There was a giant Metarex space station floating in deep space. Metarex craft of all kinds are flying around the station, or were docked, including the Metarex generals' battleships, MTRX-1s, and Metarex Fighters.
Everyone turned to attention as they saw Oak standing behind a lectern on a stage nearby.
"We have Sonic on the run. He is hiding somewhere in this area." Dark Oak said and gestured to the radar screen nearby.
"They picked an excellent refuge. There are intense electromagnetic waves in that region of space." Black Narcissus said.
"The scanners will be useless. He and his crewmates have the opportunity to recover from their battle." Pale Bayleaf said.
Zelkova was still eating his spicy curry.
"We will find them, and when we do, they will be completely destroyed! With your help, Dr. Eggman." Dark Oak said and Eggman looked confused. "Once Sonic has been eliminated, the victory of the Metarex will be assured. Any resistance against us will be futile!" he said and walked off the stage.
"We'll stomp on those rebels like they're a bunch of ants! And then we'll fulfill the destiny of the galaxy!" Yellow Zelkova said.
The Metarex Troopers neared him snap to attention and Bayleaf chuckled. Narcissus walked away, and noticed Eggman standing there.
What's the matter, Doctor? Don't you like the plan?" Narcissus said.
At the Metarex space station.
"Speak up! You do have an objection, don't you?" Narcissus asked.
"All right, if you insist on knowing. One thing still bothers me about you Metarex. I can't figure out what you're trying to accomplish with all this destruction. I can understand trying to conquer planets, but if you keep up this rampage, across the galaxy, there won't be anybody left to rule over. It doesn't make sense!" Eggman said.
"For someone of your reputation, Doctor, you have a surprising lack of vision."
"I'm beginning to suspect that you Metarex have completely lost your minds!"
"Perhaps, Doctor. But the question is: What are you going to do about it? The time has come for you to choose sides. Will you join our quest to transform the galaxy?" Narcissus said and Eggman grinned. "Or will you fight against us with Sonic?"
On the Croc Canteen it was nighttime and the Chaotix' detective office was converted into a canteen. Aliens of all kinds were seated at various tables with drinks. Charmy flew by with several drinks.
"Welcome to Vector's Juice Bar! We put the squeeze on your thirst!" Charmy said.
Espio was washing glasses, while Vector was playing the piano.
"I bet you didn't know I'm such a musical maestro, didn't ya? You shouldn't be surprised. I'm more than just a pretty face. As a croc, I'm naturally swamped with talent! But you're probably wonderin' why I'm playin piano instead of doin' detective work. It all started after the boys and me said adios to the crew of the Blue Typhoon..." Vector said.
The Chaotix' spaceship - Flashback.
The spaceship was cruising through space and Espio was reading directions.
"Okay, Vector, make a right just before the next star system." Espio said so they drove past a traffic light in space.
"Space travel sure can be boring. Somebody oughta build a rest stop in this part of the galaxy so you can get out and stretch your legs." Vector said.
"Oh boy! I wish we could stop and grab a bite to eat!" Charmy said.
"There aren't any rest stops listed here." Espio said.
"Let's see... Hm..." Vector said and saw a wormhole up ahead, the Galaxy Corridor. "Maybe we'll find one over there.
Espio looked at the map again.
"I don't see that place on the map." he said.
"Let's check it out!" Charmy said.
"All rightie! After all, investigating unknown mysteries is part of a detective's job!" Vector said.
"Go for it, Vector!"
They felt the warping effects of the entrance to the Galaxy Corridor.
"What the...?" Vector started.
"It's some kind of gravity field." Espio said.
"Boy, is it totally cool!" Charmy said.
On the Croc Canteen.
"So, we ended up crach-landing on this planet. Huh?" Vector said and saw Charmy talking with a customer.
"Send me a bill and I'll pay it next month." Customer said.
"Well, I, uh..." Charmy said.
"Somethin' wrong?" Vector asked and the customer blushed.
"This clown says he's gonna pay us later."
"Later?"
"Next week, maybe." the customer said.
Vector wrapped his arm around the customer.
"Listen, pal, the policy in this establishment is when you pig out, you have to pay up!" he said.
"What are you gonna do, Vector?" Charmy asked.
"Let's see... I could try to squeeze the money out of him..."
"I know! What if I pay you tomorrow?"
"No way! It's cash or bash if you get my drift!"
Later, the customer finally paid Charmy.
"That's everything I owe." he said and left embarrassed.
"Come back soon!" Charmy said.
"We won't be getting rich at this rate, Vector." Espio said.
"We just need to earn enough dough to pay for ship repairs. Then we can be on our way." Charmy said then they heard the door open. "Hi! What can we get ya?" Charmy said.
They saw Eggman, Decoe, and Bocoe standing in the doorway. Decoe and Bocoe were holding posters.
"It's Eggman!" Vector said.
"Is that you, Vector?" Eggman asked.
"What are you doin' here?"
"I'm looking for someone."
"Oh yeah?"
From out of nowhere, Vector pulled out a desk, a paper, a pen, and a pair of reading glasses.
"Now, I'll need a name or alias, so you'll have to give me a description, too." he said.
Eggman snapped his fingers, and Decoe unrolled a poster. To Vector's shock, it was a wanted poster for Chris, Cosmo, Amy, Cream, Knuckles, Tails, and Sonic.
"Huh? How come you're lookin' for Sonic?" Vector asked.
"The Metarex would like to ask you a few questions." Eggman said.
Decoe lifted the poster.
"They want to have a friendly chat, huh?" Espio asked as Vector put away his gear.
"Forget it, Eggman! You'd have to be a low-life to work for the Metarex!" he said.
"Check this out!" Eggman said and reached into his coat and pulled out a picture, which appeared to be a cross between a spider, a skull, and a bomb.
"You wanna play cards?"
"This happens to be my new business card. I guess you haven't heard the Metarex made me one of their top four commanders! What a simpleton. Hurry and get all those posters plastered up!"
"Sure thing, Doctor!" Bocoe said.
"Hm... This looks like a good spot." Decoe said and they got to work putting the posters up while Vector waved his hands.
"Now hold on a second! I don't want my walls covered in wanted posters! Find someplace where they ain't gonna be an eyesore!" Vector said.
"If you say so." Bocoe said as Decoe crawled under a table.
"With all the chewing gum under this table, I do not even need tape." he said.
As Decoe plastered the poster to the underside of the table, Eggman sat at the counter.
"I'll have an ice-cold refreshing glass of water." he said as Espio continued washing the dishes. "I said water!" he continued as Espio turned off the water. "Too late, Eggman. "I wish you would dry up."
"We are done putting up the posters, Doctor." Decoe and Bocoe said.
Eggman stood up.
"If you do see Sonic and his friends, contact me right away. Understand?" he said.
"Sorry, Eggman, but I happen to be a crocodile, not a stool pigeon." Vector said.
"Let's ditch this dump." Eggman said to Decoe and Bocoe.
"Yes, Doctor." Bocoe said.
"Where will we go next?" Decoe asked.
"What are you gonna do, Vector? Will you let Sonic know about this?" Charmy asked as they watched them leave.
"You betcha." Vector said.
Later the Chaotix were upstairs with the Blue Typhoon's crew. Only Tails and Cosmo were absent. Sonic and Knuckles were at a table, eating.
"Eggman's putting up wanted posters?!" Knuckles said.
"He's hunting us down like we're criminals!" Cream said.
"This is bad news. If the Metarex find out we're hiding on this planet, They'll send a fleet after us. We won't have a chance." Chris said.
"Chao chao." Cheese said.
"We need to fix our ship and get out of here." Amy said.
"You guys can't go outside! One of the locaks might turn you all in!" Vector said.
"Then I'll make sure none of 'em see me!" Sonic said watching himself running around outside.
The Metarex Troopers stationed outside glance at each other, confused.
"We need parts. Tails and Cosmo are waiting at the ship for them." Knuckles said.
Outside.
"I wonder where Sonic and the others are." Tails said.
"What if the Metarex found them?" Cosmo said.
Back upstairs.
"I'll just dash to the store and buy the parts we need." Sonic said.
"But when you pay at the register, they'll see your face!" Vector said and saw himself zipping past a cashier repeatedly.
"Hey, this isn't the express lane, buddy!" the cashier said.
"Okay, you're right. I can't do any shopping." Sonic said.
"What are we gonna do? Without those parts, we'll be stuck here." Chris said.
The group spent a little time thinking.
"Why don't you let me buy the parts for ya?" Vector asked.
Chris, Amy, and Cream looked surprised.
"Would you really?" Cream asked.
"Sure, I run errands all the time when I'm doin' undercover work." Vector said and pulled out a picture of himself shopping and walking a dog. "As you can see, I don't just collar crooks."
"Uh... Sorry, but we've only got enough cash for the parts." Sonic said.
'If I was at home I'd have plenty of it though.' he thought.
"Aw, don't worry about my salary. I think you guys are A-okay, so I'll take an IOU."
"Then it's settled!" Charmy said.
"All right, then. Here's your shopping list." Amy said and pulled out a paper and a money purse.
At the hardware store Vector was shopping alone in the store. He glanced at his list before seeing an item on the shelf.
"This is one of the parts I need for my ship." he said to himself. "I'm shoppin' for Sonic! I ain't no crooked croc!" he said frustrated.
Then he selected a few other items, and soon arrived at the checkout.
"One power module, one gravity stabilizer, two quantum flux capacitors, one hyper hammer, three laser fusion units, one air pressure..." Cashier said.
Unbeknownst to him, a Metarex Trooper was spying on him.
"Come in, Commander." Trooper said on the radio.
On Pale Bayleaf's Battleship.
"So, my instincts were correct. Sonic is hiding on that planet. When he fixes his ship and returns to space, I'll be waiting for him!" Bayleaf said as his right eye twinkled.
Outside the Croc Canteen Sonic cautiously watched as Eggman, Decoe, and Bocoe stopped outside the canteen.
"We've put up wanted posters all around town." Decoe said.
"It was exhausting..." Bocoe said.
Eggman stared intently at the window.
"Is there something wrong, Doctor?" Decoe said.
"It's none of your business. Let's go!" Eggman said.
"Roger!"
"Whatever." Bocoe said.
They were about to leave, but Eggman stopped and stared at the window for a long period of time before leaving. Sonic started to cross in front of the window, but was forced back as Bocoe looked up at the window. After looking away, he looked back when he thought he saw Sonic in the window again. Bocoe left. Sonic tried to cross in front of the window yet again, but he sweatdrops when Bocoe returned. He finally left, though.
Upstairs Sonic wiped his brow.
"For a second there, I thought he saw me." he said.
They heard voices downstairs.
"How'd it go, Vector?" Charmy asked.
"No problem." Vector said.
The others crawled out from under the table.
"All right, let's go help Vector unload the parts." Knuckles said.
Chris nodded.
"Chao!" Cheese said.
Outside the Blue Typhoon.
"Maybe they did run into trouble." Tails said.
"It must be the Metarex." Cosmo said.
Upstairs the Croc Canteen.
"These... parts are heavy!" Knuckles said on voice over.
"Look out!" Chris said on voice over.
"Chao!" Cheese said on voice over.
There was a huge thump as all the parts were put on the floor upstairs. Chris helped to bring the last part upstairs.
"This is the last part." he said.
"Let's call Tails to pick this up in the X-Tornado." Amy said.
"Chao." Cheese said while she opened her comlink, but Chris stopped her.
"They could be monitoring our communications." Chris said.
"Huh? What are you saying? You expect us to carry the parts there?" Amy asked.
Vector crawled up top.
"I can take you guys over." he said.
"Oh, really?" Sonic said.
"Sure! I'm a warm-hearted reptile!"
On the Chaotix' spaceship the Croc Canteen was marked closed. Everyone was inside the Chaotix' spaceship.
"Okay, hang on, everybody!" Vector said.
"Vector, I'm in your restaurant. We need to talk." Eggman said over the radio.
"That figures." Chris said.
"What's Eggman doing here?" Amy asked. "I'd like to give him a piece of my mind and fist!" she said in a shaking fist.
"Don't worry; I'll go show Dr. Egghead the exit!" Vector said. "Be right back." he said and stood up.
On the Croc Canteen Vector found Eggman sitting alone inside.
"I already told you I'm not gonna help ya, Eggman!" he said.
"If you're this rude to all your customers, it's no wonder this place is empty." Eggman said.
On the Chaotix' spaceship.
"What does he want, anyway?" Amy asked.
"Eggman's a pain." Chris said.
On the Croc Canteen.
"We're closed up for the night!" Vector said.
"I'm not leaving this stool." Eggman said.
"Oh, really?"
"I came here to celebrate, and that's exactly what I'm going to do, Vector."
"Celebrate what?"
"Before this night is over, I'm going to be rid of Sonic the Hedgehog once and for all. The Metarex sent me to track down Sonic, and now I've figured out exactly where he's hiding." Eggman said. "Sonic doesn't suspect anything, so he won't stand a chance when the Metarex attack." he said and chuckled.
On the Chaotix' spaceship.
"So Eggman is setting us up!" Knuckles said.
'As usual.' he thought.
"This is bad! What do we do, Sonic?" Cream asked.
Sonic grinned a toothy grin, confusing the others.
Knuckles had an idea what's going on though.
At the Croc Canteen.
After a moment's hesitation, seeing Eggman wasn't about to leave, Vector poured a drink for Eggman.
"How about some juice?" Vector asked and Eggman grinned.
On the Chaotix' spaceship.
"Huh? No way!" Amy said.
"Vector was supposed to get rid of Eggman!" Knuckles said with his hands on his hips.
"Yeah, what's he letting him hang around for?" Chris asked.
"Dr. Eggman doesn't get to defeat us very often, so he really deserves to enjoy it this time!" Sonic said.
The others were astonished at Sonic's behavior.
On the Croc Canteen Eggman sipped his beverage.
"Let me tell you, those Metarex aren't kidding around. They've had enough of Sonic and his friends, and this time they're planning to pull out all the stops to make sure he's destroyed once and for all." Eggman said.
"Really? What are they gonna do?" Vector said.
"It's a secret. Let's just say it'll involve a whole fleet of ships attacking the Blue Typhoon. I almost wish I could give Sonic some kind of warning. I'm sure he's much rather be beaten by me than by those miserable Metarex." Eggman said and laughed.
On the Chaotix' spaceship.
"Eggman's got some ego!" Amy said with her hands on her hips.
"I wish I could go in there and tell him off!" Cream said with her hands on her hips.
Sonic relished the conversation, not able to get enough.
On the Croc Canteen.
"I'll be shoving off now." Eggman said and stood up.
"I don't ever wanna see you in here again, Eggman!" Vector said.
"That's the best news I've had all day." Eggman said and left.
But as he neared the door, he received a radio call.
"Come in, Doctor!" Bokkun said over the radio.
"What now?" Eggman said over the radio.
On the Crimson Egg.
"I thought you should know I just spotted Bayleaf's fleet!" Bokkun said on the radio.
On the Croc Canteen.
"All right. Keep me posted." Eggman said on the radio. "Oh well. I guess Sonic's a goner. That fleet will stay in orbit around the planet waiting for the Blue Typhoon to take off so they can destroy it. Yes, the second the Metarex spot that ship, it will be blown into a billion bits! There won't be any escape for Sonic the Hedgehog this time!" he said off the radio and left.
"Huh. He could use an acting coach." Vector said.
On the Chaotix' spaceship.
"We can't leave the planet now even if we fixed the ship!" Chris said.
"But if we stay here, sooner or later they'll track us down and attack us anyway." Amy said.
"We're trapped... and we can't put up a fight! Our laser cannons aren't powerful enough to take on an entire fleet!" Knuckles said to himself.
"Thanks for the tipoff, Eggman." Sonic said to himself grinning.
On Pale Bayleaf's Battleship.
"I'm waiting for you, Sonic!" Bayleaf said.
On the Blue Typhoon bridge the Chaotix' spaceship was parked next to the Typhoon.
"Do you know how many ships the Metarex have in their fleet?" Cosmo asked voiceover
"'Fraid not." Knuckles said.
Amy waved her arms.
"Why don't you just sue the scopes?" she asked.
"They're not working. I just disconnected all the scopes to make repairs, and it'll take hours to reconnect them." Tails said.
"What are the options?" Cosmo asked.
"If we just sit around here, we won't have any chance of getting away." Sonic said.
"What should we do?"
"We have to repair our ship and take on that fleet." he said. "You wanna join us?" he asked the Chaotix,
They waved their hands in protest.
"No offense, Sonic, but we'd rather play it safe than be sorry." Vector said.
On Pale Bayleaf's Battleship Bayleaf was playing chess with a robot. A Metarex Trooper approached.
"Sir, a ship has just left the planet." Trooper said.
"Put it up on the viewscreen." Bayleaf said.
"Roger."
As the chess-playing robot rolled away, Bayleaf studied the screen to see that the Blue Typhoon was leaving the planet.
Bayleaf stood up.
"That's the Blue Typhoon! ... Deploy cannons!" he said and the ship's cannons were trained on the Typhoon. "Fire!"
The battleship fired at the Typhoon. Meanwhile, the Chaotix' spaceship was rolling along the moon's surface. An explosion burst far above it.
"I've done it! I've defeated Sonic the Hedgehog! We must leave immediately to deliver the good news to Dark Oak in person!" Bayleaf said.
On the Croc Canteen the canteen was open. Charmy flew by with more beverages.
"Comin' right up!" he said.
It was business as usual, with Espio washing glasses and Vector playing the piano. Eggman entered. He appeared beaten up, and his right arm in a sling. Vector sweatdropped when he saw him.
"Play it again, Vector." Eggman said.
"I thought I told you to never come back here." Vector said.
"Believe me, I didn't want to come back, but I didn't have any place else to go." Eggman said and sat at the counter. "I'll have a prune juice and a soft-boiled egg."
"Well, Vector?" Espio asked and
Vector looked up briefly before returning to his piano playing.
"Give him what he wants." he said.
"Are you sure?" Espio asked and got out a bottle and a glass.
"Yeah, and it's all on the house, too."
Espio shrugged and poured Eggman's beverage, also setting a whole, uncracked egg before him. Eggman cracked the egg into the beverage.
"Here's to my best enemy." he said and drank.
On the planet the Typhoon was damaged on the surface. The ground opened up to reveal the Crimson Egg. Decoe, Bocoe, and Bokkun making repairs on it.
"Why did we have to protect Sonic?" Bocoe asked.
"Yeah, I thought Dr. Eggman wanted to see him destroyed." Decoe said.
"If you ask me, the doc's startin' to go soft... in the head." Bokkun said.
On the Bridge the Blue Typhoon flew freely into space never destroyed.
"I thought there was supposed to be a Metarex fleet waiting for us! But there isn't even a single ship here!" Knuckles said voiceover.
"We should have suspected all along it was a lie. I guess Eggman was just trying to psych us out." Amy said.
"I'm glad he lied. If there was a fleet here, we'd be in trouble. Wouldn't we, Sonic?" Chris said but Sonic said nothing.
On the Croc Canteen Eggman grinned along with Vector.
On the Blue Typhoon bridge.
"Thanks, Doctor. You're not such a bad egg after all." Sonic said to himself.
'I will complete the prophecy though.' he thought.
