The Fate of the First Hero of Light

The woman standing outside the door, is glaring at Zelda.

"Could you not read the sign?"

Zelda looks at the placard in big bold red script...

"MAKE HYRULE GREAT AGAIN

VOTE FOR KING GEIR."

"Please listen to what I have to offer!"

The woman walks inside and wants to close the door. Zelda puts her foot between the closing door and the door's frame. The woman sighs.

"Let me hear what you have to say?"

"What I will do is..."

"UNBELIEVABLE CAN YOU REALLY DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT!"

"Yes, I promise on my life I can do it."

"EVERYONE MUST KNOW OF THIS!"

"Will you vote for me?"

"ABSOLUTELY!"

"Here take these badges and posters. Tell everyone if they vote for me. I can make the impossible happen!"

"WHERE CAN WE SEE THIS?"

"At the voting station where all the votes will be cast. You will all see it there, if I am chosen to be the Queen!"

"YOU HAVE MY VOTE!"

Zelda finishes appealing to all the villagers of Kokoto village.

Messengers run past Zelda as she and her party moves onto the next village

The village's representative runs towards the approaching Queen.

"Your Majesty we heard from the other villages! Can you really do something so magnificent?"

"I promise on my life, you will see it! If I am chosen to lead again."

"Please wait Your Majesty everyone come!"

The whole village is assembled.

There are two major factions in the villages.

The King Geir and the Queen Zelda parties.

The King Geir party members say

"The King does not need to smile to do his job!"

"Yes!"

"He probably has not even smiled in his whole life!"

"Even if the Queen can perform a miracle his smiling muscles will be so weak. He will not be able to even form a grimace!"

The Queen Zelda party says...

"Think of his smile!"

"Yes, I can see it now in my mind!"

"Like a holy light descending from above!"

"His smile will break the curse cast upon him by his enemies those many years ago!"

"I want to see it before I die!"

"I had heard rumours, he had only smiled once!" says an unknown voice.

"ONCE?" screams the crowd.

Everyone is suddenly very attentive.

"Yes, it was when the famine struck us. His stone mountain of a face softened and he smiled. The evil forces behind the famine were struck by this sight. They were so moved by it that they repented and the famine disappeared and there was plenty in the land again." says the same mysterious voice.

"DID THIS REALLY HAPPEN!"

"Yes, it did." says Zelda holding back tears of guilt.

"YOUR MAJESTY! IS IT REALLY TRUE!"

"Yes, I was there. The light was so blinding the beauty of his smiling face moved my soul. The evil horseman who was raining down punishment upon our land was struck so by this beautiful sight. He repented to the Holy Mother and lives as a monk in a distant land." says Zelda.

"THE EVIL HORSEMAN!" "THE KING'S SMILE COULD EVEN DEFEAT THE FALLEN ONES!"

"If we vote for you we will be able to see this?"

"If I win you will see this!"

"Can we trust this?"

"I promise you on my life!"

The villagers talk to each and they call the Elders.

The Elders move to talk to Zelda.

"Your Majesty Yukomo village will support you in the upcoming election. Please we have many sick and frail villagers, finish with this election process as soon as possible. We will bring the sick and weak to bask in the King's smile so that they can be healed and restored."

"WHAT DID YOU SAY!" screams Zelda.

"Your Majesty did you not say the King can heal the sick with his smile?"

"NO! You must have misheard! Let me heal the sick, just vote for me and you will see your lives will be changed." says Zelda while not looking anyone directly in their eyes.

"We cannot wait!"

The people are healed. Everyone in the village is excited.

Zelda's party departs.

"YOUR MAJESTY THIS IS NOT RIGHT..." says the Knight.

"Sir Hunfrey there are no other options. This is the only way."

"..."

"Your Highness I also believe this method is best." says the unknown voice.

"Thank you Sir Gerrick. Do you have any insights you could share with us?"

"Your Highness the only way we can keep you as the Queen would be to fool or trick the populous. Your plan is genius!"

"Her Highnesses's plan?" asks the Fire Mage.

"Yes, we lie as much as we can then when Her Majesty is elected. We abolish the means of the populous to make any objections or overturn the decision."

Zelda almost falls over at hearing this.

"YOUR MAJESTY!"

Zelda recovers.

"Sir Gerrick I am not lying, I will get Geir to smile."

"Your Highness that is not possible."

"Why would you say that Sir Gerrick?"

"Your Highness, you and your party are the ones that cause his misery."

The Knight grabs Sir Gerrick and lifts him up.

"WHAT DID YOU SAY KNAVE!"

"SIR HUNFREY PLEASE BE CALM!" screams an irate Zelda.

"YOUR MAJESTY..."

Sir Gerrick is dropped and recovers.

"Your Highness forgive my boldness. Why am I accompanying you?"

"Is there a problem Sir Gerrick?"

"No, as a Knight it is my duty. But on your adventures you rarely take others. It is either Sir Izdryn, Sir Hunfrey, Lady Esdeath, Great Father Thandall or Her Majesty Vivilara."

"HER MAJESTY?!"

"Yes, she is the Queen of the Tulok and one of the Dark Elf's Royal Twins."

"LADY VIVILARA!"

"I had always wondered why you refused to use the correct honorifics referring to Her Majesty Queen Vivilara?"

"Why would you say that Sir Gerrick?" asks Zelda

"Everyone in the country respects you Your Majesty but you do not respect everyone else."

"GERRICK!"

"BE STILL SIR HUNFREY!"

"..."

"What do you mean Sir Gerrick?"

"The reason everyone still wants Geir to be the King is because they know he is always there for them."

"Has Geir not always been there for them? How will being the King change things?" asks the Fire Mage.

"Being the King is what they want for him."

"WHAT THEY WANT FOR HIM!"

"Yes, even though everyone knows he cannot be the King forever. They want to see him at the top, where they feel he belongs."

"I do not understand Sir Gerrick?" speaks Zelda.

"They see everything he does for everyone, somehow they want to help him. If he is the King everyone can work for him or help him. He needs not do everything alone then."

"I see that would be the reason..." says a dejected Zelda.

"But Your Highness."

"Yes, Sir Gerrick?"

"The people have confidence in you. That Geir would praise you as much as he does. Everyone believes in you."

"REALLY! WHAT DOES HE SAY?"

"Your Highness he will tell us: "Today she did not break anything new or I can trust her to take her first steps or she is growing so fast she could almost do this or that."

"NOOOOOO! Does he really say that?"

"Yes, Your Highness he tells that to everyone in the castle, barracks even in the Dwarven Realm to the Great Fathers! He is very proud Your Highness."

"THE DWARVEN REALM!"

Zelda passes out.

"zelda, zelda, zelda, Zelda, Zelda, ZELDA!"

"WHAT IS IT?!"

"Wake up we have to go." says Esdeath.

"TEELA! What are you doing here?"

"Sir Izdryn and myself have reconciled. We are lovers again!"

"...ugh..."

Zelda is thinking to herself about them constantly kissing each other.

This is the absolute worst time in my life!

Not only is Geir so sick in bed, he cannot help me on my tour. The other nations surrounding us are preparing for war! If I want to be the ruler again this is my only chance to ever be elected again. I am sorry my friends I will use each and every means possible to be the ruler again. Geir I will not let your feelings go to waste. Still why tell everyone and the Dwarven Realm that you are proud of me for doing the simplest of tasks!

Two tears rolls down Zelda's cheeks.

"I heard of your promise will you be able to keep it?" asks Esdeath.

"I have a secret weapon!"

"All the money in the Kingdom already comes from his schemes. Giving him something that is his will not make him smile."

"NOOOOOO! I had hoped I could pay him! But I have something even more valuable to give!"

"Zelda?"

Zelda produces a magical metal box. She does an incantation and the lock is opened. She takes out a paper card.

"What is this?" asks the shocked party.

"Well you see this is..."

The Capitol.

The election has finished and the votes are being counted.

The results are in...

"We will now read the results: 99% of all the votes go to Geir Warchief of the Tulok. The other 1% are invalid or ineligible votes. King Geir will be reinstated. The coronation will start in 5 instances."

"NOOOOOOOO! BUT I LIED SO HARD!" Zelda is devastated.

"I am sorry everyone it seems Geir is ill. We will have to wait for him to recover, we will..."

"WAIT JUST AN INSTANCE!"

"Your Previous Majesty?"

"THE LAW IS CLEAR ON THE MATTER! If he does not come in the allotted time, he will have forfeited the election!"

"Surely we can make an exception for the King?"

"NO, EXCEPTIONS! THE LAW IS THE LAW!"

The crowds are restless.

"What should we do?" "If we stage a coup, who would we be overthrowing?" "Well King Geir is not the King yet?" "But what if he comes now. Then while we are fighting. He becomes King then if we overthrow him the Queen will rule again!" "Yes, this seems to be very troublesome."

"Remember what the Elders always say. When there is a threat always ask "What would King Geir do?"

"We understand!" everyone is in agreement. Everyone produces curved daggers.

"ATTACK! KILL EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT SUPPORT THE KING!"

"The five instances have now passed." says the election official.

"TIME IS UP! I WIN! I AM THE QUEEN!" speaks Zelda.

"WHY SHOULD WE ACCEPT YOU?" scream the drawn daggered crowds.

Zelda feel total despair in her heart.

She opens her mouth to speak "Well you see Geir tells everyone: "Today she did not break anything new or I can trust her to take her first steps or she is growing so fast she could almost do this or that.""

The crowds settle down and their daggers are withdrawn.

"Yes, that is true!" "He told me that many times." "Me too!" "If King Geir told you that as well." "Then it must be the truth!"

Zelda is crying on the inside.

"AS YOU COULD HEAR HE BELIEVES IN ME! THAT IS MY RIGHT TO RULE!"

"We understand Your Majesty."

Zelda is coronated once more...

The white parkas of the crowds are given to Tulok tribes people.

They are no longer needed, Geir Warchief of the Tulok is King no more.

A limping figure moves to the podium.

"Zelda I am sorry. I missed your coronation."

"GEIR!"

Zelda rushes towards him. She wants to embrace him, he stops her while holding his stomach.

"Geir have you not recovered from the gastronatios spell cast upon you?"

"No, Zelda I have not."

"You promised us you could make him..." asks the crowd.

"BE QUIET!"

"..."

"Geir I brought you something please accept it."

Zelda opens the container. She hands him the card.

Geir's eyes are open wide.

"ZELDA HOW DID YOU GET THIS?"

"Do not worry about it. Thank you for always helping me and everyone."

"Zelda this is the first pokenom card ever made..."

Geir's mountain of a face starts cracking at his lips and he forms a grimace. It is slowly extending even further upwards.

The crowds are staring harder than they have ever stared before.

"It cannot be!" "Will it really happen?" "Sons help me up! I want to see this before I die!" "Grandfather hold on for just short moments longer."

Suddenly there is a blinding light in the sky.

It was a magical flare.

The light disappears.

"My soul has been moved!" says Queen Zelda.

All the other people on the podium are reeling in shock at what they had seen, some had fallen over.

The crowds are disappointed they were blinded by the flare.

"DAMMIT!" "WHAT HAPPENED!" "WE COULD NOT SEE IT!"

"Sons you are mistaken the blinding light was his smile. I die now without a care in the world." The old man closes his eyes and with a wide smile, dies.

"NO! GRANDFATHER!"

"The old man was right it was his smile that blinded us!"

"I will never forget this day!"

"Yes, Geir's blinding smile touching our souls!"

"Yes, thank you Holy Mother for your blessing."

In the distance...

"VAL AAN!" screams in a different language.

The warning bells are sounded.

An attack on the Capitol.

Finish.
