A.N. — A reviewer wanted something on how Slytherins feel, so I chose an obscure boy not from Harry's year group. A Malcolm Preece from a Harry Potter video game makes the character list; this Malcolm, actually in book 4, does not. Pretend I've tagged the proper Malcolm, please.
83. Malcolm Baddock
Malcolm removed the Sorting Hat, relieved to belong to a House at all. Having redheaded twins at Gryffindor's table hiss him as his robes magically acquired green trim and a Slytherin badge, though, was not an auspicious start to his Hogwarts career.
Cowed, Malcolm took a seat among his new school family. A blonde clapped him on the back and introduced himself as Draco Malfoy, and some of his misgivings started fading. Through the feast, Draco quietly filled Malcolm in on the intricacies of Hogwarts' inherent biases and rivalries. Malcolm's resolve hardened; he'd overcome and persevere, with his fellow Snakes.
