Awakening of Evil Part 3

I don't own Digimon or Yu-Gi-Oh

"You don't scare me. I'll find a way to crush that oversized bug of yours, just you wait, Marik." Daisuke said bravely to Odion.

"That would be quite the achievement, given how my Mystical Beast of Serket is stronger than all three of your monsters, Miss Wheeler." Odion said dismissively as his monster had 2500 Attack points and 2000 Defense points whereas Daisuke's Legendary Fisherman had only 1850 Attack points, both her Jinzo and Red Eyes Black Dragon had 2400 Attack points. "The only question is which monster it should first devour, and don't even try to stop it. Because there isn't a card in your deck powerful enough to do it."

"There has to be some way she can fight back." Tea said desperately.

"Don't ask me." Mai replied, her arms crossed, a look of worry etched across her face.

"Hey Yugi, my sister can still win this right?" Serenity asked Yugi softly.

"Of course, he can. Marik may have the upper hand for now, but Daisuke just needs to find out the weakness to his monster." He answered with a small smile.

"What about the card locked inside the ark, the Winged Dragon of Ra?" Mai asked him.

"That's Marik's Egyptian God Card. Daisuke must deplete Marik's life-points before he can summon it." He answered.

Odion turned to Marik once again while the others were distracted. "Master Marik, why did you put the Winged Dragon of Ra into my deck?"

"If we're going to deceive these fools into believing you are me, you must duel as I do Odion. Of course, the Winged Dragon of Ra in your deck is a mere copy of the original. I couldn't risk losing the rarest card in Duel Monsters, so I had the Rare Hunters produce several counterfeit cards, these forgeries are exact duplicates of the original and equally as powerful. The Rare Hunters tested each sample until we got it exactly right, of course when dealing with monsters as powerful as the Egyptian Gods, accidents are bound to happen." Marik informed him.

"So, you sacrificed innocent lives to perfect the forgeries?" Odion asked him in disbelief.

"Do not question my methods Odion, those Rare Hunters who perished were weaklings. Unable to control Ra's power. It was then I realized only those with a connection to the ancient scriptures can successfully use an Egyptian God Card, and I have no doubt you will succeed when you play it." Marik answered.

"Thank you Master Marik…but I believe I can win this duel without taking that chance." Odion replied before he looked at Daisuke. "Now then Miss Wheeler, it's time for you to make your final move, with the Swords of Revealing Light still in effect you cannot hope to attack."

"You're going down." Daisuke replied, drawing her next card she paled. "A Polymerization card, that's no good to me right now. I have to find a way to stop his monster." She thought before she sighed deeply. "I keep all my monsters in defense mode, and I'll take my chances."

"What's her strategy Mai?" Tea asked the blonde.

"Right now, all she can do is buy herself a little bit of time." She replied as the Swords of Revealing Light expired as three turns had elapsed since the magic card had been activated.

"A desperate move, prepare yourself. Mystical Beast of Serket, attack her Jinzo now!" Odion commanded. His mighty beast rushed over to Daisuke's side of the field and with both claws, ripped Jinzo in half destroying him and Daisuke stumbled back in shock at the brutality of the monster.

"Oh man…" She whispered.

"And now behold my beast's power, not only does it destroy your monsters it also adds half of their Attack points to its own." Odion explained as the Mystical Beast of Serket stood on its hind legs, its body seemingly shifting and turning into a bipedal sort of monster, the mystical eye on its head glowing faintly as its Attack points climbed to 3700.

"Oh man that thing got big and ugly too…" Joey said, looking up at the monster in worry. "If this keeps up…Big Sis…"

"It'll be too late." Yugi said.

Daisuke drew her next card and saw it was Shield and Sword. "I can't do anything with this, it would affect my monsters too, none of them have high enough Defense points to switch with their Attack points." She thought. "I pass my turn, so just go."

"I will, Mystical Beast of Serket, devour her Legendary Fisherman!" Odion commanded, his beast grabbing Daisuke's monster and cutting the fisherman in half while devouring the shark he was riding much to the disgust of everyone watching. "My creature continues to grow stronger."

Sure enough, his monster gained a large shark-like dorsal fin on its back as its Attack power rose from 3700 to 4625.

"Daisuke, hang in there!" Tea shouted.

"Yeah, this chump has got nothing on you." Mai added.

"Oh, my sister, I can't watch." Serenity whimpered, her eyes filling with tears as she turned and began running away.

"Serenity, come back!" Daisuke pleaded, making her sister stop and turn to look at her. "Don't leave now, I can't do this duel without you or Joey. You're my biggest inspiration sis."

"Do you mean that?" Serenity asked her.

"Of course I do. Where do you think I get all my courage from, you and Joey are my family, so you have to stay and cheer me on." Daisuke said with a smile missing Odion's eyes widening slightly when she mentioned family.

"Ah yes, I have known comfort like that. Family can chase away the shadows of fear, like a light from above. I was only an infant, but I can still remember when light touched my life for the first time." He thought, looking up at the moon above its light shined down upon the blimp. "My mother took me into her home beneath the desert sands, she raised me as her own child. Though my father deemed me as unworthy to carry on the family's duties as Tomb keeper, my mother always held hope. However, all that changed when she gave birth to her two children, Lady Ishizu and Master Marik. Our roles were defined from the day of Master Marik's birth, I was to be his protector and he was to continue his family legacy."

"I swore to never leave his side, to always protect him. But on the day, he would go through the Tomb Keepers initiation and be marked with the Ancient Scriptures, something within him changed. I sensed a darkness begin to form inside of his heart, had only I acted sooner or done something different, I could have saved him from a life of darkness." He thought, his heart heavy with grief and regret.

"Odion, what's taking so long? Finish off Daisuke Wheeler so we can move on to our real opponents, we must defeat Yugi and Kaiba so that I may claim what is rightfully mine." Marik's voice echoed in his mind.

"I'm still in this duel." Daisuke said, drawing her next card and she sighed softly as she saw it was Salamandra. "Why do I even still have this card in my deck, its useless to me and now I've got nothing left." She thought. "I'll leave my Red Eyes Black Dragon in defense mode and sit tight."

"A smart move. But forfeiting this duel would have been an even smarter move." Odion told her.

"Not a chance. With my sister and brother here supporting me, I'll never give in. My sister can finally see me duel, and there is no way I am going to lose!" Daisuke replied.

"How very touching." Odion said with a glare.

"Too bad, she's made some great comebacks. But now it looks like it's all over." Mai said softly, looking at Daisuke with a smile. "She's come a long way since I dueled her at Duelist Kingdom."

"Wait, look at her eyes." Yugi told her and Mai did so before gasping seeing Daisuke's eyes glowing with a flame of determination.

"Your turn." Daisuke told Odion.

"Stand back as my Mystical Beast of Serket finishes off your dragon!" Odion said as his monster attacked Red Eyes Black Dragon and destroyed it and the dragon's wings appeared on the beast's back as its Attack points climbed to 5825.

"I'm sorry Red Eyes, forgive me for failing you." Daisuke whispered, closing her eyes for a moment in sadness.

"It's your final move, so good luck. You'll need it." Odion told Daisuke who drew her next card.

"Looks like I pass again." She said softly. "So make your big move."

"Poor Dai." Kari whispered.

"She fought well, only Marik fought even better." Mai said.

"Looks like I won't get to see Marik's Egyptian God Card after all." Kaiba thought displeased at the outcome of this duel.

"I'm not gonna lose." Daisuke said softly, but everyone heard her and looked at her in shock. "Can't explain it, but it's like a voice in my head telling me I won't lose. So, go ahead and take your best shot, Marik." She continued.

"Oh, I will and once my beast attacks your life-points, you will be history!" Odion told her.

"Before you make your big move, I got something I want to say to you first." Daisuke told him with a glare. "I'll never forget when you controlled my mind and forced me to hurt my best friend in your sick idea of a duel. You didn't have the courage to face Yugi yourself, so you used me to do your dirty work like a coward."

"I'm facing you, now aren't I? And look at the score. I'm destroying you in a duel face to face." Odion told her.

"And now you bring that up, it's funny." Daisuke said. "Ever since this duel started, I've had a weird feeling about you. You don't seem like the same guy from before, sure you acted all tough and scary and creepy at the pier, but you don't strike me as the guy to actually control my mind. And see this birthmark on my wrist?" she held up her wrist showing her marking to Odion who looked at it and his eyes widened.

"That's…" he thought.

"This birthmark of mine is special, it always seems to act up whenever a Millennium Item is around, or when something connected to Yami's past is nearby. Not once has it even tingled when around you. Now why do you think that is?" she asked him with a glare. "The only thing I can think of is if you're not Marik!"

Odion glared at her while Marik narrowed his eyes and grit his teeth. "Nonsense, you're insane. Of course, that duelist is Marik." Kaiba said and Daisuke rolled her eyes.

"Then why didn't he play his Egyptian God Card when he drew the card? Only someone not confident in using it would seal it away inside that big old temple rather than summon it." She spoke.

"Daisuke's right, he doesn't seem like the same madman who has tried to steal my Millennium Puzzle, I also don't sense the same darkness around him." Yugi thought.

"So, who's the real snake in the grass?" Mai asked with a frown, Daisuke thought about it before her eyes widened before she glanced off to the side her glare directly aimed at the real Marik down below behind her friends.

"No, if I'm exposed my plan will be ruined!" he thought.

"Nonsense!" Odion shouted, pulling out his Millennium Rod. "Only the real Marik can wield the Millennium Rod, so consider that before believing some marking on your hand, or voices in your head!"

"Still not believing it." Daisuke said simply. "My mark's not acting up." She said gesturing to her birthmark which showed no signs of reacting to Odion's Millennium Rod.

"Enough of this. It's time to end this duel." Odion said.

"Odion wait!" Marik's voice shouted in his mind. "Don't attack her yet!"

"Master Marik, why did you…"

"Destroy her with the Egyptian God Card, play the Winged Dragon of Ra!" Marik ordered him, a look of madness in his eyes. "It's the only way to keep my true identity a secret, they all must believe you are me!"

"But it's too dangerous Master! Please don't make me unseal the Winged Dragon of Ra from the sacred ark." Odion begged.

"Do as I command, play the Winged Dragon of Ra so that I may rule as Pharaoh!" Marik demanded.

"But Master Marik…"

"Listen to me Odion. For as long as I can remember you've longed to join my family, now your chance has come to join the Tomb Keeper clan by serving me, your future Pharaoh. Now fulfil your oath and play the Egyptian God Card." Marik's voice echoed in his mind and Odion steeled his nerve.

"Yes, I'll be a true Tomb Keeper. I know the dangers are great, but I must serve my master." He thought.

"Why isn't he attacking Daisuke?" Joey asked.

"No clue, but I can only guess something bad is about to happen." Veemon said in worry.

"Alright Miss Wheeler, prepare to experience an ancient power like nothing you've ever seen before or will see again. I am Marik and I'll prove it by summoning my Egyptian God Card." Odion said holding his Millennium Rod in his hand.

"Didn't see that coming." Daisuke said.

"Oh no, he is going to summon his Egyptian God Card after all." Mai said in worry.

"In order to release my beast from inside the ark, I must sacrifice my Mystical Beast of Serket first, once this giant guardian of the temple is no more. I can release the most powerful creature that ever walked the Earth." Odion said.

"Be very careful Daisuke!" Yugi called to his friend.

Odion turned to face the Temple of the Kings and the ark at the top of the steps. "Ancient one, hear my call I offer up my Mystical Beast of Serket, along with half my life-points to release thee." The flames along the steps of the temple went out, Odion's life-points fell to 200 and his monster shattered like glass. "Come forth oh great one. And unleash your power upon those who stand in the way of the future Pharaoh, King Marik!" he continued as the ark began glowing with a mixture of green and purple light.

"Excellent." Marik thought with a smirk.

Everyone watched in worry or anticipation as the ark continued glowing before the lid was thrown off it and a beam of light shot into the heavens, the clouds in the sky darkening and forming into a spiral above the blimp. Lightning began to shoot through the sky with bright lights and flames rising from behind the Temple of the Kings.

"The third card…" Yugi whispered.

Daisuke stepped back; her eyes wide as she stared at the massive dragon covered in gold as it appeared behind Odion's temple. "Let all who doubt my power fall to the might of the Winged Dragon of Ra!" Odion said as the Egyptian God unleashed a tremendous roar.

"That thing looks unstoppable!" Tristan shouted.

"It is." Yugi said grimly.

"The final Egyptian God Card, at last it's revealed." Kaiba said with a smirk.

"Behold the strongest of the Egyptian God Cards, a being with power like no other. And remember my Mystical Beast of Serket absorbed the power of your Jinzo, your Legendary Fisherman and your Red Eyes Black Dragon, this gave it an enormous attack strength of 5825. Attack points that have now become the Winged Dragon of Ra's once it attacks you. You will wish you never joined this tournament, prepare for the end." Odion said, laughing while Daisuke looked on bravely despite the Winged Dragon of Ra's bright red eyes glaring down at her.

"So, what're you waiting for? Take your best shot." She told him.

"What happens now, you saw how badly Bakura got hurt when your Egyptian God Monster attacked him during your duel." Mai said to Yugi.

"These things are dangerous." Tea said in agreement.

"Come and get me, I'm standing right here." Daisuke taunted Odion while Marik watched on with a smirk.

"You've made our family proud today Odion, your handling of the Egyptian God Card copy proves you are one of us and has shown to our enemies that you are Marik." He thought.

"Your time has run out Miss Wheeler. Winged Dragon of Ra, attack her life-points directly." Odion commanded the fake Egyptian God Card which grumbled lowly.

Suddenly a sharp burning pain shot through Daisuke's hand, her birthmark hissing and glowing brightly as Marik, Yugi and Ishizu who was in her room still felt a jolt through their Millennium Items.

"I sense a great disturbance, Odion has angered the Gods." Ishizu thought, clutching her Millennium Necklace, her eyes wide with alarm while back at the duel, the fake Winged Dragon of Ra refused to attack.

"Why isn't it attacking?" Joey asked confused.

"And what's wrong with Dai's hand?" Willis asked, looking to his friend who was on one knee, her birthmark still glowing brightly and burning, sending pain throughout her arm.

"This feeling…oh man it hurts." She thought looking at Odion who turned to the fake Egyptian God.

"Obey me, attack my opponent right now!" he shouted while Marik looked at his duel disk which was glowing and shuddering violently.

"What's going on, my duel deck is emitting a great aura of rage." He thought, confused as to why his deck was reacting this way. "It is as if the Winged Dragon of Ra is angered that Odion used a counterfeit. But my Rare Hunters tested these cards extensively, I had thought Odion would be strong enough to control it."

"What's going on, why didn't that thing attack me yet?" Daisuke thought, getting to her feet while holding her burning hand she noticed lightning bolts in the sky around them. "And what's with this storm, this isn't a Duel Monsters hologram." She thought, the lightning bolts increased in ferocity as they struck around the duel arena.

"The lightning storm is going to strike everyone involved in this duel." Marik thought, his eyes widening in horror.

"Master Marik, forgive me. I've failed you once again, I was not strong enough to be a part of your family." Odion's voice echoed in his mind, making him look at his long time servant as the lightning struck around Odion before one lightning bolt struck him and he let out a cry of pain.

"Odion!" Marik thought, stepping closer to the duel arena.

"Forgive me master…I'm sorry…" Odion whispered before the fake Millennium Rod in his staff shattered into pieces as he hit the arena floor.

"That Millennium Rod was a fake, so it's true. He's not the real Marik." Yugi thought before hearing Daisuke yelp as lightning bolts struck around her.

"Don't move!" Willis shouted in worry.

"Dai be careful!" Kari shouted before covering her mouth in horror as a lightning bolt struck Daisuke and she cried out in pain and she fell to the side, landing close to Kaiba and Mokuba's side.

"Dai!" Joey and Tristan shouted, the younger boy rushing ahead before climbing onto the arena with Tristan.

"Dai you okay?" Tristan called over to her before Roland walked over.

"Get down both of you, there is a duel going on." He told them.

"Open your eyes you idiot, both of them are knocked out and need help or did you just happen to miss the freak lightning storm!?" Joey asked him with a glare. "My uncle is Maximillion Pegasus, and he'll sue the pants of you and Kaiba if you keep us from helping them." He threatened and Roland visibly gulped at hearing who the boy's uncle was.

"Um…sir?" he asked, turning to Kaiba who frowned.

"Give them five minutes, whoever makes it to their feet first is the winner and moves on in the finals," He said coldly.

"That's ridiculous!" Kari shouted in anger.

"Kaiba you jerk, I'm going to kick your ass into next week!" Joey shouted as he climbed down from the duel arena but Tristan held him by his shirt as he tried to run over to Kaiba. "Lemme at him, lemme at him!"

"Daisuke wake up!" Serenity shouted to her sister. "Please you have to wake up!"

Daisuke groaned softly hearing her sister's voice call out to her, she slowly opened her eyes and blinked finding herself sitting at her desk in the school classroom, with Serenity standing in front of her.

"Serenity…what're you doing here?" she asked, confused while looking around. "And how did I get here?"

"You were going to show me how awesome you were at dueling." Serenity told her with a smile.

"I was?" she blinked and smiled. "Oh yeah." She got to her feet but tripped over her school bag and fell over, landing on her face as her duel deck fell out of her pocket and the cards scattered over the floor.

"You okay Big Sis?" she looked up to see Joey standing there with a smile before he began picking up the cards with Veemon who also was there.

"Um yeah…no worries just tripped is all." She said sitting on her knees also beginning to collect her cards.

"You gotta get up, Dai." Veemon told her. "We're all here for ya."

"And we always will be." Daisuke turned her head and saw Kari and Willis along with their Digimon standing off to the side along with Mai, Tea, Tristan, Duke and Yugi with Yami standing behind the shorter boy.

"So, get up Wheeler, don't make us wait." She then saw Kaiba standing in front of her, the male offering her his hand which she grabbed and in a flash of light, she opened her eyes and found herself standing up on the duel arena, her friends smiling and cheering.

"And the winner of the match, Duelist Number 2: Daisuke Wheeler!" Roland shouted, but she paid him no mind, instead running over to the still prone Odion as the duel arena lowered to the ground.

"Looks like her dumb luck saved her again, but why did Marik's Egyptian God Card not attack her as Marik commanded, I know it wasn't a glitch in the duel disk software. I spared no expense to make sure it was problem free; it should have worked." Kaiba thought, his eyes suddenly widening when a thought came to him. "Unless the card was a fake."

Daisuke kneeled beside Odion and pulled him up onto her lap. "Hey, you alright?" She asked him gently as he slowly came too.

"Please forgive me…Daisuke…I am sorry…it was an honor for me to duel with you." He said softly to her, grimacing in pain as Yugi rushed onto the arena to help.

"It was an honor to duel you as well. But now the duel is over, you have to come clean. Who are you?" Daisuke asked softly.

"I am only a servant…of the real…Master Marik." Odion answered, weakly gesturing to the real Marik who was leaning against the railing holding his head and grunting in pain.

"That's Marik!?" Daisuke and Yugi asked, looking over at the real one as Tea noticed the Millennium Rod in Marik's hand.

"That rod, it looks just like the other one." She told Daisuke and Yugi.

"Everyone you need to get away from that guy now!" Daisuke shouted in warning before glaring at Marik. "Admit your true identity Marik!"

Marik stopped holding his head and smirked. "Yes…I am indeed the real Marik."

"You snake in the grass." Daisuke growled, glaring at the real Marik.

"He's the one who brainwashed you." Yugi told her and she nodded as Marik stepped closer to the duel arena.

"So, we meet at last Little Yugi, soon your puzzle and your power will soon be mine." He said, his voice distorting as the Millennium Symbol appeared on his forehead.

"Oh no…I was afraid of this…we're all in grave danger." Odion whispered, making Daisuke look at him. "Beware…Master Marik has a darker side, one I am no longer able to contain it anymore." He said before losing consciousness.

"What's too late?" Daisuke asked before hearing Marik scream holding his head before a dark gold aura surged around his body.

"What's happening to him?" Serenity whispered standing behind Tristan and Joey.

"This is like the dark spirit when it takes over Bakura's body." Tea whispered as the golden aura around Marik faded and his one tamed hair was now a wild spiky mess, his eyes darker filled with malice and evil, the golden eye flowing on his forehead.

"I'm finally free, which means I can do things my way." He spoke coldly, his voice reverberating.

Yugi stood up, the Millennium Puzzle glowing brightly as Yami took over. "Who are you?" he asked and Marik smirked.

"I'm the true Marik and I am less kind than the one you've come to know and soon I'll finish the job he could not and strip you of your powers, for I deserve to be Pharaoh, not you. So, get ready for the real battle and when it is over your Puzzle will be around my neck where it belongs. And you will be trapped forever in the Shadow Realm, along with your friends and Odion as well."

"Get a life ya creep." Joey said and Marik looked at him with a smirk.

"Foolish boy, because of Odion's failure I now have a life, of course by failing Odion did prove something. Only a chosen few can control an Egyptian God Card, Kaiba, you're one of them."

"Don't be ridiculous. I've heard enough of these Egyptian fairy tales; I control Obelisk the Tormentor because I am a master duelist." Kaiba replied with a scoff.

"Don't deny your ancient past, you play a part in this that goes deeper than you realize. And you're not the only one." He spoke cryptically. "Don't get too attached to Obelisk the Tormentor, he will serve me soon enough along with Slifer the Sky Dragon, and with the Winged Dragon of Ra all three shall protect me while I rule this world as the new Pharaoh!" he burst out in maniacal laughter as Daisuke shared a concerned look with Yami and Kaiba.
