Sorry I haven't responded the past few, anyways just wanted to say, it's alway nice to see comments from anyone. As for Ash's change in clothes, it's partially reaffirming to everyone around him that he's still a he, it's also setting up for something that's right around the corner.
Just South of Violet City
"Come on guys we can walk for a while from here at least." Ash said.
"I thought you said we had to fly to safely get there." Goh commented.
"We do, but no point in flying this straight path to the mountains." Ash replied. "Charizard can probably handle it, but I don't know about Dragonite or Skarmory."
"Just talk to him." Chloe whispered to Goh.
"So, you said your Charizard trained here a lot, must be exciting to see it again for you two." Goh said.
"Yeah, Charizard will be excited to see his old friends again. Liza even said she had something for him to see." Ash said.
"Look about what happened, I got caught up in the moment and I just… I was an idiot." Goh admitted.
"Huh, oh that. If you think I'm being like this because of that, don't worry about it." Ash said.
"Oh that's good, for a second I thought you were still angry at me." Goh said, relaxing.
"So, how'd it go? Start to patch things up?" Chloe asked.
"Ash said we're all good, no problems." Goh said happily.
"Wow, you really believe that don't you." Chloe said with a laugh. "You kissed him out of nowhere without any warning, and you think it's all good now?"
"Ash said to not worry about it though." Goh admitted.
"Exactly. You don't worry about it, because he still hasn't decided on how to go forward." Chloe said.
"I'm sure you're just overthinking things, we're fine." Goh said.
A while later
"Here we are. From here we fly." Ash said grabbing two pokeballs. "Charizard! Dragonite! You're up!"
"Come on out Skarmory!" Goh proclaimed.
"Stick close, and don't try anything too risky." Ash said, climbing onto Charizard. "Remember the last time we flew these mountains, we had to walk." Ash said to Charizard. "Ahh, good times."
"He's happy about more walking?" Chloe asked Goh in confusion.
"If we don't mention it, maybe he won't make us climb the mountain ourselves." Goh whispered.
Ash led them through the mountains taking twists and turns, ups and downs.
"Ash you do know where we're going right?" Chloe asked.
"Of course, the Charicific Valley where else?" Ash replied eagerly.
"Let me try and rephrase her question. You do know how to get there right?" Goh asked.
"I thought I did, but not so much anymore." Ash said honestly.
"Let's stop over there for a bit, I'll see if I can pull up a map." Chloe said, leading the way to a larger ridge.
"So you just flew in having no idea where you were headed." Goh complained.
"I said I knew the place. I've been there all of one day!" Ash said. "I'll be back, I need to be by myself for a bit."
"You go and do that! It's what you're good at!" Goh yelled after him.
"Try and reconcile with Ash, I'm going to take Dragonite up and see if I can see anything, maybe get a signal even." Chloe said.
"I'll try, but he's being so immature." Goh complained.
"He's being Ash, and you need to be you as well. Be honest with him, this fighting is getting ridiculous." Chloe scolded.
"Okay, I'll go talk to him, but I don't know how much it will do." Goh said heading in the direction Ash went.
A bit of walking and Goh found Ash.
"Ash there you are! I need to talk to you!" Goh said running towards him.
"I thought I said I needed to be alone." Ash responded.
"Look I get you're angry at me. I was an idiot and shouldn't have done that without warning." Goh admitted.
"Goh I'm not angry about having no warning." Ash said.
"Then what is it! Are you just toying with me! Ash I find you attractive and I don't know what to do about it. Even dressed in guys clothes you look cute!" Goh proclaimed.
"Take that back!" Ash said lunging at him.
The two wrestled for a minute until they heard a series of roars. A pack of Charizard flew by, creating a great tailwind, blowing Goh off of the cliff.
"Hold on Goh! I got you!" Ash said grabbing Goh's wrist. Goh doing the same to Ash.
"Ash don't drop me please!" Goh screamed.
"I won't! No matter how I feel." Ash said, trying to pull him up. "I don't know if I can keep doing this."
"You have to! I don't bounce off of rocks!" Goh pleaded.
"Do you trust me?" Ash asked.
"What! Why ask that now!" Goh panicked.
"If you trust me, then you need to let go!" Ash said opening his eyes, a blue glow ensnaring from them.
Goh released his grip, hoping Ash would catch him. It wasn't Ash, or the ground, it was Charizard. Ash's Charizard had caught Goh mid flight, his eyes glowing blue as well.
"That was scary." Goh said, hugging the ground. "I told you, you could keep doing it."
"That's not what I meant." Ash said. "Until the other day, it didn't bother me, strangers mistaking me for a girl, it never hurt. That's because all my friends and family still treated me the same."
"Until I kissed you. That's why you changed your style back, isn't it." Goh said, realizing it was his fault.
"Yeah, I mean I knew you had feelings for me, ever since we found Anorith and Lileep's fossils." Ash admitted.
"You knew all the way back then!" Goh said shocked.
"I had a feeling, but didn't say anything just in case. Even then, you still treated me like plain old Ash for the most part." Ash said. "I get that I'm different now, and people are going to treat me a little different, I just didn't think it'd be that much."
"Look, I'll try and treat you more like how you want, if you stop being so hard on us. You've been rough this mission." Goh said, lightly shoving Ash.
"Rough? Goh those Charizard almost threw you off this cliff and didn't even notice. I'm being like this because we need to be careful." Ash said, pushing him back.
"There you two are! Come on I think I found the valley." Chloe said, appearing with Dragonite.
A bit later
"Yeah, this is it." Ash said, seeing the stone Charizard's leading to the entrance. "Charizard you take the lead."
Goh and Chloe were awestruck with silence as they entered the valley. They had predicted twenty maybe thirty Charizard. There had to be at least a hundred in here.
"Ash, good to see you." Liza said walking up.
"Thanks for letting us stop by, these are my friends, Goh and Chloe." Ash said introducing the group.
'SLAM!'
The group turned to see Ash's Charizard in a wrestling style fight with another Charizard.
"Should we stop them?" Goh asked.
"No, those two are old training partners, the one native to here, helped Ash's get mastery of quite a few moves." Liza said.
"Oh Liza, you said there was something you wanted to show me?" Ash reminded.
"That's right! Come with me, they're in a safer area." Liza said heading towards her cabin.
She led them out back, where her Charizard, Charla was caring for a group of Charmander.
"Your Charizard is the only one to get close to Charla, so these little guys are technically half yours." Liza explained. "I was planning on sending the healthier ones to professors for starter Pokémon, but I thought I'd at least offer you one first."
"I don't want to replace my Charizard, but if you're offering one, Goh how about it?" Ash asked.
"Wait seriously! Are you sure?" Goh said surprised.
"Of course, you're trying to complete your Pokédex, and if anyone will take care of one it'd be you." Ash said.
"I don't know what to say." Goh stammered.
"How about thanks." Chloe said sarcastically.
"Well, go ahead you quite literally have the pick of the litter." Liza said.
"I pick this one." Goh said, picking up the smallest Charmander, the flame of its tail barely there.
"Are you sure, I mean there are other choices." Liza said surprised.
"I'm sure, this one needs a good home, and as long as Ash and I are working together, he can also train with his dad." Goh said.
"Goh was it? I hope this won't matter but that ones a girl." Liza explained.
"Then she'll get plenty of love and attention." Goh said determined.
"Well then, she's yours." Ash said. "And if you'll excuse me, mine is in a battle, and I want to see how it goes!" Ash said, running back towards his Charizard.
