"One Meh Cheese Regal, hold the ordinary onions, so-so sauce on the side." Amy ordered.

"Here." Dave mumbled, putting a sandwich on the table. Much to Amy's annoyance, it was just two slices of bread with a live fish in it. She turned to Dave with a disgusted look. "This is a "Something's Fishy Sandwich"."

"So?"

"It's not what I ordered."

Silence.

Amy tried again. "And the head is still on it." She said, glancing at the fish. It flopped. Completely annoyed, she hissed at Dave. "And it's still ALIVE!"

"Fine!" Dave hissed, taking the order. He turned around but turned towards her, the same sandwich still on the plate. "Here."

Amy growled, turned and stomped away. Dave picked up a burger. "You want it to go?"

Penny giggled as she ran across the soccer field, kicking the ball until Sonic stole the ball from her and started playing against himself. Penny heaved a heavy sigh as she watched the hedgehog with crossed arms.

Sonic kicked the ball and it nearly slammed into Amy, who lifted up her hammer and luckily smashed it away from her before it done any injury.

Penny glanced at Amy curiously, and walked over. "Hey, Amy, what's that you're eating?"

"Just a homemade sandwich."

"Bad luck with Meh Burger again?"

"Yeah..."

"Hey, your Meh Burger looks weird."

At the sound of Sonic's voice, Penny and Amy glanced up to see the hedgehog glancing at Amy's sandwich curiously. Amy grumbled sarcastically. " It's not a stupid Meh Burger. I made this myself."

"So it's a me burger." Sonic said, and burst out laughing. "An AMY Burger!"

Penny and Amy glared at the blue hedgehog, and he cleared his throat. "See, I-I-I took the original name and did a clever twist on it, using your name."

Penny and Amy both glared at Sonic, and Amy muttered sarcastically. "Yeah, clever."

" I thought it was clever, Sonic." Tails pipped up.

"Don't patronize me." Sonic mumbled.

" Speaking of patronizing, let's go be customers at Meh Burger." Knuckles suggested.

Penny winced and turned to Amy, who was fuming. " Meh Burger is horrible! The people of this Unnamed village deserve better. I'm gonna open a restaurant with good service, a pleasant, inviting atmosphere—"

"And a moat? And laser turrets!?" Sticks asked enthusiastically.

"Um...not exactly." Penny told her.

"Amy, you don't know anything about running a restaurant." Sonic protested.

"If I let not knowing anything stop me from doing something, I'd never do everything." Knuckles added.

"I'm really gonna do it." Amy said, standing up and opening up her arms. "I'm opening a restaurant! Are you guys with me?!"

"Yes!" Penny grinned, playfully saluting the pink hedgehog. "You have my full respect, Amy Rose, Ma'am!"

Amy chuckled. "I told you to stop doing that, it's a little embarrassing."

"Sorry." Penny chuckled. "Couldn't help myself. Now let's see what the guys think." She and Amy glanced at Sonic and the others. After a moment, Tails pipped up. "Yeah..."

"Yes..." Sonic said flatly.

"What are we doing?" Knuckles asked.

Sticks glared at them. "Don't blame me when it's overrun with invaders!"

Penny just blinked at the badger.

The next day, Penny stood in beside Sonic, Sticks, Tails, and Knuckles. Amy hummed as she glanced at them. "Good. Excellent. Very nice." She frowned at Sticks's boomerang. "Sticks, that's not a spatula. Lose it."

Sticks tossed the boomerang away and Penny winced as a shattering sound was soon heard.

She glanced at Knuckles with a frown. "Knuckles! Your hat is on backwards."

Knuckles flipped his hat around and turned around himself. He glanced around in confusion. "Where'd everyone go?"

Tails sighed as he quickly turned Knuckles around.

"I'm about to teach Dave the Intern a lesson he'll never forget!" Amy said, determination in her green eyes.

"Every teacher I ever had said that, and they were all wrong. I forgot every lesson... and how to feed myself." Knuckles said. He frowned and pulled a carrot from his ear, causing Penny to cringe. "Oh, false alarm. I do remember."

Penny sighed. Now this is going to be interesting...

"Welcome to Chez Amy, where our motto is, "At least we know what you ordered!"" Amy announced on her opening day.

Penny chuckled a tiny bit as villagers left Meh Burger and up to Chez Amy, knocking the female hedgehog down and accidentally stomping over her.

Dave growled as he watched this. "YOU WIN THIS ROUND! But just you WAIT!"

Amy hummed in a pleased manner as she watched Sonic and Penny take people's orders. "See? People want good service. Dave the Intern can't compete with that."

She was wrong.

"Ahoy! The new Meh Burger drive-through express is now open!" Dave's voice bellowed on a loudspeaker.

Mike glanced up in curiosity. "That voice from the sky is right. Why are we wasting our time here when we could be using a drive-through?"

" Because none of us have cars." Amy pointed out.

The villagers nodded in agreement, but instead they ran to Meh Burger. Tails walked up to Amy and patted her reassuringly. "Don't worry, Amy... It's just a stupid gimmick. It'll pass."

"Yes it will, especially when I have my OWN stupid gimmick!" The pink hedgehog whistled. "I'm excited to announce that starting today, every customer will receive... uh... a Chez Amy... Magic fun rock!"

" Magic fun rocks?!" Old Monkey cried.

" I'm going to collect all fo-o-o-our!" Lady Goat called.

Amy let out a yelp as the crowd trampled on her again.

"Day two of the Battle of the Buns, and already Meh Burger finds itself in a real "pickle". Can it "ketchup? Will Chez Amy "meat" the challenge? "Lettuce" wait and see." Soar the Eagle said. He laughed. "Hello, Pulitzer."

Amy smiled as she walked up to the kids, who were playing with the magic rocks. "How're you folks doing? Magic fun rock for the kids?"

Child Monkey grinned at her. "They're fun to throw!" He tossed a rock over at Penny and Knuckles, and the human girl squeaked in surprise as the rock hit her in the stomach, causing her to accidentally lose control over the bowl she was carrying. The bowl slipped from her hands and landed on Knuckles' head, drowning him in Amy's sauce.

"Oops. Sorry, Knuckles." Penny winced, quickly grabbing the bowl off his head and helping him clean up.

Amy growled at them. "Guys! Chez Amy is all about service. Friendly, smiling, happy service. Now get your lazy buts in gear! She turned to Penny and Knuckles, who were hastily trying to clean up the mess. "Knuckles, Penny, QUIT EATING THE AMY SAUCE!"

Watching at Meh Burger, Dave growled. "You haven't won yet, I shall have my revenge!" He shot a Meh Burger with his shooter and it hit Lady Walrus, who sniffed the burger and smiled widely. " Mmm, that Meh Burger looks delicious!"

Everyone ran to Meh Burger.

"Burger me!" Mike yelled.

"Make mine pre-chewed!" Old Monkey yelled.

"Shoot it in my mo-o-o-o-u-u-u-th!" Lady Goat called out excitedly.

Dave smirked as he used his gun to shoot Meh Burgers at the cheering villagers.

Penny groaned as she sat next to Sonic and the rest of the team, listening to Amy talk about her plan on crushing Dave. "Now, I've designed a food deliver system that bypasses the mouth and inserts the food directly into the customers' stomachs."

Sonic groaned. "Ugh! Okay, Amy, you've totally lost sight of why you're doing this."

"I agree with Sonic." Penny said. "You're treating this like it's some competition, and you're completely forgetting about your main reason on opening this restaurant!"

Amy growled at them. "I'm doing this to destroy Dave the Intern and unerring instincts for what the public wants! I don't care what they want, I KNOW WHAT THEY NEED! GOOD SERVICE WITH A WARM, FRIENDLY SMILE! NOW TELL THEM TO GET IN HERE!"

Penny winced.

"This is nuts..." Sticks sighed, shaking her head at Amy. Sonic grabbed Penny's arm and gently pulled her with him, and the gang left Amy standing there.

Eggman stood in front of the counter, giving Dave his order. "I'd like a Meh Burger."

Dave grabbed a Meh Burger and dropped it on the ground. He lazily picked it up and handed it to Eggman. The doctor glared at him. "That's disgusting! Get me a new one."

"Sorry, I'm on my break." Dave lazily responded, grabbing his paddle ball and lazily playing with it.

Eggman growled and walked up to Chez Amy, where he noticed the pink hedgehog sadly sitting by herself with her homemade sandwich. Hearing him approach, she turned to him, a dull look in her green eyes. " Eggman, what do you want?"

"Revenge, domination, destruction!" Eggman said enthusiastically. "But first, a sandwich of some sort."

Amy sighed at him. "Why don't you just go to stupid Meh Burger like everyone else?"

"I did." Eggman said, annoyance in his voice. "But that simpering jackanapes who works behind the counter was to "busy" to serve me; and my blood sugar was too low to concoct an evil plan to destroy him." He reached to Amy's sandwich and took a bite, humming in surprise. "Oh. Th-that's good. And the service was so fast. Giving me your plate was a tad unhygienic, but still, I'm impressed."

"I'm open!" Penny called as she stood in the soccer field, awaiting for Sonic to kick the ball to her.

After a few minutes of playing, Sonic hummed thoughtfully. "Anyone else hungry?"

"Yeah, I'm full!" Knuckles called. Penny glanced at him and noticed he had two carrots stuck in his ear.

Sonic grinned. "How about we go to Amy's restaurant for lunch?"

"Huh?" Knuckles asked in confusion.

Sonic walked up to the echidna and pulled the carrots out of his ears. " Let's have lunch at Chez Amy."

"Good idea!" Penny grinned. "I'm actually in the mood for one of Amy's sandwiches, and she'll be thrilled to have some customers."

Sticks frowned. " We'll never get past the moat."

"And if we do, she'll make us work and yell at us." Knuckles said, shuddering.

Sonic sighed, dropping his arms. "Okay, we won't go."

"I agree with Penny." Tails pipped up. "I think going to Amy's restaurant is a great idea."

"Don't patronize me." Sonic grumbled, shaking his head.

Eggman hummed as he finished the rest of his food. Amy sat in the same position, looking miserable as ever as the doctor finished the last few bites. "That was delicious. Why isn't this place packed?"

" Clearly I don't know how to bring in the customers." Amy grumbled at him in annoyance.

"Well, I do. Make me your partner, and I'll fill the place, and together, we'll bring Meh Burger to its knees." Eggman said. He muttered quietly. " Even though it's a building."

Amy thought for a moment, and then smiled, shaking Eggman's hand.

Pretty soon, Amy's restaurant was filled with customers. Amy served while Orbot and Cubot cooked. Amy stopped what she was doing and turned to Eggman with a grin. "I don't know how you did it, but you totally turn things around."

Eggman grinned at her. " It was simple. I blew up Meh Burger last night."

"YOU WHAT?!" Amy shrieked in shock, dropping her tray.

"Look, I'm a villain. I have a pretty limited playbook." Eggman pointed out. He pointed to the dropped food on the floor. "That's coming out of your paycheck." The doctor glanced out the door and noticed Dave sulking around. " Ooh, look! It's that fellow from Meh Burger."

Eggman watched Dave kick a rock. "He seems sad."

Dave kicked a stone again, and Eggman snickered, turning to Amy. "Now's your chance to rub salt in his wounds. Go! Go and taunt your vanquished foe! Grind your heel into the carcass of your defeated enemy! Humiliate him, and brush away the fragments of a shattered confidence!"

Amy walked out, and came back with Dave and a smile. "I felt bad for him, so I gave him a job."

Eggman watched with an open mouth as he watched Amy lead Dave into Meh Burger. " Okay. You've got a lot to learn about foe vanquishing and salt wound rubbing."

Amy smiled at Dave. "Here as Chez Amy we offer service with a smile."

Dave glanced at her in confusion. "A what now?"

Amy smiled at him. "That... thing you do with your mouth, where it turns up at the ends?"

Dave thought for a moment, and slowly he smiled.

Amy nodded in approval and continued. " Remember. The customer always comes first. So make sure you give them exactly what they want."

She walked off. Dave glanced at her back. "Can I go on break now?"

Eggman glared at him. "First, get me an Amy Royale."

"I'm on my break..." Dave sighed.

Eggman grumbled in annoyance.

Eggman turned to Dave as the intern handed him a salad. "Can I get..."

"We're out." Dave said flatly.

Eggman grunted and tried the soup, cringing in annoyance as he glanced at the soup and then the salad. "The soup is cold, and the salad is hot! How is that even possible?!"

He turned to see Dave moping nearby him and groaned in annoyance. "Do you have to do that here?! Okay, I'll move." The doctor got up, but Dave stopped him.

"You can't! Don't you see the cones?"

Eggman growled, turning his back on the cones and glaring at Dave in annoyance as the intern continued to mop.

Eggman sighed. "Fine. I'll stay. Get me a sandwich."

Eggman stood up and yelped as he slipped. Hearing his robots burst into laughter, the doctor glared at them, and they quickly bent down. Eggman stumbled a little until he finally got into a good standing position, and glared at Dave. "That's it! Prepare to be eliminated!"

Eggman pressed a button on his controller, and a second later robots came, chasing the villagers out of the restaurant. Amy ran in, her eyes wide. "What's going on?!"

" The annihilation of that upstart by my army of robots" Eggman responded.

Amy stared at Eggman in surprise. " But this is half your restaurant!" She pulled out her hammer and smacked it away.

"Like I say, I don't have a lot of plays in my playbook. But if it makes you feel better, I'll just destroy your half." Eggman said.

Amy frowned. Eggman ran off, leaving Amy to fight the robots herself. She quickly gabbed her communicator and pressed it. " Sonic. I need some help with the restaurant!"

"Amy, we don't want to work for you." Sonic sighed in annoyance.

"Eggman's robots are attacking and I..."

" Well I'm happy to help with that!"

The conversation ended, and Amy turned her attention back to the battle. Sonic and Penny both arrived at the same time and smashed away the robots, and the rest of the team joined. When the fight was over, the gang walked over the wrecked ruins of Chez Amy, not knowing that Dave was still inside.

"So do I still get my break?" Dave called out.

"From now on, I'm going to leave the food service to the professionals, and do the kicking butt with my friends!" Amy smiled as she sat at her table with her friends.

"Wise choice, Amy." Penny smiled.

Dave walked up with a pile of Meh Burgers with a smile on his face. " As a thank you for rebuilding Meh Burger, this is on the house."

Everyone grabbed a Meh Burger. Amy hopefully grabbed hers, but her hopeful smile turned to a frown of disgust when she noticed a live fish in her burger bun.

"When will he ever learn..." Penny sighed.
