. "No way! He got Hamon out already?!"

Deep Blue pointed right at the Dark Magician of Chaos as he declared, "Hamon, electrocute her magician to death! Lost Paradise Thunderclap!" Hamon then fired a massive beam of lightning from its mouth, striking the Dark Magician of Chaos and frying him in front of a horrified Dark Ringo just before she felt an incredibly sharp pain throughout her body, heard a loud ringing in her head, and fell to her knees. She tried to cover her ears to stop it, but doing so did nothing as a trickle of blood began to pour out of her right ear and covered her palm in red.

"Agh, damn it, it hurts!"

DEEP BLUE: 5800

DARK RINGO: 1300

"Due to the effect of Hamon," Deep Blue explained. "You also lose 1000 life points in addition to the 1200 points of damage you took! Additionally, your precious Dark Magician of Chaos is now removed from play by its own effect! Now, I'll end my turn."

Dark Ringo stumbled to her feet and took several deep breaths before readying herself for her next turn. "I better get a good card," Dark Ringo thought to herself as she drew a card and began her turn, preparing for the worst but hoping for the best.
