There was a knock on the door and Mari opened the door to see Roland standing there. "Are you ready?" He asked as he walked in the house.
"Yes Roland we're ready." Mari replied.
"Is this all that you'll take?" Roland asked seeing the pile of their things and Mari nodded. "Well it seems like a lot soon you'll have everything that you could ever imagine. Now let's go."
It took all three to take everything out from the house and it barely fitted in Roland's car. As Roland drove of Mari looked back at the apartment complex and thinks about all the times she left a place she once thought as a home the orphanage when she left Adrien's house the first time when she left the house of the Dupain-Cheng when she left Paris when she left the ranch...and now she hoped that this would be the last time.
After a few minutes Roland parked near an apartment complex that was nothing like the neighborhood the apartments were bigger triple as big as Fu's house it was a struggle to carry everything. Luckily there was an elevator unlike their apartment complex though with everything that they had they barely fitted in the elevator.
"It was a crazy thing that I committed a few years ago and it has tormented my conciousness every day since then." Adrien told Mike once they were at the study. "Though I already paid for it I was punished enough. I don't want Audrey to use that against me again. We have to stop her no matter the costs."
"You know that stopping her is nearly impossible." Mike stated. "That woman had accused you so hard that-"
"Who is the trail for me or Kagami?" Adrien asked getting irritated.
"That's the thing the accusation side is trying to accuse you as directing the crime. You will need to defend yourself as much or even more than the prisoner." Mike stated.
"I see you are also my lawyer and you need to help me clear my name so I can show Kagami's case that's the only way to save her." Adrien replied.
"I know that's why I want to prove Mrs. Bourgeois declarations wrong." Mike stated. "Like I said the judge even asked for this Mari person to be called to declare."
"Only one problem Mari's location is unknown only a priest knows her location and I doubt that he'll say where she is." Adrien replied.
"They'll find her Dr. Agreste and will make her declare in the trail." Mike stated.
Mari Fu and Roland finally entered the apartment. "Well at least we aren't far from the neighborhood." Mari stated looking around.
"Did you see the view?" Fu added coming inside from the balcony. "I can't believe that we will be staying here."
"Make yourself at home. Feel free to change and move the furniture to your liking." Roland points to the hallway. "The first door to the left is Mari's room the door after it is yours Fu." Fu nodded and went to his room with his suitcase. "Well this is your new house."
"You told me in the car that this is your apartment where are you going to live now?" Mari asked.
"I'm going to stay at my sister's apartment. She's living in London right now so I'll take a few clothes and come back for the rest later." Roland replied.
Mike called Audrey's lawyer to come so they could talk about the situation and soon there was a knock on the door. "Come in." Adrien called out.
Natalie walked in. "Mrs. Audrey's lawyer is here. He says that you are waiting for him."
Adrien nodded. "Please let him in Natalie. Oh and tell Audrey to come too."
Natalie nodded before leaving the study. "If it's uncomfortable for you, you don't have to stay." Mike told Adrien.
"No I want to stay present for this." Adriren replied.
Mike nodded. "If that's what you want."
Soon Audrey's lawyer walked in and the lawyers started talking. "I thought that it would be best if we had a talk with Mrs. Bourgeois and this was the best place to do it." Mike stated.
"Talk about what excidly?" Audrey's lawyer asked.
"About the last request the judge made-" Mike started.
At that moment Audrey walked in the study. "What's the meaning of this?" She looks at her lawyer. "What are you doing here? I didn't call you."
"I did your lawyer you and I will have a conversation." Mike answered.
"About what?" Audrey asked.
"About the person you named today during the trail. The woman known as Mari." Mike stated and Audrey laughed.
Father Carlos took Luka to the neighborhood and to the the apartment complex that Mari lived in. Luka locked around shocked Mari did tell him that she lived in poor conditions but he never thought this poor. They went to an apartment that was only one story and very small. "Iris lives here?" Father Carlos nodded before knocking.
They knocked for a while but there was no answer. Alya walked over to them. "They aren't home Father Carlos."
"As Dr. Agreste's lawyer I advise you to ask the judge for Mari to not be called to declare." Mike added.
"Why don't you want Mari to declare?" Audrey asked.
"First because she can't add anything to the case and second of all that would delay the trail." Mike replied. "Since she has been missing a few months."
Audrey laughed. "Mari isn't disappeared anymore I think that it will be easy to find her because she's back in Paris." Adrien looks at her surprised.
"Do you know where they went Alya?" Father Carlos asked her.
"I don't know where they went all I know is that they left the apartment again." Alya replied.
"How do you know that Mari is back in Paris?" Adrien asked Audrey.
"I have nothing to tell you." Audrey looks at her lawyer. "I insist that she is called to declare. She will say interesting things."
"I see that you are only interested in running Dr. Agreste's reputation." Mike stated.
"If I do he won't be able to defend the criminal and they will both drown." Audrey replied. "With Mari's declaration we will win the case."
"Mrs. Bourgeois think about what you're doing. Are you sure that she'll declare against Dr. Agreste?" Her lawyer asked. "Are you sure that she also wants to drown him?"
Audrey thinks about it. "...I think that I made a mistake. I forgotten that Mari was once called to declare against Dr. Agreste but she denied to do it. When everyone thought my daughter was dead from a plane crash I tried to get full custody of my granddaughter Maya I thought that Mari was full of rage with reasons to hate this man and that was a great opportunity to get revenge but when she declared during the trail she denied everything. She said that it was a lie that he humiliated her as a woman. She defended him and because of her I couldn't take Maya's custody from him!"
Adrien stood up. "I was told the opposite. I was told that Mari accused me. That she did everything in her power to drown me."
Father Carlos and Luka walked back in the church. "I'm sorry Luka I really wanted to help you."
Luka sighs. "I'm grateful for your good intentions Uncle Carlos...if only I arrived to the ranch earlier or better yet not gone to that trip...if I only gone to the neighborhood sooner. My hopes in finding her was with you Uncle Carlos now I have to reason to be here."
"Will you go back to the ranch?" Father Carlos asked.
"No I'll keep looking for her." Luka replied.
"I wish you luck where are you staying? I would like to keep contact with you." Father Carlos stated.
"At a hotel but I don't know for how long though don't worry I'll keep contact with you." Luka replied before leaving the church.
"Why was i lied to? Why did Mari not deny it when I complained to her?" Adrien asked.
"I don't know." Audrey looked at her lawyer. "I did a mistake asking for that woman to be called to declare. I wanted to find a way to attack them but she would help him please find a way to solve this problem she can't be called to declare." Audrey quickly leaves the room and her lawyer goes after her.
"It seems like we solved that problem." Mike stated.
Adrien takes a deep breath. "For a long time I thought that Mari declared against me so my daughter would be taken away from me but now I find out that it was the opposite. You can't imagine how happy I am knowing that Mari was incapable of hurting me...and Audrey knows where she is."
The next morning Adrien met up with Edward at a Cafe. "Nice to see that you haven't forgotten your friends." Adrien said playfully.
"After coming back from Paris I had to do some things." Edward replied. "And I have something important to tell you Adrien. Something that could help you in the trail if you want to use it and it will clear your concious...something that has been proven...your wife was never pregnant." Adrien looks at him shocked. "Let's say that there was a switch up during the pregnancy tests by 'mistake '" Edward used air quotes when he said the word mistake. "The pregnant woman was someone else and the employee who did it was fired. It was only one crime your child never existed."
Adrien sighs in relief. "That's the second no third best news that I heard recently. The first one Is that Mari didn't declare against me when Audrey tried to take the custody of Maya from me and that Mari is back in Paris."
"The trail of Miss. Kagami Tsurugi opens again. The defensive side needs to continue the integration of Mrs. Audrey Bourgeois." The judge said as everyone sat down.
Mike stood up. "Before I interrogate the witness I want to ask for authority to request something to you judge." The judge nodded. "The defensive side ask for Miss. Kagami to be declared as irresponsible of her actions so she shouldn't be judged."
"After finding this out I felt a peace inside of me." Adrien added. "It hurted me thinking that Mari went against me but she kept being that sweet woman that I once...well I still love."
"You still think that way even though she abandoned you and didn't want to forgive you Adrien?" Edward asked.
"I don't care about that I can't expect her to forgive me for something so terrible that I did. The memories that she made during that time might have been terrible even to the point of stopping her from falling in love with a man." Adrien replied.
"But you cued her Adrien." Edward stated.
"For fortunate and the proof is that now she's getting married with another man." Adrien replied. "Who knows maybe she already got married."
Mari grabed the house phone and dialled a number. "Father Carlos? Hay it's Marinette."
"Where are you?" Was the first thing Father Carlos asked.
Mari giggled. "That's why I'm calling you. I wanted to see you yesterday but I didn't have time."
"Well I had to see you yesterday and I went to the neighborhood with-" Father Carlos started.
"Oh don't look for me there anymore we don't live there anymore here I'll give you the new address." Mari replied before giving him the address. "Hopefully you can visit us soon."
"I'll go there today we need to talk." Father Carlos stated before the call ends.
"Why are you making that request?" The judge asked.
"Because Miss. Kagami Tsurugi suffers from a mental illness known in the psychiatrist term as spill personality." Mike replied. "She is a victim when she is at that state as if it was another person. That's the circumstances that she committed the crime."
"That's a lie!" Audrey yelled standing up. "You can't accept what this man is saying judge! You can't!"
"What does the article say about the trail now?" Fu asked Mari who was reading the article.
"The witnesses are being interrogated right now and the worst part is that Audrey is declaring first." Mari replied.
"If it was up to Audrey Adrien would be put in prison for life." Fu stated. "Do you think he will be put in jail Mari?"
"I don't know Fu it says here that nothing against him can be proven unlike the woman. There's no doubt that she killed Chloe but there's a rumor that she has a mental illness." Mari replied
"I remember that a Japanese woman was involved too and it seems that it is the same person." Fu stated. "Juleka and I would read the news everyday but we couldn't understand anything."
Suddenly the doorbell was heard and Fu went to open on the door. Mari half hoped that it was Adrien but it wasn't it was Father Carlos. "You should've talked to me first." Was the first thing he said when he walked in.
"I'm sorry Father Carlos but why are you complaining didn't I call you to come visit me?" Mari asked playfully.
"Yes you called me but you shouldn't have left the ranch or the neighborhood without letting me know." Father Carlos stated.
"I didn't have time Father Carlos." Mari replied.
"And what's this place anyway?" Father Carlos asked.
"This is Roland's apartment." Mari replied.
"As the lawyer of the defense Mr. Sparks has a right to make any request." The judge told Audrey. "Of course for his request to be accepted he needs to prove what he said."
"I have a report of Miss. Kagami's illness from experiences involving the split personality and I would be glad to turn it in to you judge." Mike stated.
The lawyer of the public stood up. "Can I ask what doctor signed that report?"
"The best psychiatrist of the country Dr. Adrien Agreste." Mike replied.
"Roland the T.V director?" Father Carlos asked surprised and Mari nodded. "And you'll be living here?"
"For the moment but don't worry he went to live somewhere else." Mari replied and Father Carlos fell much better.
"I'll go get us something to drink." Fu said before going to the kitchen.
"Did you realize what you did by leaving the ranch?" Father Carlos asked Mari.
"Yes but I realized it to late." Mari replied.
"I thought that everything was going well. You starting a life with a man that sincerely loves you." Father Carlos stated. "And who was offering you everything that you didn't have."
"Father Carlos did you know what was going on between Adrien and that woman?" Mari asked softly.
"Yes and I even talked to him about it and he said that even though he still loves you he is morality obligated to that woman Kagami Tsurugi." Father Carlos replied. "That's why I thought that the best that you could do was marry Luka. He was going to give you a place love and be a father to Adrienne."
"I thought that Adrien needed me. He was supposedly free and I thought that he still wanted me." Mari stated. "I do feel bad for Luka I hope that he can understand me and hopefully he forgets about me."
"Marinette Luka is here in Paris he came looking for you." Father Carlos replied.
"How do you expect that report to be put under consideration?" The lawyer of the public asked Mike. "How can a report signed by someone involved in the crime be used to help the defendant?"
"The report the defensive side wants to put in is declined until the involvement of Dr. Adrien Ageeste is proven wrong or another psychiatrist brings a report." The judge declared and Mike nodded. "Would the defensive side like to interrogate the witness Mrs. Audrey Bourgeois?"
"Yes sir." Mike stated.
The lawyer of the public stood up again. "May I ask about the woman Mari?"
"He came to the church to convince me that it was necessary for him to talk to you." Father Carlos added. "And I think that you should talk to him."
"I think that is the best where's Luka?" Mari asked.
"He's staying at a hotel but I don't know which one he said he would visit me again." Father Carlos replied.
"Does he know my real name? Did you tell him my full story?" Mari asked.
"I thought that it would be best if you told him." Father Carlos stated. "I took him to the neighborhood but you already left."
"The next time you see him give him this address so he can come see me." Mari replied and Father Carlos nodded.
Alya was poking her food and her mother noticed. "So dear Nino called today to see how you have been doing it seems like you have been to busy at work to see him."
"Mom I have been avoiding Nino on purpose." Alya stated in a whisper.
"Why do you not love him anymore?" Marlena asked concern.
"No I do love him but as much as I love him I made a very important decision in my life." Alya replied.
"Fortunately the street rat left before Adrien arrived." Lila told Roland about when she saw Mari at Adrien's house. "I gave her the blow and Ruby just confirmed it. When Mari understood that there was something between Adrien and the murderous tutor she left defeated. I hope that she listened to me and went back to the ranch. Now the danger is that Sabine goes back to the ranch to look for her."
"Don't worry if she does she won't find her since Mari didn't go back to the ranch she's at my apartment." Roland replied and Lila looked at him surprised.
"The declaration side decided to not ask for the declaration of that young woman. First because she can't be found in Paris and second because her declaration wouldn't leave any details of value for the case." Audrey's lawyer responded.
The judge nodded. "Alright secretary make sure that the witness isn't called." The secretary nodded. "The lawyer of the defensive side can start the interrogation."
As Mike was interrogating Audrey the lawyer of the public whispered to Audrey's lawyer. "Can you explain the change?"
"She would declare in favor of Agreste like she has done before." Audrey's lawyer replied.
With the last of her money Mari brought all the milk and cookies that she could buy for the orphans and with a struggle she went to the orphanage.
Adrien sat in his study thinking about Mari. "Mari you never wanted to hurt me...you declared in my favor while everyone told me the opposite. You didn't want my daughter to be taken away from me and that's why you defended me. If I only knew where you were...even though you don't love me anymore like you said. I shouldn't be sad about it but I can't help it since I still love you." Adrien buries his head and starts to cry.
