A.N. — After a prototypical Black family member, here is one cut from some different cloth. And he is, I believe, this collection's first featured Squib. He's a movie-only character, but yet he gets admitted to site's character list.
71. Marius Black
It was a relief to finally be blasted off the Black family tree.
Marius had only known pain while living at Grimmauld Place. Being a child who exhibited no accidental magic had gotten his relatives wondering, and they liberally used the Cruciatus curse to try to provoke his magic out of him. Instead, it did the opposite: first curling inward to shield the boy's mind and body, then fleeing entirely when the ordeal became too much to bear.
He was then promptly disowned and kicked out. Even through the trembling after-effects, Marius genuinely smiled as the house vanished behind him.
