Hello folks, it's time for Chapter 97! The meeting had concluded for now, and it's time to party! But will hat be all there is to it? Or is there something shady going on...?
The first day of the alliance meeting went by rather quickly and smoothly. There were a few quarrels and arguments, but things managed to remain civil for the most part. Eventually everyone decided to break for the day and enjoy the food and entertainment Nabooru had prepared for them all at the Velvet Rogue nightclub.
"Woo! Get us some more booze over here!"
It seemed Nabooru was enjoying everything just as much as she intended everyone else to. She laughed out loud swinging her mug of alcohol in the air, while holding an unwilling Link around his neck.
"Let go of me, you drunk!" Link shouted in frustration, before Nabooru jammed the mug into his mouth and forced him to drink down what was left in it.
"Just relax and have a drink you stud!" laughed out Nabooru, "Now let's dance the night away! Woohoooo!"
Everyone watched as Nabooru went spinning around the club with Link in tow, until the two fell over and impacted onto the ground behind a table.
"Ooooh... you wanna have a go here on the floor in fronna everyone? You naughty little kiiing...!" they could hear Nabooru say in a drunken slurred voice, as they saw her throw her top into the air.
"Get offa me!" Link shouted.
"Heh, never a dull moment for Link around here, is there?" Impa spoke to Ruto, "When I first found out he was going to be the Gerudo King, I was worried about him, but he seems to be really enjoying his life here."
"Yes, I think this is truly the place where he belongs." Ruto spoke, "Back when I first found out he was to be the king of the Gerudo I was rather jealous of him being around so many women like this. But seeing how happy he is with the Gerudo, and all the hard work he's done to make things right for them... I don't mind at all anymore." the zora queen looked to Impa and grinned, "Plus they made him a fantastic lover, I'm sure you know about that."
"Ah heh..." Impa muttered, blushing red, "Yes, I trained him when he was young so he could go on that journey of his, and I'm fascinated with the way he's grown into such a grand king, as well as a fantastic lover. I would have never thought he'd end up being the one to give me a child."
"That reminds me, did he ever tell you why he left for seven years to begin with?" Ruto asked curiously, "I was worried about him for so long, Saria was too."
"He never really told me why." Impa shook his head, "He just said that he had an important goal in mind for an old friend..."
Impa watched curiously as Link was trying to get away from Nabooru as she kept trying to make him drink down another bottle of alcohol.
"I wonder if he was ever able to find what he was looking for..."
Saria meanwhile was watching Link and Nabooru, giggling at how well the two of them got along. The Kokiri took a glance over at Reirousa, who was staring out at the two as well. But as soon as the Gerudo training general saw Saria was looking, she turned her head away.
Saria sighed out, knowing something was going to need to be done for Reirousa to be honest with Link, and herself.
"Um, is there something the matter?" Nabooru's assistant Halei asked as she sat beside Vekai.
The Kokiri girl stared up at her wordlessly, before saying "I like your glasses."
"Well thank you!" Halei said in surprise at her compliment, "I like your... um.. roots?"
"Thank you." Vekai said, adjusting the plant roots she wore on her face that she arranged to resemble a pair of reading glasses, "I like wearing these because they make me look more intellectual."
"Oh, I see!" Halei said, she was still a little confused about how or why, but since she went around wearing a bunny hood she wasn't exactly one to comment on fashion, "So King Link mentioned you're the assistant to the Kokiri leader?"
"Yes, Mido appointed me when he realized he needed help to manage things in our forest village, not that he would ever admit that. He can be stubborn at times, but I enjoy working with him." Vekai said with a hint of a smile.
Halei giggled, "Hee hee, I can understand that. Lady Nabooru can be difficult to work with at times herself."
She took a look over to Nabooru who was watching a waitress pour a glass of wine from a bottle. Nabooru watched carefully and nodded to the waitress to motion that there was enough, before snatching the bottle itself and started drinking it down, leaving the waitress to sigh out and hand the glass off to someone else.
"Like tonight for instance." she said sweatdropping.
"Mido is like that with milk, he gets it imported from a ranch out in Hyrule Field. He says it's supposed to make him big and strong, but there hasn't been much results." Vekai said, then muttered to herself with a small smile, "Not that I mind though..."
After having calmed Nabooru down, Link took a large bite of the hot cucco wing from the platter he was eating and glanced around to see everyone enjoying the night. While they were all there mostly for professional reasons, there was no reason why they couldn't bond together as friends like this, which arguably could be just as important as the business part of it.
One thing that caught his interest in particular was seeing Nabooru join Saria, Ruto, Impa and Darunia as they were all gathered at the table, talking, eating, and laughing together. He smiled warmly at the sight of the five of them enjoying themselves like that.
'There's been some setbacks from time to time, but I think it's been as good as it can ever get, and seeing all of them so happy... it just makes it feel like it was worth it.' Link thought to himself, taking a sip of his favorite chu alcohol mix drink.
Sir Knave was drinking down a mug of alcohol, as Sir Lackey was just calmly enjoying a cup of tea. Knave sighed out blissfully from the taste of the beverage, but a sensation went right through him and his legs fidgeted.
"P-Pardon me Lady Impa, but I need to go use the... um, facilities!" Knave said standing and saluting to her.
"Go on then, just don't fall in like last time." chuckled Impa.
"Yes Maam!" Knave saluted again as he went running off.
"Do we want to know?" Ruto asked sweatdropping.
"No you don't." Impa simply said, taking a sip of her drink.
At that moment the music played by the band started to die down, and some torches were lit on the sides of the stage in the nightclub. A Gerudo woman in a flashy white and red suit and top hat came up onto the stage and called out to the patrons.
"Hello and thank you for being here ladies and... oh right, we actually have gentlemen here tonight!" said the Gerudo, "For the newcomers here, I'm the owner of the Velvet Rogue nightclub here in Gerudo Town and Master of Ceremonies, Tauvale! We have a special show tonight for our visitors, a performance by the mysterious and exotic red goddess of the dance, Madame Scarlet, as well as her new co-star!"
The crowd clapped out as the curtains moved open. Some very faint music started, and there was a flash of mist that rose up around the area. When it cleared away there stood a somewhat familiar looking Gerudo woman clad in lascivious silk garments that left little to the imagination, and showed off her impressive hips. Her face was covered by a veil to hide her identity.
"Ah, so this is her show." Impa spoke with interest, "How fascinating, I've been wanting to see this."
Then coming up beside Madame Scarlet was another Gerudo girl. She was shorter and younger, with a scrawny figure. She had a blue veil and hood on, and wearing a small top strap that showed off her large round breasts. She had a short cloth wrapped around her waist that matched her hood and top.
MC Tauvale shouted out, "I'd like to introduce you all to one of our newest performer at the Velvet Rogue; the young one whose harmonious voice pierces through the skies, the singer known as the Clumsy Crooner!"
"I told you before my name is the Nyiri Nightingale!" the girl shouted out in frustration, waving her arms around in a fit, until she stumbled over and fell on her face.
"Careful there Nightingale. Remember, this is for our allies here." Madame Scarlet said.
"Right, I can't let them find out my identity either!" the Nyiri Nightingale said getting up onto her feet, she stared out at the crowd and waved wildly to Link, "Oh hi Link! Love yaaa!"
"Gee, wonder who this could be." Link snickered as he waved back.
"Uh, wait... is that a new fiance of yer's or something?" Reirousa asked, as some of the others in the crowd faulted over.
Madame Scarlet took a bow, "Allow us to captive you all with a song and dance we have woven together. We call this, 'The Mirage of Providence', enjoy."
The musicians started their instruments as Madame Scarlet started moving her legs slowly, then shaking her hips left and right, and started doing graceful spins and twirls. Her silk sashes sparkled with light as they reflected off the flames on both sides of the stage.
Meanwhile, the one known as the Nyiri Nightingale took a deep breath, and started singing out in a language Link had never heard before. She sang each note in tune to not just the music, but Madame Scarlet's passionate dancing as well. Each time Scarlet did an upward motion, Nightingale would sing at a high pitch, then lower it down as Scarlet did a downward motion. Madame Scarlet did an impressive leap through the air as the Nyiri Nightingale sang out a long note. The audience thought it was rather impressive how in sync they both were.
"Those two have really gotten close together." Link said, happy to have the two of them as his future wives.
As Madame Scarlet moved towards Nyiri Nightingale, Link saw with surprise as the two started dancing alongside each other, Nightingale moved her legs perfectly along with Scarlet's, and it wasn't long before Madame Scarlet started singing along with her.
"Wow, I never knew Nemisa to be a singer as well!" Saria gasped out, "Do you think Aviel taught her?"
"Yeah, now we know what they've been doing for the past weeks." grinned Link, "Maybe you could accompany them on your ocarina some time."
"That'd be kinda nice," Saria spoke softly as she watched the show, "Though I don't know about wearing an outfit like theirs..."
Soon after that, Madame Scarlet and Nyiri Nightingale both did a series of rapid twirls, Scarlet being mindful of helping Nightingale keep herself from spinning out of control. Just as the music came to an end, the two stopped and formed a graceful poise as the stage torches blazed up, ending the show. The crowd immediately broke into a wild applause, as the two of them bowed to everyone.
"In some ways they've changed a lot..." Link spoke to Saria, who nodded.
Nightingale was so focused on bowing though that she dipped too low and fell right off the stage.
There was a moment of silence, but then the crowd went right back to clapping. Scarlet rolled her eyes as the curtain came to a close, her hand reached out and grabbed Nightingale by her top, pulling her up behind the curtain. They could then hear a light sound of someone getting whacked on the head, following by an "Ow!"
"...and in other ways they're just as I remember them on the day I came here to Gerudo Town. But I wouldn't have them any other way." Link grinned.
"Lady Impa," spoke up Sir Lackey walking up to the two, "By chance have you seen Sir Knave?"
"Not since he went to the bathroom." Impa said, "I wonder what's holding him up, he completely missed the girl's show."
"Hope he didn't actually fall in." Ruto said sweatdropping.
"Guess I'll go look for him myself." Impa sighed and got up, "He might have gotten snatched up by some of those women who tried to abduct him earlier." after a thought she turned to Link, "Can you help me find him? You know this club better than I do."
"Sure thing Impa." Link said following after her.
"And if he did get abducted, maybe we can negotiate a trade for you instead." Impa said.
"That's why you asked me?" Link exclaimed.
Meanwhile Nabooru took another drink of her newest cup of alcohol, savoring the bitter taste on her tongue. Back when she was working herself to the bone trying to build Gerudo Town she rarely ever got a chance to do this sort of thing. She had to appreciate how much Link did in helping to relive her of so much of the workload and stress she had dealt with before.
"Alright, now which one should I try next," Nabooru said looking over the drink menu, "The Blue Nightshade mix might go good with my meal, or maybe some of that imported stuff from Fargent that Koleima likes..."
"Lady Nabooru, I think you might have had too much." Halei pointed out.
"I'll tell you when I've had enough!" Nabooru shouted out, then a second later her stomach gurgled and her face paled, "Okay, think I had enough." she admitted as she hurried off to the restroom.
Nabooru let out a sigh as she left a stall in the bathroom, having relieved herself. As she was washing her hands in the fountain she overheard some voices talking nearby in an otherwise unoccupied room down the hall. She peeked in to see it was Link and Impa. Nabooru got to thinking maybe they were flirting, perhaps even to have another child, Nabooru grinned mischievously and crept over to listen in on what they were saying so she could gossip about it to Ruto later.
"Huh, still can't find Sir Knave anywhere, wonder where he went off to?" Link pondered.
"Not sure, I just hope if he knows what's good for him he didn't wander off." Impa muttered, then after second spoke to Link, "Well since we're alone right now, there's something I wanted to talk to you about anyway."
"What's that?"
"I think you should know some more about the situation with Ganondorf. As of right now the Parliament is currently discussing ways to deal with that monster. Naturally the subject of the death penalty has come up, but for some reason the heads of the Parliament have been against it." Impa said, "I'm not sure what their reasoning, is, but it seems like they wish to just keep him in captivity indefinitely."
Nabooru narrowed her eyes at the mention of that, her fingers scraped against the wall she was hiding behind as she listened in.
"Weird, what would they gain from keeping him alive?" Link asked.
"That's what bothers me. I wanted to speak to you about this in private before we consider going over it with our allies. I'm worried about getting them getting involved in this..." Impa spoke, "But there's something else I think we should talk about soon before we meet with them..."
"Oh?"
"Me and the Princess were told something a long time ago, in relation to the vision she had in her dreams of you, and the connection the you, her and Ganondorf had to the Triforce."
Nabooru's eyes widened at hearing about this news, 'What...?'
Link gasped out himself, "H-How did you know about that?"
"Let's just say a certain bird told us." Impa said, "You haven't said anything to Lady Nabooru or the others about it have you?"
"No, I haven't." Link shook his head, "It's something I don't think they're ready to hear..." he looked to the side, "...or maybe never should know..."
Impa nodded, "I see. Well, I won't force you to say anything, it's understandable why you'd be so hesitant."
"Well we still haven't found Knave, but maybe we should get back." Link said.
"Yes, we'll go looking for him after the gathering is over." Impa nodded, "Who knows, maybe it'll do him some good to get laid. It sure did wonders for you." she smirked.
"Heh." Link chuckled sheepishly.
As Link and Impa both left the room, the Sheikah could have sworn she heard something, but went ahead back to the club.
Nabooru was hiding behind another corner, a cold sweat went down her head as she placed her hand against her chest, thinking about something Link once said to her in bed, shortly after he had brought Saria with him back to Gerudo Town,
Flashback
Nabooru was laying on Link's bed of pillows as she was watching him sleep, as she loved the cute face he made.
But as she watched Link, she saw his face turn more worried and grimaced, he started tossing left and right, before he suddenly snapped awake.
"Ugh... that dream again..." Link sighed out, "Just who is that guy?"
"What guy?" Nabooru asked, getting Link's attention.
"I... well... it's kind of hard to explain, I don't really understand it myself." Link sighed, "I keep getting these strange dreams from time to time, and it's always the same; I'm in this strange place, I see a mysterious man who says weird things, then I fall and wake up."
"Can you think of anyone he could be?" Nabooru asked in curiosity, something in the back of her mind bothering her about the way he phrased it.
"No, at least I don't think so." Link pondered.
End Flashback
'It can't be...' Nabooru trembled, 'Why Link of all people? Have they not tormented me enough as it is? He can't possibly be getting those same dreams... the ones that... that...'
Tears started to form in Nabooru's eyes as she thought about a certain man placing his hand on her shoulder, giving her a smile that she could never forget...
'This will be what's best for the world, I'm counting on you... Nabby.'
Nabooru closed her eyes and shook her head, trying desperately to block out those memories. She walked off down the hall back to the club.
"I have to do something... I have to save him, before it's too late..."
Reirousa was slouching over on her table, nibbling at a cucco wing bone from her plate. She was focusing on Link in particular, who was watching Aviel and Nemisa doing an encore performance. She saw the captivated look in Link's eyes as they performed, while at the same time he was whispering things to Ruto that made her giggle.
"Tsk, playboy..." muttered Reirousa.
"Why don't you go sit down by Link as well then?" Saria spoke up, pretty amused at how jealous Reirousa was getting of the zora girl, "I think tonight might really be good night to be honest with him!"
"L-Look, don't rush me okay?" Reirousa scowled, "I just need a good opportunity to do this is all, I just can't say something like that around everyone here!"
"Excuse me, but I couldn't help but overhear what you two were talking about." a waitress said setting down some drinks to Reirousa and Saria, "I might have a simple idea, just slip him a note asking to meet him in a remote location!"
"A note...?" Reirousa pondered.
"Hey, that's a great idea!" Saria said enthusiastically, "With everyone here in the club tonight there won't be any distractions as well!"
"Uh... I guess..." Reirousa muttered, "But how do I slip it to him without anyone seeing it?"
"Leave it to me!" the waitress grinned.
The waitress sat down with Reirousa and Saria and started working on writing the note for Link. When they were satisfied with the contents, the waitress then took the note with her into the kitchen, and later came out with a platter of various appetizers that she brought over to Link.
"There you go our beloved king, have this on the house!" grinned the waitress, "There's even a little extra surprise just for you!"
"Hey, thanks!" Link grinned, feeling perked up from his uncertainty from before, as he started to eat at the food on his plate. The waitress turned to Reirousa and Saria and flashed a thumbs up before going off on her way.
"See? You have a lot more support than you thought!" Saria said reassuringly.
"Yeah... guess I do." Reirousa said with a light smile.
Eventually Link was done with his meal and sat back, feeling rather satisfied with the food. He then glanced down to see there was a note by his plate. He was unsure of it since it wasn't too uncommon for Gerudo girls to try and pass him requests for a one-nighter.
However, when he opened the note to read it he quickly recognized the crude handwriting as that of his muscular friend Reirousa.
"Huh, wonder what she wants...?" Link muttered, coming to the realization she might have worked up the courage to talk to him already. He nodded to himself as he got up and called out the others, "I'm going to step out and get some fresh air."
"Did you want me to join you Link?" asked Saria.
"Nah, I should be fine by myself." Link nodded.
Saria watched as he went ahead and walked out the night club, and she giggled knowingly to herself, believing that by the end of the night there might be one new member of their family.
Link followed the directions in the note, and soon found himself in an alleyway some distance from the club. It was dark and isolated, and while he would had liked to meet Reirousa in a nicer area for her confession, he understood she had no end of trouble with meeting him privately.
He felt a slight sensation in his throat and coughed out a little. He assumed he had a little indigestion from the spicy food and alcohol earlier, but shrugged it off before looking around.
"Reirousa?" Link called out, but didn't get an answer.
After a moment though, he heard a voice call out to him.
"Yo, Link is that you?" he saw the familiar bulky women before him. She was wearing the trenchcoat back from the day she was trying to confess to him, and she was looking away a bit. Link could tell she was still pretty embarrassed about doing this, even if they were finally alone.
"Hey Reirosua." Link grinned, "What's up?"
"I... just had somethin' ta tell you..." Reirousa spoke, though despite how excited Link was about the idea of the hulking woman being honest with him, he felt there was something else off about her...
"Glad to hear that, cause I have something I wanted to tell you as well." Link spoke with a soft smile.
"Just let me say it first!" Reirousa snapped, taking a deep breath, before reaching into her coat and pulled out a small box.
'D-Did she get me an engagement gift?' Link thought to himself, surprised at how forward she was being. He waited in anticipation of what she had to say,
"Just wanted to tell ya... thanks for coming out here, so that you could meet you true destiny."
"Huh? What are you talking about?" Link spoke in confusion.
It was then Reirousa opened the box she was holding, and a strange mist sprayed out from it, covering Link. He gasped out and tried to use his sleeve to hold back the mist, but he had already inhaled a lot of it. Link started to grow dizzy, before he collapsed on the ground.
His last moment of consciousness was looking up at Reirousa, who sported a sinister grin...
"Hey, wake up Gerudo King."
"Huh...?"
"Come on, snap out of it. I have something to show you."
Link's eyes blinked weakly as he saw himself in a slightly darkened room he had never been to before. The only light came from a window that was covered with a ragged cloth and some candles. He realized he was bound in ropes and unable to get up.
He then noticed what was in the center; there was a figure laying on the ground, and squirming around from being bound in place. They were wearing a skimpy silk cloth on their body, but what got his attention the most was the individual was sporting a very round pregnant belly. It took Link a brief moment to try and figure who it was, but as his vision came into focus he recognized them,
"Esolu...?!" Link spoke, recognizing the figure as one of his royal child-bearers.
"Hey, finally awakened huh?" spoke a voice, as Link saw another person walk out from the shadows. He quickly recognized the person by their clothes and armor as a Hyrulian knight, but couldn't quite make out any distinct features of just who they were.
"Wait, Sir Knave? Sir Lackey? Is that one of you?" Link had a hard time recognizing the man, but he narrowed his eyes at him, "Just who the hell are you? What are you doing with Esolu?"
There was silence for a second, as the knight smirked.
"Heh, they were right. So it worked out after all." he spoke, "I won't tell you who I am, but I do work directly for Captain Andreas. After that useless woman knight failed to kill you, they sent me out here to deal with you instead!"
"Is that so?" Link spoke coldly, realizing he was probably talking about the lady knight Ashe, "Look, if you want to settle things with me, than fine. But leave Esolu out of this! She didn't do anything!"
"Oh but she did." chuckled the knight, "I was told that she's your child-bearer. That's no good, the Gerudo Banishment Law forbids a Hylian and a Gerudo from reproducing. So you're both in violation of the law!"
"Like I care about those stupid arbitrary rules, I may be born a Hylian, but I'm a Gerudo now." Link scowled, "Besides that, if anything you're trying to doom the Gerudo with that idiotic law! As the Gerudo king I won't allow it!" he shrugged with the ropes he was tied up in.
"Well either way, I aim to deal with this violation by my own hand." the knight said, unsheathing a sword from his belt and holding it upwards, the moonlight from the window gleamed off the steel blade.
"W-Wait, what are you doing?!" Link shouted, struggling with the ropes, "Stop!"
The knight ignored Link and walked over to the struggling pregnant figure on the ground. He brought up the sword over him with both hands.
"STOP! I BEG YOU!" Link shouted, "PLEASE DON'T-!"
But it was too late, the knight drove his sword down.
Link froze as he watched the knight slowly slid the sword to the side and reach down, pulling something small and lifeless up in his hands. Link stared down at the female on the floor had stopped moving. A large pool of blood was quickly starting to form and pour out close to him.
The young Gerudo King could only stare down at the red liquid. His body was shaking, he couldn't even bring himself to speak at that moment.
The knight calmly went up and undid the rope on Link's arms and legs, freeing him. Link was such in shock that he couldn't even move his limbs to fight the man. The knight leaned down and whispered in his ear.
"If you feel I was in the wrong, come face me. I'll be waiting for you at the bridge on the border that leads to Hyrule. Somehow I doubt you'll refuse."
The knight sunk back into the shadows, leaving Link to stare as the leaking blood started to pool out against his hands. He slowly rose both hands up, covered in blood, before he clenched them.
And in that moment, Link's eyes turned a blank white, as markings started to fade in on his face...
Back in the alleyway where Link had been knocked out, Reirousa was standing around, looking curiously around her. She had gone out to meet with Link and confess her feelings to him, but she couldn't find him anywhere. She had stood around for maybe twenty minutes without him showing up.
"Link?" Reirousa called out, "Huh, wonder where he went? Maybe if he got lost?"
She paused and pulled out a small box, opening it up to reveal a pair of matching brass knuckles she had ordered a while back. They had her and Link's names on them. They cost quite a sum of rupees, but they were important to her, she wanted to give him one while she kept the other as an engagement gift of sorts.
But as she stood there looking around, she sighed and closed the box, before starting to walk off back to the club.
"Or maybe Saria was wrong, maybe he doesn't really think of me that way after all..."
Just then, Reirousa's foot bumped into something, a small box similar looking to what she was carrying her brass knuckles gift in. She gazed down at it in confusion, opening it up and seeing it had some sort of tiny spray bottle inside of it.
"What the hell is this?" Reirousa muttered.
And that ends the chapter. Just when things were going right for Link and his friends, it's taken a massive turn for the worst. What will Link do now, and what will he friends and family do? Find out next week!
Big shout out to all my supporters, only three more chapters until the big 100 too! I honestly couldn't have gotten this far without your support!
