Disclaimer: I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh.
"So… I guess I'm right in thinking that the "Seto" you wrote about is my brother? To an extent, at least?"
"Not upset. Just… I wish this was simpler than this mess."
"No! You don't get to talk to her! She did the right thing and you don't get to yell at her for it!"
"She's okay. She just needs a bit. Come back when she's ready to talk?"
"Sure. Just… no questions, okay?."
Flashes of color before everything turned gray. A soft texture that gave way to something hard but warm and comfortable. And voices, echoes with only one constant, two when I was later taken through bright lights and found myself once again against something, someone that barely spoke, but, when they did, I immediately knew who it was.
"It's okay, Megumi. It's okay."
My brother.
My brother who refused to move when Katsuya came by and tried to talk with him. My brother who held me against him as the blimp was rocked and Mokuba sprinted out while swearing a storm. My brother who eventually fell asleep holding me as I heard a knock and went to answer since I was the only one awake, only to immediately look back when I opened the door and heard a, "Hey." that was almost too familiar at this point.
Yuugi. Unsurprising, but almost upsetting.
Then again, to expect anyone else would have been like expecting cold water to burn. Not going to happen.
"Just checking up on you. No need to talk. Oh! I also wanted to give this back. It was really useful, thank you."
… Just like it was never going to happen that Yuugi would never be kind and trusting.
I smiled, and tried, "How is everyone?"
"… Worried. You took off faster than anyone was able to react to. Well, save for Mokuba."
"Yami?"
"Worried, too. He didn't quite expect your reaction, but I think he understands it."
Before stepping aside and letting him in.
"How about we talk about it then?"
"… You sure?"
"Certain."
Secluding myself served no purpose. We were going to have to deal with this eventually, and while this was probably not the most appropriate time, this would probably be the only time we'd get to put all of this together.
… Absorb and reassess. Mokuba was right. Battle City was over.
And our next fight was going to begin before we could even blink.
