Loonatics: United

World of Chaos

Episode 89: Arrival

It was midday in the ostentatious and modern planet Alumia, tall and sharp buildings of slightly different tones of white under the blue, cloudy sky. The architecture of the city was curvy, dynamic, vibrant and innovative. The traffic was extremely light compared to Acmetropolis´ and only hovering vehicles drove over the streets. A lot of green areas surrounded the buildings, with authentic trees, bushes and even rivers, places where families and groups of friends hung out with bliss.

The jet of the Loonatics flew over the city. Tech was piloting as usual, the other five heroes stood behind him in the cockpit, looking through the window with amazement. "You were not kidding when you said this place was incredible!" Ace said.

"Yes it looks like a giant modern art museum from the 1950´s, but like a hundred times better!" Rev opined. "And outdoors."

"I bet the shopping malls are on a whole other level!" Lexi said with excitement.

Slam growled, guessing that the food there would be 'crunchy and greasy' as he liked it.

"Did I mention that it´s not safe for all of us to be in the cockpit at the same time?" Tech said, frowning slightly.

"Who cares?" Duck replied. "Is your girlfriend gonna receive us with a good meal or something?"

"I don´t know." Tech replied coldly. "Probably."

Lexi let out a sigh of exhaustion. "I just want to change and take a long nap." They were all using their usual bodysuits.

"What?" Duck looked at her while raising an eyebrow. "We arrive at our vacation and the first thing you want to do is t..?" He yawned and stretched his arms. "Oh, well...that actually sounds like a good idea."

"Well, we do this for our Doc, after all." Ace patted Tech´s shoulder. "For how long is Susan gonna stay here?"

"She arrived like a week ago, I guess she´ll spend three more or so." Tech responded. "She comes every year."

"Her parents must feel truly blessed." Lexi said, lowering down her gaze a bit. "It´s been a long time since I visited mine."

"Same." Ace replied.

Duck raised his shoulders. "Well, at least you got parents to visit."

"Aw, Duck." Lexi stroked his head amiably. "You know we´re your family."

"Not a great one..." Duck looked at her and winked. "But good enough, I guess." Lexi rolled up her eyes while shaking her head, chuckling a bit.

Tech turned the jet to the left while lowering down the altitude. "There." He pointed at a large neighborhood, with the same white and sharp aesthetic of the city, with public gardens and places to shop. "See that tower? There´s their apartment." He accelerated towards the medium sized, white building.

"Oh, neat." Lexi studied the looks of the apartment tower.

Tech looked at the big empty lot behind the tower. "There´s the spot." He flew towards there, passing by the building and slowly landing the jet over the concrete covered lot. He turned off the engines and looked around for a moment then stood up from his chair. "Alright." He stretched briefly and sighed. "We have arrived!"

Susan Sanders, the deer that was Tech´s girlfriend, a brilliant scientist just as him, was walking in circles in the living room of her parents´ apartment, minimalist, with black and gray furniture and old ornaments here and there, as well as family pictures stuck on the walls. She was wearing a pair of black jeans and a light green blouse, as well as small glasses. Susan was counting with her fingers while whispering stuff. "Rooms, check." She took a deep breath. "Food, check." Susan exhaled slowly. "Everything...is under control." She nodded at herself.

"Baby." Her dad approached her and placed his hands over her shoulders. A middle aged deer, with large antlers and a deep voice. He wore a black and white plaid shirt and a pair of white pants. "We took care of everything, I´m sure your friends and your boyfriend will be impressed."

Susan sighed. "I just want everything to be perfect for him, dad."

"And it is already." Her mother arrived, she wore a dark gray trench coat. She took her hand while smiling at her. "Let´s just sit down and wait for them, shall we?"

Susan smiled back at her. "Okay, mom."

They sat down over a couch in order to wait for their guests, not for long as a knock on the door was promptly heard. "It must be them!" Susan´s mom said and got up from the couch, followed by her husband and her daughter. She opened the door and saw the six heroes standing before them. "Hi! Welcome!"

Tech chuckled and hugged her, kissing her cheek. "It´s a pleasure, Ms. Sanders!"

"Oh, the pleasure is all mine, handsome." She broke the hug and smirked at him. "Just call me, Sylvia."

"Declan." Susan´s father introduced himself while shaking Tech´s hand. "Nice to meet you."

"Same, Mr. Sanders." Tech smiled at him then looked at his girlfriend. "Come here, honey." He kissed her and hugged her tightly.

"Nice place you got here!" Ace praised while looking at the apartment´s inside, putting his bag over the floor just as the rest did.

"Come in, please! It´s all yours!" Sylvia stepped aside and let them walk in.

"Hey, meal is ready!" Duck pointed at the dining table next to the living room.

Lexi hit his arm quite hard. "Manners!" She mumbled warningly.

"Ouch!" Duck rubbed his arm. "I just said!"

Sylvia approached the dining table and started to pull out some chairs. "Sorry if it looks too tight."

"It´s perfect, Ms. Sanders." Ace replied while taking a seat. "You shouldn´t have gone through so much trouble for us."

"Oh, nonsense!" Sylvia said while grabbing a big bowl with soup. "Whatever we can do for the friends of our baby´s man!"

Susan blushed while sitting down, rubbing her arm while chuckling nervously. Tech sat down next to her and placed a hand on her shoulder. Susan looked at him. "So, how was your trip?"

"Oh, it was pretty nice." Tech replied. "We did like four hours but time flies when you´re...well...flying." He made her and her parents chuckle.

"That´s good to hear." Sylvia poured some soup on Tech´s bowl, then did the same with the others´. "Please, go ahead!"

"Thank you so much this soup looks delicious let me taste it..." Rev said before giving a taste to the soup. "Yup it tastes as it looks!"

Sylvia took a jug from the middle of the table and started to pour some pear juice on everyone´s glasses. "I´m glad you like it, uhm...Rev, right?"

"That´s right!" Rev took a sip from his juice, his eyes widened after tasting it, sweet and refreshing. "This is the best pear juice I´ve ever had!"

"Mom makes the best pear juice in the galaxy." Susan took a sip from hers.

Sylvia let out a brief chuckle. "It´s always been her favorite." She served the last glass of juice and finally sat down next to her husband. "I´m pretty sure you´ll have a lot of fun here." Sylvia tasted a bit of her soup. "There´s plenty to do."

"The city is beautiful!" Lexi replied. "It looks so bright and...advanced."

"They don´t call it the 'Capital of Science and Technology' for nothing." Tech commented. Slam erupted all of a sudden. Tech looked at him with his eyes widened and a subtle frown. "Slam!"

"It seems that your friend has a pretty big appetite." Sylvia chuckled.

"As you have no idea." Ace responded. "One gets used." He winked at Slam.

"Let me get the cod out of the oven." Sylvia rapidly stood up and headed to the kitchen.

"Uhm...is this like the best meal we´ve had in years?" Duck sipped more of his soup. "Answer, absolutely."

Declan let out a brief chuckle. "And you´ll know what is good when you taste the cod."

Susan cleaned her snout a bit with a napkin. "Well, I should tell you already, two of you will have to stay in the living room."

Duck looked at the mentioned area and nodded with a face of approval. "Looks good to me."

"I could sleep there, that couch looks particularly comfortable to be honest." Rev said.

Susan chuckled. "Alright, it´s settled!" She looked at Lexi. "You can stay with me if you want, Lexi. The visits room should be enough for the boys."

"Oh, for sure!" Lexi grinned at her. "We can talk all night about our boyfriends, fashion, music and all sorts of girly stuff!" She sighed while shaking her head. "Being surrounded by men, I never have a chance." Lexi gestured at her comrades.

Ace rolled up his eyes. "It looks like these are some vacations we´ll never forget." He stated.
