"Snowpoint city, the frigid north of Sinnoh. Normally home to many ice types, but recently a group of Torterra, Grotel, and Turtwig have been seen roaming about. I'd like for you three to look into why it's possibly happening." Professor Cerise said. "Your boat leaves in two hours. Dress warm."
Ash quickly ran off to get the Pokémon for the mission ahead.
"He's going to forget a coat isn't he?" Goh asked.
"Probably, should we let him be cold?" Chloe responded.
"That's a bit mean, at least make sure he's got a jacket." Goh replied, deciding to get ready as well.
At the docks
"Ash, how are you so well packed, you spent an hour looking for pokemon." Chloe said shocked.
"I just knew what I needed for the trip, most of it was self explanatory." Ash said calmly.
"To be fair we are going to a place called SNOWpoint." Goh emphasized.
"And the dock is right there by the city, we don't have a lot of foot travel this time." Ash explained. "Besides, I brought Torterra along, so any snow we have to trudge through, we have help."
"Are you actually implying this will be a simple mission?" Chloe asked.
"Not implying, stating. It'll be nothing but smooth sailing." Ash said confidently.
Later that night
'SLAM!' The door to their room swung open.
"Goh! Chloe! We have to go now!" Ash panicked.
Before either could respond the boat violently shook. The three trainers quickly got any necessities, and made a beeline for the lifeboats.
"You three! On here quickly!" A crew member said directing them to a boat.
As they got on, another violent shake threw the lifeboat free, with the three trainers holding on for their lives.
'SPLASH!'
The lifeboat hit the water creating a wave around them.
"Is everyone okay?" Goh asked.
"I'm fine, a bit scared but fine." Chloe said nervously.
"How about you Ash?" Goh asked.
"Ash?" Chloe said looking behind her to see no one. "He was right here with us, you don't think?" Chloe said looking into the water.
Blasting up from the water was an orange blur, it landed, staying afloat with Ash and Pikachu holding on.
"Ash!" Goh and Chloe exclaimed, as his Buizel swam towards the boat.
"I told you, smooth sailing." Ash said weakly.
"Any idea what attacked us?" Goh asked.
"None, I couldn't make anything out, even underwater." Ash said, starting to close his eyes.
"No you don't." Chloe said, shaking Ash awake. "We can't have you falling asleep on us until we know you're okay."
"We've drifted pretty far from the other boats, don't you think we should try getting back to them?" Goh asked.
"Which way is back?" Ash asked looking around, nothing in sight, even the actual boat was nowhere in sight. "We must've been thrown far."
"So we pick a direction then." Goh said thinking.
"Does anyone have their phone, maybe we can find a nearby island, or even a signal to call for help." Chloe offered.
"Mines waterlogged." Goh said.
"Same." Chloe replied.
"Weird, your's aren't waterproof?" Ash asked, going through his. "No signal, but if this map is correct, there should be an island just a few miles that way." Ash said pointing in a direction. "Buizel think you can get us that way?"
Buizel quickly got behind the lifeboat and began propelling himself, and the boat forward.
The sun had begun to rise by the time they made it to the island.
"I've never been so happy to see land!" Goh exclaimed, hugging the ground.
"Where are we?" Chloe said looking at the cliff side in front of them.
"I'll take a look to see if I can find anyone." Ash said, grabbing a pokeball.
"Not without us." Chloe said.
"I understand sticking together, but Staraptor can only hold one of us." Ash said.
"Goh, did you bring flight Pokémon by chance?" Chloe asked.
"Sorry, I didn't expect to be stranded, best I've got is Scyther." Goh said.
"Just, hurry back, and be careful." Chloe pleaded.
"I will." Ash said, before taking off.
An hour later, Staraptor flew back down.
"So I have good news, and bad news. The good news is we made it to Sinnoh. The bad news is we're on Iron Island, about as far from Snowpoint city as you can get." Ash said.
"Is there anyone who can at least help us get off of the island?" Chloe asked.
"Not until Byron comes home, and I don't know when that'll be." Ash admitted.
"So we're stranded! You said this would be easy!" Chloe yelled.
"Chloe, where's Goh?" Ash said, remaining calm.
"He's right… of course he's gone." Chloe deadpanned.
"Yell at me later, right now we need to locate Goh, and make sure he's alright." Ash said.
"Run away!" Goh shouted, running towards them.
A Flash Cannon shot out after him, just barely missing it's target.
"Goh what did you do?" Chloe asked.
"Went exploring… pant… found Regi… pant… not happy." Goh said catching his breath.
"A Regi?" Ash and Chloe shouted looking at each other.
Registeel made its way towards them, readying another Flash Cannon.
"Infernape use Flamethrower!" Ash called out.
The two attacks collided, Infernape's head start giving him an advantage against the more powerful Pokémon.
"A little help would be nice." Ash said. "Infernape use Flamethrower. Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"
"Right, Cinderace use Pyro Ball. Arctozolt use Bolt Beak!" Goh said, sending out another Pokémon.
"Alright, Boltund, Eevee you're up. Boltund use Spark! Eevee use Copycat!"
The six Pokémon launched attacks at the Registeel, pushing it back slightly. Registeel forcefully pushed back Boltund, and Arctozolt, both getting knocked out.
"Gliscor, Torterra! Let's go!" Ash called out another two Pokémon.
"Pikachu use Thunderbolt!"
"Infernape use Flamethrower!"
"Torterra use Leaf Storm!"
"Gliscor use Fire Fang!"
"Cinderace use Blaze Kick!"
"Eevee use Copycat!"
As Registeel fell back, Goh prepped a pokeball.
"Now! Pokeball go!" Goh shouted throwing the pokeball.
The trainers were silent, waiting for one of the two outcomes. Either Goh caught Registeel, or they had to keep fighting. A sigh of relief fell on them, as the ding signifying its capture was heard.
"Goh, you do realize how crazy that is, right? You just caught another legendary." Chloe exclaimed.
"Come on, we should at least set up a shelter or camp until someone with a boat arrives." Ash said, heading towards where Goh and Registeel came from. "With any luck Registeel's chamber will be empty now."
The three trainers went to sleep hungry. It had been an exhausting few hours, and they would worry about food in the morning.
Byron made it to his house to find a note on the door.
"Three trainers stranded here! I hope I'm not too late!" Byron said rushing to go find them.
Chloe woke up to find a blanket over her, and the smell of food cooking. Opening her eyes, she saw they weren't in the cave anymore.
"Good, you're awake." Byron said, turning from the makeshift stove. "Sorry about the accommodations, and about moving you, but I wanted to make sure you were all safe."
"Thank you sir, where are the others?" Chloe asked.
"On the boat, they woke up about half an hour back, and asked to use the phone." Byron said. "Food should be ready soon, care to go get them."
At the boat
"I'm just glad to hear you three are alright, when I heard the boat went down I was worried." Professor Cerise said.
"We'll try and make it to Snowpoint city as soon as we can Professor, but it'll take a bit, all of our supplies were lost." Goh said.
"Don't worry, if you don't feel safe about going, just come back to Vermillion, your safety is more important." Professor Cerise said. "Say hi to Chloe when she wakes up."
"Will do, bye Professor." Ash said hanging up the phone.
"So what do we do?" Chloe asked from the doorway.
"My gut says go home. We have no cold weather clothes, and who's to say we make it there on time?" Goh said.
"We can get gear there, and Byron said he can help us get a lift to Snowpoint." Ash said. "We can get simple supplies in Canalave, and cold weather gear later."
"Last time you were this confidant we almost ended up stranded." Chloe reminded him.
"Last time wasn't my fault, and I know the guy who will be helping us." Ash said.
"Then I say we at least try for it. We're already here." Chloe said.
"Okay, I guess I'll agree as well." Goh said.
"Now come on Byron has breakfast waiting for us." Chloe said, heading back towards the cabin.
