This was a lot of fun, I miss this story but I need to get my vibe back with it.
The main part of the museum was one huge room with rockets and airplanes hanging from the ceiling. Three levels of balconies curled around, so you could look at the exhibits from all different heights. The place wasn't crowded, just a few families and a couple of tour groups of kids, probably doing one of those holiday school trips. Aaron was terrified despite the beautiful sight, a sight he wanted to drink in. He adored learning, but something felt off. He felt dark necromatic magics stirring in the place, stronger by far then when he used the power of the Spirits.
Thalia didn't seem to notice though, he could feel as much in her mind as they walked down the third tier ramp.
Aaron had no idea why they were there, what would bring them to such a place... it made no sense, or well it kind of did. Muesems were sources of great magic, where mythology and the natural world intersected. Maybe that was why they were there?
Thankfully Thalia felt the same, or something similar, and opened her mouth. "Why did your spell lead us here, Meggy?"
"Not sure, but it did. Artemis was here at some point, I cannot determine when but she was, her essence lingers here, can you not sense it?" She turned to the Hunters, her big brown eyes piercing them cooly. "She is your mistress, can you not sense her lingering presence here? I can, it seeps into the walls and fills the air with it's strength. Normally it would be harder to sense but this place is the literal opposite of her natural power, so it stands out."
"What could have brought her here?" Thalia asked, her tone edging towards annoyed. "Fun as this is, there is nothing here!"
Zoe almost growled. "Lady Artemis would have a good reason, do not question her."
The two girls looked ready to reach blows, when Meggy went ramrod straight. "Meggy can smell and hear something, powerful, it approaches fast... we need to prepare ourselves."
Almost immediatley, everyone fell into their stances, weapons drawns when Then everyone froze, and they heard a growl so loud it sounded more like an engine
Below them, a few adults screamed. A little kid's voice screeched with delight: "Kitty!"
Something enormous bounded up the ramp. It was the size of a pick-up truck, with silver claws and golden glittering fur. It radiated power, like Cerebus did, and it felt far more intelligent then a typical monster.
"The Nemean Lion," Thalia said. "Don't move."
The lion roared so loud it parted Thalia's short hair. Its fangs gleamed like stainless steel.
"Separate on my mark," Zoe said. "Try to keep it distracted."
"Meggy has an idea... keep the Kitty busy." The cyclops dug through her bag at a rapid pace, looking panicky and concerned but by far the most at ease of the bunch despite that.
"Hi-yah!" Thalia said. "Back!" Raising her shield, her powerful Aegis.
The lion growled and clawed the air, but it retreated as if the shield were a blazing fire.
Aaron panicked, he knew enough from his mother's million cast that there was more to the Lion's actions then just recoiling. It was crouching, its leg muscles tensing. It was going to pounce.
"Hey!" Percy yelled. He slashed with Riptide, a good strike to the flank that should've cut the monster into Meow Mix, but the blade just clanged against its fur in a burst of sparks.
The lion raked his brother with its claws, ripping off a chunk of his coat. He backed against the railing. It sprang atPercy, one thousand pounds of monster, giving Percy no choice but to turn and jump. However from there Thalia couldn't see him so neither could Aaron.
"Meggy, hurry up!" Thalia screamed before she charged the beast, slashing at it with her spear.
A mass of vials slammed into the beast as it recoiled from Thalia, making the thing hiss in agony as the mixture on it's skin started to boil. Meggy, who had been rummaging through her bag, rammed the beast with her body, sending it flying away. "Hit it with lightning, even a small amount, That mixture will create a gas that will knock it out."
Nodding, Thalia drew on her strength and Aaron could feel that. He felt her determination, her power, her drive. She thrust out her hand, and a spark of lightning rippled out and slammed into the beast as it recovered from Meggy's body slam. It snarled at them all however that meant nothing as the mixture on it's skin started to smoke and hiss and bubble, enveloping the beast with a thick acrid mist.
Within seconds they all heard the beast collapse, snoring loudly, knocked out by Meggy's potions.
Before anyone of them could react, to Aaron's pride, Meggy appraoched the damn thing and opened it's mouth, With a very angry fist, she slammed down hard, making the beast choke for a moment before dying. The lion seemed to be melting, until there was nothing left but its glittering fur coat, and even that seemed to be shrinking to the size of a normal lion's pelt... or maybe a bit bigger, big enough for Meggy, who quickly donned the damn thing.
"There, Meggy is happy. Now, shall we go? Miss Artemis awaits."
Everyone nodded, looking at the Cyclops with some hesitation... and more then a little fear. Zoe had to speak up naturally. "That was,... interesting. I had no idea you were so dangerous."
"Meggy tries. The potion was easy to make and I knew that mixing it with a sudden burst of heat would make it smoke, and that would knock out the kitty and I... can you feel that? Dark Necromatic magic."
Bianca nodded, to Aaron's utter lack of shock. " I can feel it too, it's approaching fast... we need to go. It is full of malice."
"How can you sense Necromatic magic?" Thalia asked, her tone shifting.
"My father, now enough questions we have to hurry and leave before we die. Let's go."
The vision ended then and shifted once more, this time they were in a random town...and Aaron could see nothing special about it. He hated missing details damn it... but he should consider himself lucky enough to see anything...
