Feudal Diaries:

Battle

Inuyasha © Rumiko Takahashi

Summary- Kagome, Miroku, and Sango struggle against the enemy, but the night's not over yet. Part 3 of a short story series.

"HIRAIKOTSU!"

The gigantic bone spun through the air, tearing through the snake demons like a lawnmower over grass, splitting their heads from their bodies. Kirara roared as she lunged at another serpent, ripping its head off right off with her razor-sharp fangs, then leaping off to find her next victim. Miroku used his staff to stab another snake demon through its head, then sliced through the neck of another before he threw several sutras through the air, and as they connected, the snakes hissed in pain as they soon disintegrated to dust.

Several snake demons screeched as they lunged for Kagome, who gritted her teeth as she loosed her arrow of purification, obliterating the demons... and yet, more kept coming out from the shadows.

"There's no end to them!" Miroku shouted as he sliced through another snake demon's head.

"We have to keep fighting them for as long as we can!" Sango replied while she slit the belly of another demon using her wakizashi. "Inuyasha's depending on us!" She then gasped as she noticed three more of the snakes attempting to ambush the monk from behind, causing her to hoist her Hiraikotsu over her head. "GET DOWN, MIROKU!"

Miroku quickly ducked down as Sango threw her weapon at the snakes, which were all obliterated in the blink of an eye.

"Thank you!" the monk called out quickly.

As for Kagome, she shot another snake demon with her arrows, but more just kept coming out of the shadows in droves. She growled, growing frustrated with the increasing numbers, but she wouldn't give up. Not while Inuyasha was still inside, fighting for his own life.

'Inuyasha... you've always protected us...' she thought. 'Now we'll protect you, instead!'

She then loosed another arrow into the air, obliterating another demon.

As they continued fighting, Miroku couldn't help but feel just a bit of frustration as he kept using his staff to cut down any more snake demons. If it weren't for the fact that they had demonic venom in them, he could use his Wind Tunnel to get rid of them all, no problem... but he couldn't risk it. There was no point in making Kagome and especially Sango worry more.

As for Sango, she panted as she found herself feeling a bit winded... but nonetheless, she threw her Hiraikotsu through the air to take several more snake demons. She then turned to Kirara, who just got through ripping off the head of another serpent before the nekomata dropped it on the ground. Though she didn't seem to look it, it seemed like Kirara was beginning to run out of steam, herself. If things continued like this, they would all be devoured...

But no... they wouldn't let it go on like this. They had to keep fighting for their friend's sake.

Feeling their second wind, the four soon rushed into battle once more while inside the barn, Inuyasha remained asleep with a nervous Shippo at his side.

"...Please hang on, Inuyasha..." the little kit whispered. "Please...!"

This one actually took a bit longer, but the next part is the last!
