Loonatics: United

World of Chaos

Episode 91: Synkentrono

The hover-cab arrived at their destination, flying down and stopping right before the facade of the place. The building was white, bright and glossy, with the name of the restaurant at the top, in black letters and with an elegant font. 'Synkentrono' was its name.

Ace whistled at the place´s looks while getting out of the cab along with the rest. "Sweet!"

They walked towards the automatic doors and entered the restaurant. Sylvia and Declan approached the receptionist that stood behind the white marble bar, wearing a white suit and a black tie. He was a dog, an Australian shepherd, to be precise. "Oh, goodnight!" The receptionist greeted kindly. "We´re glad to have you here again!"

"Hi, Jago!" Sylvia replied. "We got a reservation. Table for nine."

"Sure! Go ahead, cobbers of mine!" Jago pointed at the restaurant´s inside with a huge, welcoming smile on his face.

They were taken to their table by a waitress, a kit fox, with long brown hair. She wore a black suit and a white shirt. "Would you like to order now?" She asked while holding her digital notepad.

"Yes, please." Susan said. "Nine nabemono."

"Alright." The waitress wrote down the order on the notepad with the stylus. "Uhm, for drink?" She looked back at them.

"Oh, I´d like an iced tea." Sylvia responded. "Lemon, please."

"A beer." Duck said. "Dark."

"Yeah, me too." Lexi asked.

After the rest ordered their respective beverages as well, the waitress walked away. The team was fascinated with the aesthetic of the restaurant, the light was dim, the walls were a mix of black and white, abstract works of art hung from the walls and right at the center of the place was a holographic, shape shifting bonfire, contained inside a transparent tube. "What do you think, guys?" Sylvia asked.

"It´s fantastic." Tech said, with his eyes admiring the dancing fire.

"I love it!" Lexi praised. "Everything looks so...sophisticated."

"Yeah, 'Le Bien' is not even close, and it´s one of the best restaurants in Acmetropolis." Duck commented.

"Oh that pompous and expensive place with golden cutlery and rude employees? Yeah, this place beats it by far." Rev added. "I don´t know if their spoons are actually made from legit gold or they just appear to be." He shrugged." Meh, whatever the case, I like it better here."

Slam growled, expressing he was hungry.

"Big guy, patience" Lexi looked at her comrade with warning.

"Yes, Slam." Tech said. "We just arrived."

Sylvia chuckled. "Don´t worry, the service is pretty fast here."

Right after Sylvia spoke, the waitress arrived, approaching them cautiously while holding two trays with their drinks and their nabemono. "Nine..." She gasped slightly when placing a tray over a corner of the table. "...nabemono." The waitress distributed the dishes first, then gave each one their respective drink. "Anything else you want to order?"

"Guys?" Sylvia looked at the Loonatics, they all just expressed they were good at the moment. She looked at the waitress with a grin. "Thanks, we´re fine for now."

"Alright." The waitress smirked back at her. "Enjoy your dinner!" She took the now empty trays and walked away from them.

Slam admired the big chunks of red meat that floated over the hot-pot, smelling its spiciness, salivating while holding his spoon.

"Bon appetite, then!" Sylvia said and they all began to eat.

"Oh my..." Lexi said with her mouth full. "...this is so good!"

Slam nodded and growled with concur while taking a bite from the dripping piece of meat that he casually held with his hand.

"Yeah, not bad." Duck said after tasting it, then he drank from his beer.

The night passed with the Loonatics constantly giving more praise and good opinions about the food and the place. Slam burped while putting both hands on his nape, growling, expressing the food was amazing.

"Slam, do you always have to do t..?" Tech sighed while shrugging and shaking his head. "It´s useless." He looked at Susan and her family. "But he is right, though. The food was amazing, indeed!"

"Yes, it was the best nabemono I´ve had in my life! And the first one to be honest but I doubt it will ever be surpassed!" Rev opined.

"Oh, I´m so glad you guys liked it." Sylvia said.

"And don´t forget the place." Ace gestured at their surroundings. "I´m sure it could be considered a piece of art."

"It truly is." Lexi added.

Duck took the last sip of his beer. "And I´m glad they serve alcoholic drinks, that would be a point against if it wasn´t the case." He chuckled while winking.

"I agree." Declan took his glass of whisky and took a long sip from it.

After a few more trivial conversations and long tracks of smooth synth music, the Loonatics and the Sanders left the place, totally satisfied and happy. They traveled home via hover-cab and arrived at the apartment, blissful yet tired. Duck got his sleeping clothes from his bag. "Good night, everyone." He yawned and entered the restroom.

"Thank you so much." Ace told Sylvia and her husband.

"Oh, no problem, dear!" Sylvia said. "We´re at your service."

Susan stretched while yawning. "Goodnight." She kissed her mother´s cheek then approached her father and did the same. Susan then looked at the team. "Have a good night, guys."

"Nite, honey!" Tech said while exiting the kitchen, holding a glass of water.

Everyone went to their respective rooms in order to get some good sleep. In the visits room, Ace was getting in his bed, having put on his sleeping clothes, which were just an old, white T-Shirt and a pair of black sport shorts. "Well, that was pretty nice." He got into the sheets and laid on his side, facing at Slam, who had just gotten comfortable in his sleeping bag. "Don´t you think, big guy?"

Slam grunted, giving a brief affirmative answer, closing his eyes right away and sighing with tiredness. He wore just a pair of gray jogging pants.

"Okay, sleep well, man." Ace turned on his back while placing both hands behind his neck, sighing with calmness while glaring at the white ceiling.

"They´re awesome." Tech said all of a sudden, intending to have a brief conversation with his boss. "I love them so much." He had put on a green T-Shirt and a pair of black pajama pants.

Ace chuckled briefly. "What a nice pair of inlaws you got there, huh? Yeah, I already like them."

Tech emitted a brief, silent laugh. "It´s so perfect, man, I tell you. Great girlfriend, with just as great parents." He sighed with thankfulness. "I´m just so happy right now." He chuckled.

"We´re all happy for you, man." Ace replied. "You deserve it."

"Thanks, boss." Tech responded. "I appreciate it."

"No problem, man." Ace said, sighing with relief while laying on his side, hugging one of the pillows. "Goodnight, Doc."

"Night, boss." Tech also got comfortable inside his sleeping bag, stretching while sighing and laying on his side as well.

Duck was falling asleep, his sleeping clothes consisted of a brown long sleeve t-shirt and red shorts. Rev was looking at him in the corner of his eye. "Hey, man." He wore a gray undershirt and light blue pajama pants.

"Hmm." Duck babbled.

"You awake man?" Rev inquired.

"Yeah." Duck spoke with great somnolence and annoyance.

"Oh, cool." Rev nodded, glaring at the ceiling. "What do you think we´ll do tomorrow?"

Duck let out an irritated sigh. "Man, I wanna sleep."

"But I´m not sleepy yet." Rev argued.

"So?" Duck replied. "I don´t care, I am and I want to sleep."

Rev nodded, a bit disappointed. "Okay. I´ll let you sleep then." He received no reply from him. "So quiet." Rev started to speak to himself. "Man, if she was here, my little raccoon." He sighed with love and remembrance. "She would have loved that nameno...that thing. Rebecca can have her temper sometimes but almost always she´s just so sweet and loving. I know I´m sounding cheesy but it´s just my heart speaking. It wouldn´t have been polite to just bring her with me, because they invited us, and just us, you know? Yeah, but don´t get me wrong, I´m really enjoying this vacation. It´s just..." Rev sighed. "I just wanna hug her right now, that would be nice." All of a sudden, he heard a fart, making a face of disgust. "Oh man, he was not kidding."

Lexi and Susan were talking about their boyfriends, as previously planned. Lexi wore pink pajamas while Susan wore blue ones. "Favorite food?" Susan asked.

"Hmm, carrots, I guess." Lexi replied with a chuckle.

"Chocolate." Susan said.

"Oh, that´s right. He has a special place in his lab to store it. Kinda weird." Lexi said.

"Really?" Susan spoke between chuckles. "Aw."

"Yeah, for real." Lexi thought for a moment, then came up with another question. "Uhm...favorite book?"

"Oh...I think is 'The Great Expansion', by Lemaitre." Susan replied.

"Ace´s is called something like 'Forging History'." Lexi said. "I have no idea who wrote it, though."

Susan chuckled a bit. "Let me guess, about Acmetropolis Forgers?"

"Yup." Lexi responded.

"Okay...my turn." Susan scratched her chin for a second. "Greatest fear."

"Hmm...that´s a good one." Lexi got very thoughtful, remembering her boyfriend´s struggle with that topic. "Well, I think fear itself is what he, well, fears the most. Also, it has brought him into some serious situations."

"His anxiety." Susan added, speaking empathically.

"Yeah." Lexi sighed. "But he´s getting over it. He´s a very strong man, so, I´m sure he can beat it."

Susan stood silent for a moment. "Tech is afraid of the unknown. I mean, he loves exploration, discovery and experimentation, but it´s more in a sense of, what could happen in the future, being his future, my future or even the one of the universe itself. That uncertainty...I think that´s why he became a scientist, to make that uncertainty smaller. Discovery by discovery."

Lexi chuckled softly. "You two are one of a kind."

Susan sighed. "He´s wonderful." She said with a loving tone. "I´m glad you all came here, by the way. To, well...know my family, my home world. Thank you for coming, I mean it."

"Thank you for inviting us, girl." Lexi replied, laying on her side while yawning softly. "It´s awesome here."

Susan also got in a comfortable position in her bed. "Goodnight, Lexi."

"Goodnight." Lexi closed her eyes, rapidly getting in a deep sleep.
