Hey guys the author here, sorry i haven't updated this in a while I've just started my first job after graduating Uni in the November of 2019 before this whole pandemic hit and jobs were impossible to get. And before you go, hang but didn't you just upload the other fanfic well the answer is yes but i already had that wrote up whereas this chapter you're about to read wasn't.
Anyway, thank you for the reviews as usual and I hope you enjoy this next chapter.
"It's good to see you. We've been really worried." Dan said to his nephew as he closed the door behind them.
Walking into the living room, holding her hand out for Drew to shake, Leah says: "Oh, Drew hello I'm Leah. I'm Dan's wife, glad to finally meet you."
"So, what happened?" Dan asked him as he took the bag from Drew's hand and placed it on the floor "Where have you been?"
"Err, staying at a mate's place." Drew eventually told him.
"Right well, your mother has been worried sick about yeh so, I mean I'm sorry, but I had to tell her. It's been a while since we heard anything."
"Look, I just came here to get what's mine okay. So, we can cut all the small talk."
Looking at Leah then back at Drew, with a confused look on his face Dan asked: "Sorry, I don't think I understand."
"Well, my dad must have left me something. I just want to get it and get out of here." Drew informed the couple.
"Okay, err well the thing is the will isn't being read until tomorrow." Dan tells him.
"I thought all that stuff would have been organised by now?"
"Well, it takes a bit of time to organise." Dan says with a hit of anger.
"Your dad's solicitor is coming in the morning." Leah let's Drew know so Dan didn't have to.
"Except I'm not going to be here in the morning, am I."
Dan replies: "Well, if you want to know what's in the will your gonna have to be."
"You can always stay overnight if you'd like. We'd love to have you." Leah said hoping Drew would agree to stay.
Shrugging his shoulders: "I guess I haven't got much choice."
With that Drew goes to sit on the sofa while both Leah and Dan just stare at each other.
(8:25am) 12 hours and 46 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Tony and Rachel's House – Living Room and Kitchen
Tony was currently making toast while Lucas was sat at the table just playing with his breakfast.
"Err, mate." Tony suddenly says breaking the awkward silence "I think we really need to talk about this."
"There's nothing to talk about, yet." Lucas responds.
"Oh, believe me there is." Tony says walking away from the bench, so he can sit beside Lucas "You're going to be a dad soon."
"That's ages away."
Tony clicks his fingers as he explains: "It's going to come up on you like that and there's things you've got to plan."
"It's cool okay."
"No Lucas it is not cool okay. I mean who's going to look after this baby when you and Lee go back to school? Also, how are you going to pay for it?"
"We'll work it out. Cassie and Rocco have figured it out so I don't see why we can't."
"When and in terms of them two they only have it figured out because they were honest from the start and didn't hide the fact that Cassie was pregnant from either Sally or Johnny. Then that lead to them all sitting down and coming up with a plan well before the baby arrives."
"Soon. Okay, just not now I'm still trying to get my head around everything."
"Ok, well that doesn't mean you can just pretend that this isn't happening."
"I know that." Lucas replies.
Sighing, Tony continues: "Luc, what's going on in that head of yours mate?"
Before Lucas can reply there's footsteps from the other side of the kitchen and Matilda appears opening the fridge.
Standing up with his bowl, Lucas places it in the sink as Tony says to Matilda: "Hey Mattie, how are you?"
"Fine." She replies as she takes out the orange juice.
"I just made some toast love; do you want to join us for breaky?" Tony asks her.
"I can't, I've got to go out." Lucas informs his dad.
"To see her?" Matilda automatically says.
"I've got to go." Lucas replies then quickly leaves.
Matilda watches him walk away then goes back to making her drink, just as Tony stands up: "Look Mattie, I know this is a really hard time for you, but Lucas is not trying to make this difficult."
Matilda doesn't give Tony a chance to say anything else before she too turns and leaves the room as she doesn't want to have this conversation.
Meanwhile…
Summer Bay – Leah and Dan's House – Living Room
Dan was just moving the boxes full of his brother's stuff as Drew enters from the kitchen.
"Good day." Dan says as he place a box on top of two others beside the doorway that leads to the other bedrooms in the house "Your up early this morning."
"Do yeh have a problem with that?" Drew quizzes Dan as he sits down on the sofa.
"No, just thought we could have breakfast together. We haven't had a proper chance to catch up yet."
"Yeah, I got my own." Drew says as he starts to read the magazine, he'd pickup off the table.
Suddenly Leah interrupts the pair as she starts to speak calling after both VJ and Ryan as well: "Come on boys, sorry that took so long. Stella insisted on giving the boys breaky before she let me take them."
Ryan and VJ walks over to Dan and they give him a hug as Leah continues: "Hey boys, this is your cousin Drew. Anyway, we'll get out of your hair."
"So, these are the little guys you told me about." Drew said as he puts the magazine down and looks at his cousins "They don't look like they can play soccer."
"Yes, we do." VJ tells him with a toothless smile.
"Oh yeah, reckon you could beat me?" Drew asks them "I'm pretty good."
"Easy." Ryan replies as he moves his soccer ball between his hands.
Grabbing the ball, Drew says: "Well come on then."
"Have fun." Leah said as VJ leads the way outside.
Summer Bay – Leah and Dan's House - Kitchen
"Thanks." Dan replies as they walk into the kitchen "Alright."
Stopping, Drew turns around and says: "Where are you off to man?"
Dan looks confused as Drew asks him that: "Err, going to play soccer."
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've got it covered." Drew states.
With that he walks out the house closing the back door behind him.
