Last chapter ended sad, how will Jane cope? This chapter also includes something that I got inspired while binge watching Rizzoli and Isles.
Maura reached over, looking at a sleeping Jane, placing her hand on her wife's cheek, she seen Jane flinch slightly scrunching up her face. She felt so bad for Jane, last night was rough, she could feel her tossing and turning. Maura hated knowing that her wife was hurting. Her thumb brushed against Jane's lips before she removed her hand.
Maura pushed herself out of bed, she had to finish packing for their trip, it was going to be much needed. She let Jane catch up on some sleep, Jane mentioned she'd take the first shift of driving on their trip. First stop was going to be Niagara Falls.
After an hour Maura was done packing, Jane still looked so peaceful sleeping she didn't want her to be woken up. She went downstairs to make herself some tea. It definitely felt different when the twins weren't here, a sort of good different, like things were how they used to be, that didn't mean Maura didn't miss their smiling faces already. She was reading a newspaper article when she glanced up hearing Jane's footsteps. "Good morning Jane," Maura smiled warmly, sipping at her tea.
"What's good about it?" Jane huffed, sitting down next to her.
Maura's smile fell. "Well, we have the place to ourselves and we get to start our road trip soon. You are still excited to get away right?"
Jane nodded, "More than ever actually. We need this, that much I know. How'd you sleep?"
"I slept as good as you I suppose."
"Like shit," Jane sighed, "Sounds about right. My tossing and turning probably didn't help."
"Not really no, but that's okay I understand why. It was hard for me to sleep with all that's going on in my head. I'm sorry those results didn't turn out like you expected."
Jane shrugged, "When I took the test I was nervous about either option, but just... seeing it was negative. It well... wasn't exactly a good moment..."
Maura reached over to squeeze Jane's hand, "I could see how upset the negative result made you. It's okay to feel that way, we both know you've worked hard because having a baby was what you wanted. Then there's this set back, but we don't have to give up on trying. Preseverance goes a long way."
Jane smiled at Maura's words. "You always know what to say. If there's one thing I don't do, that's give up. I'm a fighter."
"That's right Jane, you're the strongest person I've ever met, I'm so glad that you're forever mine."
Jane leaned over to press her lips against Maura's in a quick kiss, she rested her hand on Maura's thigh. Jane started to pull away when Maura brought her back in, deepening the kiss for a moment, Jane groaned standing up from her stool, and picking Maura up. She pressed her up to the closest surface, smiling as Maura's legs wrapped around her waist, her hands resting on Maura's butt.
They stayed in that position for a few moments before Jane pulled back. Both girls flushed in the faces, panting gently. "We're going to have a great vacation," Jane pressed soft kisses along Maura's jaw.
"Only the best," Maura spoke with a warmth in her voice that Jane loved to hear. "Want to go lay down?"
Jane shook her head, "I like holding you like this," she gave her ass a squeeze, causing Maura to gasp. "I especially like when you make that noise, amongst other ones." Jane smirked, Maura was glad that sad Jane turned playful. "You want to take your shirt off, my hands are kind of full."
Maura nodded, grabbing the bottom of her shirt, pulling it over her head, dropping it to the floor. Jane licked her lips, admiring Maura's naked top half before kissing down her chest slowly, Maura's moans were music to Jane's ears. She loved the way Maura gasped for her when her tongue slowly brushed over her nipple before lowering her mouth, sucking gently, her hips pressing hard against Maura's. "Oh Jane..." she closed her eyes enjoying her wife's tongue and mouth focusing on her breast before switching to the other one. Maura could feel herself twitch between her legs, her whole body felt heated as Jane continued what she was doing for a few more seconds before pulling away, smiling at Maura with such arousal. "I hope that there's more coming Jane," she laughed as Jane just stared at her for a while.
"I just kind of want to admire you. You're so beautiful," Jane lifted a hand up to caress Maura's cheek. "How did I get to marry someone so breathtakingly gorgeous?"
"By being my best friend, loving me in all my odd ways. Showing me how much you love me whenever there's a chance to. Being this strong person who I admire more than anyone else. That's how, making me feel human."
"That's... such a sappy thing to say," Jane looked at Maura in amusement. "I'm glad though, glad I can make you feel like a woman. A very loved woman." She went to place Maura down on the floor.
"You are going to finish what you started right?"
"Holding you kind of worked up an appetite, I mean you could always finish yourself off." Jane nipped at Maura's ear before whispering, "I like watching you finish."
"You are incorrigible Jane," Maura gave her head a shake, before she could do anything there was a knock on the front door. Maura and Jane both frowned, Jane grabbed Maura's shirt from the floor giving it to her to put it on.
"Alright whoever is interrupting us is going to get their ass whooped," Jane muttered, going to open the front door. "Vince Korsak, what are you doing here?"
"Good morning to you too, hope I wasn't interrupting."
Jane rolled her eyes, "I told Maura I'd whoop whoevers ass was interrupting our morning. Be lucky you're old because I'd feel bad for kicking your ass. Even though it's long overdue. So, why are you here?"
"I didn't get a chance to see you and the Doc last night, so figured I'd drop by to get my goodbyes in," he explained.
"Well it was nice seeing you, goodbye now."
"Jane, don't be rude," Maura came up beside her. "Good morning Vince. You weren't interrupting anything, please come in," she tugged Jane by the arm to have her step to the side to let Korsak in. "We're sorry you couldn't make it to dinner last night. What happened at The Dirty Robber that had your attention?" Maura asked as Jane went to the kitchen to make herself something to eat before hangry Jane arrived, letting Maura talk to Vince.
"Pipes burst, there was a lot to clean up. We have to close down today and probably the next day to do repairs. Tommy is supposed to help with that."
"Oh well, that seems to be a huge dilemma," Maura observed the man who looked tired. "Have you gotten any sleep?"
"Some, little Julian kept me up a bit. He was quite the fussy thing last night. May I have some tea?"
Maura nodded, "Of course," she walked into the kitchen, Jane was making her frozen waffles, well they were technically for the kids but it was the fastest thing to make.
"How long do you plan to visit us for?" Jane asked, arms crossed as she waited for the waffles to pop out of the toaster.
"Not long, I'm sure you gals have plenty of things that you'd rather be doing."
"Yes actually, a lot of things," Jane winked at her wife. "You know, you missed an interesting dinner last night. You missed meeting Kent."
"I heard from Angela that he was pretty friendly and a natural with the twins. She suggests to bring him over more often."
"Of course she did. Kent is a very bizarre soul. But he's helpful, so I'll give him that," Jane turned her attention back to her waffles as they popped up from the toaster, putting them on a plate, drowning them in syrup.
"Jane, that's not very good for you, all of that syrup," Maura observed her wife with a frown. "You still want to eat healthy, don't you? Just in case."
"Not right now, right now I want tons of syrup on my waffles," she told her before taking a bite.
Korsak looked at Maura in concern, "I guess things didn't go well?"
Jane looked up at Korsak, "My mother told you I was going to take the test, didn't she? Sometimes I don't know why I talk to her. That's really why you came over, to check up on me. I'm fine, so you don't have to worry."
"Jane, it's okay for Vince to worry, plus you're not fine, it looks like you can practically drink the syrup like it's soup," Maura gave Jane a disapproving look.
"Maura, just let me eat what I want..."
"Uh maybe it's time for me to go," Korsak spoke softly, drinking the rest of his tea. "You girls have a good trip alright? Stay safe the both of you," he was lead to the door by Maura. "I hope Jane's going to be fine."
"Thanks for the concern. She's taking the negative test a little worse off that I expected. I hope this vacation cheers her up."
"I wish you both the best of luck and safe travels," Korsak kissed Maura's cheek. "Bye Jane," he gave her a wave and she just gave him a nod before turning her attention back to her sugary breakfast.
"Thanks for coming over Vince, it was nice to see you and if the twins give you any problems at all, just let me know."
"Will do, farewell Maura," he smiled before leaving the house, closing the door behind him.
Jane finished up with her breakfast putting her plate in the sink, gripping the edge of the counter. "I'm sorry I snapped at you Maura."
"It's okay Jane, you're in pain and I just have your best interest in mind," she rubbed her wife's back.
"It's just..." she sighed.
"I know Jane, I know," Maura sighed before starting to clean the dishes. "Why don't you go sit down, I'll finish these dishes and we can get the car packed."
"Okay," Jane gave Maura a kiss before going to the couch to relax a bit, her hands resting on her stomach. "Baby, if you're in here I really hope you show yourself soon. You know I'll have to wait four to six weeks to get to this point again, I hope you're just being stubborn," she leaned her head back closing her eyes.
Maura couldn't help but listen to Jane talk, she smiled sadly, she too hoped that the baby was just being stubborn and that the test was just a false negative, that's why she would put some tests in her bag, just in case. She decided to let Jane relax as she finished the dishes and went to go pack the car all by herself.
Soon Maura was done and sat down next to Jane on the couch, "Hey, the car is all packed. Ready to go whenever you are."
"You packed the car all by yourself?" Jane opened her eyes, smiling at Maura.
"Yes, figured you should rest as much as you can since you're taking the first shift in driving," Maura handed Jane the keys.
"Of course," Jane stood up grabbing the keys. "It's so nice of you to let me drive. You hardly ever let me when we travel together."
"Yeah, well you offered and this trip it's best to keep rotation. Just don't get tired of driving after the first hour."
"Of course, whatever you say," Jane smirked, grabbing Maura by the arm, as they locked up and left the house. Once they buckled up they started off on their trip to the first planned stop Niagara Falls. A seven hour trip.
Frost was at work, trying to figure something out. He glanced up from his desk and seen Gwen staring. "May I help you Detective?"
"I heard that Kent had dinner with you guys last night."
"Yeah, and your point?"
"How was Frankie doing?"
"Fine, why are you asking about him? If you want to know, just ask him whenever he comes in," Frost shrugged, wondering why she wasn't focusing on work, Crowe was off today so he couldn't tell her to leave Frost alone.
"Do you know when that is? Are you two still close?"
Frost groaned, "Whenever he steps inside the building, you know I don't pay attention to his schedule. And him and I are just fine."
"Okay, that's good that you're both good. Does Tommy mind that you and Frankie are still friends?"
"Are you insinuating something Gwyneth?"
Gwen shrugged, "I just find it odd is all, Tommy being okay with you being friends with your ex, who is his brother."
"Yeah, well it works just fine, now if you don't mind getting back to work," Frost shook his head, looking down at his cell phone once it went off. It was Kent, needing to see him for Frost's current case. Frost got up from him chair and headed downstairs, he looked at Kent is amusement. "You sure Maura doesn't mind you sitting at her desk?"
Kent shrugged, "I'm not looking through her stuff or anything. I don't exactly have an office. Anyways I didn't message you to come down here for small talk. The concrete I had analyzed is made out of recycled items. And you can't do that because it's not sturdy or even much like concrete. If something happens to that Storrow building there is a lot that could be damaged, even endangering people's lives. I think someone needs to go check it out."
Frost nodded, "I'll go to check it out, it is my case after all. Was there anything else for me?"
"No Detective Frost, that's it, unless you want to talk about something else," he smiled.
"There is something. Did you mention to Gwen about having dinner with us last night?"
Kent's smile faltered, "Oh um yeah, but she asked how my evening was, I couldn't exactly lie to her."
"Yeah you could, she cheated on you Kent. She doesn't need to be involved in your life, obviously she doesn't care. Just be careful with what you say to her."
"Of course Frost," he sighed.
"Just want to look out for you, just like I have to look out for Frankie, he's prone to making mistakes just to try and be happy. Not knowing his own worth," he gave a nod turning to leave.
"Hey Frost..." Kent spoke up, causing Frost to look back at him. "Thanks for being concerned."
"You're a good guy Kent, that also means you can be very vulnerable. I used to be like that, but then I finally got my life together, things seem much more simple. You'll get there one day," Frost smiled before going back upstairs.
When he went to grab his keys about to leave to head to the Storrow Center when he ran into Tommy on the way out. Tommy and Todd.
"Hey Barry, ready for lunch?" Tommy greeted Frost with a kiss.
"Uh, I'm sorry Tommy I totally forgot about our lunch plans just us and Todd. I have something I have to go do, case related."
"I told you he'd forget," Todd frowned, Frost squatted down in front of the boy.
"I just got distracted with work. I can still have lunch, but there's something I need to do first," Frost explained.
"Well we could come with you," Tommy looked at his fiancé. "Unless you're going to make an arrest."
"I just have to check out this building, the concrete might be made out of recyclables. You sure you guys won't mind?" Frost rubbed the back of his neck.
"Yeah, we'll be fine, right Todd?"
"Yep, it'll be nice seeing you do Detective work Uncle Frost," Todd smiled and Frost nodded.
"Alright, but be on your best behavior."
"I always am Uncle Frost," Todd beamed.
"Thanks for doing this Barry, I know how much Todd likes spending time with you," Tommy held onto Frost's arm as they walked to Frost's car, helping Todd into the backseat. "You ever want one Barry?"
"Want one what?" he glanced up at Tommy, opening the driver's door.
"A kid, I mean Todd is great and all, but he's always having to go back to Jane and Maura's. It's kind of upsetting sometimes." Tommy frowned and Frost shrugged.
"Maybe we can discuss this later?"
"Yeah of course, just it's something I've been thinking about," Tommy got into the car, as did Frost who reached over to rest his hand on Tommy's giving it a squeeze before he started to drive towards the Storrow Center.
"You'd be a great father Tommy, I know that much."
"That's good to hear, I never thought I could want a kid, but little Todd makes me think differently," Tommy turned around to smile at Todd. "Do you think I'd be a good dad?"
Todd grinned, "You'd be the best. Do you want to adopt me Uncle Tommy?"
"I don't think I could do that Todd, sorry buddy. Plus being a dad is different than being an Uncle. You can have all the fun with me and Barry."
"Okay, I do prefer having fun," Todd leaned back in the chair. "I'd be a pretty good son though."
"You would be indeed," Tommy smiled, leaning his head against the passenger seat. "Your mother wants you to stay with Jane and Maura though. They aren't too bad."
"I guess not."
Frost was driving and just listening Tommy and Todd's conversation. He enjoyed having the younger boy around it also brought a nice side of Tommy that Frost never minded seeing.
After about twenty more minutes Frost pulled up to the garage of the building. "You guys just stay here, I'll be right back," he got out of the car, noticing water leaking down the walls. He took pictures to record what he seen. There were several cracks in the foundation as well, Frost shook his head, continuing a little bit longer until the building developer Sam Nelson came towards him.
"Hey! What do you think you're doing?" he shouted at Frost. "You can't be doing that."
Todd looked at Tommy in the car with a frown, "Someone is yelling at Uncle Frost."
Tommy frowned and nodded, "I'll go help him out little buddy, just stay right here," he got out of the car. "Hey, is there a problem here sir?" Tommy approached the man yelling at Frost.
"Who the hell are you?" Sam Nelson scolded at Tommy.
Frost turned to Tommy. "Tommy, I got a handle on this. You're supposed to stay in the car."
"Todd was concerned and frankly so was I. You shouldn't be yelled at for doing your job, since he can't do his properly," Tommy frowned at the developer. "Let Detective Frost do his work then he'll be on his way."
"Don't tell me what to..." Sam paused his words, hearing something.
"Frost, what was that?" Tommy asked turning to his fiancé, hearing something above them. He turned and Sam Nelson disappeared. "Come on Barry, let's get out of here," he went to grab his arm, about to walk back to the vehicle when a huge piece of cement fell down from the ceiling almost hitting Frost's car.
Todd rolled down the window, and shouted at his uncles. "What's happening!"
Tommy rushed towards the car with Barry when the rest of the floor above collapsed. Debris everywhere.
Frankie went into work deciding to get something to eat at the cafe before starting work. He sighed, seeing Kent up there being talked to by Lydia. "Hey Lydia, Kent, what's up?"
"I'm getting some lunch. Lydia was trying to ask me for dating advice. That right Lydia?" Kent smiled and the blonde girl nodded, blushing.
"Uh yeah, anyways Frankie what can I get for you to eat?"
"Just a smoothie and a sandwich please, I'm going to sit down, mind bringing it to me when you have it ready?"
Lydia nodded, "Anything for you Frankie."
"Yeah sure," Frankie grabbed Kent by the arm pulling him towards a table. "You're not trying to date her, are you?"
Kent chuckled, "Of course not, if you didn't notice she seems to have a fancy with you."
Frankie rolled his eyes, "Not again. I already let her down before. Why do people want me when I don't want them?"
"Maybe you shouldn't be such a charming lad, that seems to get you into unwanted situations. Like Gwen, we plan how we're going to handle her?"
"Don't call me charming and no idea. I haven't seen Gwen yet today, and honestly I don't want to. Has Frost been here?" Frankie asked, as Lydia brought over Frankie's order.
"Here you go Frankie. You look nice today."
"Lydia, what did I tell you before?" he huffed.
Lydia frowned, "You can always change your mind Frankie, just remember that. Kent said it was worth a shot," she gave Kent a light shove before heading back to the counter.
"I swear I didn't know Frankie, I'm sorry."
"Yeah, can we try not to involve Lydia in my life please? Better yet, don't involve yourself in my life at all. So, where's Frost?" Frankie tried to ask again.
"He went to go check something with a case he was working on. Why?"
"Maybe he could be better help with the Gwen situation," Frankie shrugged, taking a bite out of his sandwich. He groaned hearing Gwen call out his name. "What Gwen?"
"I was told to come talk to you about a situation with a building. There's been a collapse..."
"What building?"
"A Sparrow building or something..." she shrugged and Kent frowned, speaking up.
"Do you mean the Storrow Center?"
Gwen paused to think for a moment, "Yes that could be it."
"Frankie that's where Frost had to go to check out the concrete situation," Kent frowned.
"Wait, what?"
"Yeah, that's not a good thing."
"Did you want me to come with you?" Gwen asked and Frankie shook his head, grabbing Kent by the arm.
"I'll take him, come on Kent, let's go," he tugged the man out of the building.
"Are you going to be alright Frankie?" Kent asked and Frankie shook his head.
"Once I know Frost is okay then maybe."
"I'll drive," Kent patted Frankie's back, they got into the car and drove off towards the scene.
Jane got out of the car to stretch her legs, they were at a rest stop. Maura had rather be somewhere she deemed to be cleaner but Jane didn't want to wait longer or else she'd definitely end up having an accident and that's the last thing she needed right now. Maura got out of the car to sit at a picnic table, the weather was really nice over here.
She watched as people walked with their dogs, walking with their children. She sighed everyone looked like they were having a good time. Maura jumped slightly as a dog who got off from its leash ran over to her, jumping on her lap.
She seen a kid rushing over yelling out Scooter. "Sorry ma'am," the boy frowned, he grabbed the dog, scolding him. "Scooter you know you're a bad dog sometimes. You do not jump on strangers," he shook his head and the dog named Scooter whimpered towards Maura.
"Your dog seems very friendly. Sorry he got away from you."
"Thanks ma'am," he placed the dog on the ground walking away. "You stupid mutt."
"What was that all about? You becoming a dog whisperer like Korsak or something?" Jane asked very amused as she sat down at the table with her.
Maura looked at her wife, "The dog seemed very anxious to get away from that kid. Did you hear the thing whimper at me, like he was in some sort of danger."
"I'm sure it'll be fine. Ready to continue? It's your time to drive."
"Yeah, let's go," she grabbed the keys from Jane's hand as they walked back to their car.
Jane rested her head against the back of the seat, leaning back as far as the chair would let her. Jane observed Maura looking out of the window. "Earth to Maura."
"Huh?" Maura asked, looking confused.
"You're not still worried about that dog, are you?"
"His name is Scooter. I find it very odd how he randomly came to me..."
"Hey, it's not any concern of ours, look see, he's happy with the adults. He's in good hands, I promise," Jane rested a hand on Maura's thigh. "If we don't start moving soon I'm going to get real antsy."
"Okay, sorry," she started the car and drove out back onto the highway.
"You're going to be okay, right?" Jane raised a brow and Maura turned on the radio.
"Yeah of course, like you said he's not any concern of ours."
Jane nodded and closed her eyes, "I'm going to take a nap, wake me when we get to our next pit stop."
"Will do Jane. Sweet dreams." Maura focused back on the road, humming to the song on the radio.
"Barry," Tommy groaned, his head was killing him. He realized that his arm was stuck underneath some cement, he didn't have the strength to free his arm, he could hardly feel either of his arms. "Barry, can you hear me?" he tried again and once he got no response he got worried, trying to pull his arm but he suddenly felt a sharp pain run through his arm. "Todd, can you hear me?" he asked with a cough.
"Uncle Tommy..." Todd cried. "I can't feel my leg, there's something on it."
"I'm trying to get to you buddy, hold on. My arm is stuck," he grunted, trying to pull on it. "Just keep talking to me okay?"
"O-Okay. I'm scared Tommy, why won't Uncle Frost respond to you?"
"I-I don't know buddy. I don't know. I'm sorry that this isn't very fun, I'm sorry that I made us come with Barry."
"But then he would be all alone and scared," Todd muttered.
"Yeah, that's true. Jane is going to be so mad when she hears what's going on."
"Can we not tell her, she was excited to get away. I don't want to ruin her trip."
"Maybe you're right, she'd freak out if we hid it from her though."
"But we would do it for a good reason. She needs to be happy."
"Yeah, we'll get out of this, I promise. I hope help is on the way," Tommy grunted, he gave up trying to move his arm. "Todd, I can't come to you, I'm so sorry buddy. Can you move at all?"
"I can't lift the cement off of my leg, it's too heavy."
Tommy took a deep breath, groaning, why wasn't Frost responding, he grunted feeling anger. Anger that the developer couldn't make proper cement, anger that this was happening and there was shit he could do about it. Angry at himself for not being able to get himself out of this to help Todd and try to find Frost.
Meanwhile outside Frankie was standing by an ambulance by the rescue team. "You have to find a way to get in there."
"We're doing the best we can, we have to figure out how to get in there without doing more harm."
Frankie didn't like this answer, he frowned and went back to Kent. "Is there absolutely anything that we can do, Frost is in there and he could be in trouble."
"Luckily I take pictures of things in the lab. If I'm not mistaken I can find the blueprint of the building, the victim had a whole bunch of blueprints of buildings, it has to be somewhere in my paperwork." He scrolled through his private work phone, trying to find anything that could help.
Frankie ran a hand through his hair, why did this have to happen to Frost, things were going so well for him. Frankie huffed he couldn't lose Frost, he just couldn't. It was a good thing he didn't know Tommy was in the building as well. He hated to be the bearer of bad news over the phone, but this was important. He dialed Tommy's phone, his phone rang but then stopped. So he tried again.
Tommy heard a ringing, he didn't know if it was just in his head or if it was his phone. "Todd, do you hear that noise?"
"Uncle Tommy, it's your phone. It's in the car. How do you get service?" Todd seen the light of Tommy's phone.
"I don't know. Can you reach it?"
"I-I think so," Todd groaned, trying to stretch, he could feel the phone with the tips of his fingers. "I-I'm really close Tommy," he sniffled, "I can't. I'm sorry but I can't."
"Hey it's okay buddy. You did the best that you could." Tommy was glad he could talk to Todd, but the longer he went without hearing Frost make a sound the more worried he'd gotten. He just had to be okay.
"Frankie! I found it," Kent looked impressed with his search. "There's this place on the blueprint, an abandoned subway tunnel under P3. The fire department can go through it and reach Frost if he's there."
Frankie nodded, going towards the fire department telling them what Kent learned. They sent a few people in, making sure they were careful. Frankie paced anxiously standing by the Chief who had to radio to keep contact with his rescue crew.
"Hey Frankie," Kent rested his hand on the man's shoulder. "We're closer to getting him. You won't lose Frost I promise."
"We don't even know if he's okay..." Frankie sighed, hearing the radio minutes later.
"We found three bodies up here in the same area. Two are showing movement." Then there was a rumbling sound heard on the radio, "We're going to try and retrieve the bodies before the rest of the building collapses."
"What if it's Frost that's not moving?" Frankie let the panic set in. "I can't handle that, Tommy sure as hell can't handle that. And not to mention Jane, if we lost Frost she'd lose her shit..." he huffed, starting to hyperventilate a bit. Kent looked at him in concern and rested his hand on his shoulders.
"Hey, look at me Frankie, everything is going to be okay."
"You don't know that Kent, how can you possibly know that?" he gave him a shove.
"You have to have faith Frankie, now please calm down."
"You can't tell me to calm down, you hardly know Frost, you don't know how much we've been through. How much I still care for him until this day? How some days I get pissed because he's with my brother. How all my relationships seem to blow up in my face. How when I have a good thing going for me I find a way to mess it up. So don't you tell me to calm..." his words cut off as Kent grabbed onto his face and kissed him.
It ended as quick as it started. Frankie looked at Kent completely dumbstruck. "I-I'm sorry Frankie, you were just... I'm here for you okay."
Frankie frowned, seeing the fire department coming back with three people on gurneys. He rushed over to them, surprised to see Tommy and Todd. "What the hell?" he observed them both covered in blood as they were put into the ambulance. "Tommy, how did you two end up here?"
"Can we talk about this later?" Tommy frowned, feeling pain and Todd looked up at Frankie.
"Don't be mad Uncle Frankie," he groaned out, his leg throbbing. "Can you ride in the ambulance with me?"
"Of course, is Frost okay?"
"They say that he's alive, just unconscious," Todd explained as Frankie got into the ambulance with Todd. Giving Kent one glance, before focusing his attention on the younger boy. "He wouldn't answer to me and Tommy when we called out his name. It was scarier than my leg being squashed. We can't tell Jane and ruin her vacation."
Frankie sighed, "I know that wouldn't be a good idea," he held onto his hand.
The paramedic explained that Todd was going to have to get some stitches and wear a cast while his leg healed, it was fractured in three different places. "I hate needles Uncle Frankie."
"I'll be with you the whole time I promise. You know while you're resting you can probably have all the ice cream you want," Frankie smiled, trying to cheer the kid up, and it seemed to work a little. "We won't tell Jane about that either. At least for a little bit."
"Okay Uncle Frankie," Todd smiled slightly. "Grandma and grandpa are going to be upset. They let me go with Tommy so we could go to lunch with Frost. We tagged along with Frost, and we knew he had to do some work thing, he warned us. But I was upset he forgotten about lunch... so he let us come with him..."
"Hey, it's not your fault buddy okay? These things happen, it was just not good timing for you all to be in that building," he squeezed his hand. "You're such a strong kid, you know that?"
"That's what some people say. Thanks for riding with me Uncle Frankie."
"Of course, squirt," he ruffled his hair slightly. Frankie sighed, at least Todd was sort of in good spirits. Frankie leaned back, his mind swirling about everything that happened, not just Kent kissing him, but how scared he was that Frost could have been dead? How he didn't know if he could handle it, if he could handle Frost not being here anymore. Frost was very important to him, Frankie didn't realize how much he relied on his friendship with Frost.
Quite an eventful chapter, wasn't it? I'd like to thank the season 3 finale which inspired this chapter (one of my favorite episodes). I do think we didn't get much reaction of Frankie dealing with the lost of Frost in the show, so here he deals with thinking about if Frost was gone, because he's very much alive in my story, keeping Frost alive as good as I can. And the Kent kissing Frankie thing was approaching this chapter just didn't know where to include it, hope the placement was fine. I really enjoyed writing the Todd/Tommy/Frost stuff. And our Rizzles road trip has begun. Maura worried about the dog not being with very good owners and Jane's just Jane like 'are you serious' but she finds Maura adorable. Thanks for sticking with this story, even though sometimes when good Rizzles sexy time's about to happen someone steps in to interrupt. Dammit Vince! lol
