I don't own Hetalia okay? I don't have much else for this opening. Anyway, enough of this A/N, on with the fic!

December 25th 1923

(from the diary of Elizabeta Edelstein nee Héderváry)

It was Maria's first Christmas. She's six months old, so while she will not remember this, it was nice to have Katy and Matt over for it. They usually come here for Christmas. Or as Matt said in a very as it is called 'corny', that it's a Christmas tradition. He knows very well that this house was his brother's. Although frankly that joke is starting to get a bit old. I am kind of reminded of how Gilbert was when we were first married. He would have loved this and enjoyed the celebration. Maybe with a little too much to drink if he could get ahold of it. He was more of a beer drinker than some of the stuff you can get though the right channels now, but the point still is made. Frankly we were going to do Christmas where we give Maria her gifts on Christmas Eve just like back in Germany, Austria or even some parts of my old home in Hungary. But I decided to wait until Christmas day to have our festivities like Katy and Matt suggested. And that is honestly more for them. Louise is 3 and Chadwick 2 so they will be more aware of the holiday than Maria. I am proud of how I decorated the tree. Matt said it was very red but that's how I always remember it growing up.

Roddy handled the music and the sweets. I thought the sweater that Katy made for him was very cute and useful even though he thought the music notes were silly, I made him apologize for saying that as Katy is very sensitive. He did admit that it was thoughtful and very warm. That cheered her up. Although I am wondering what will happen if the guys that Roderich is working with actually do perfect movies with music and sound. He told me they said they would open a studio up in Los Angeles and possibly offer him to be the music director. We just bought this house and still are paying on it. Not as much as before the reward money but it seems like a lot. I don't know. But I would be able to see Natalya once in a while. Los Angeles isn't that far from San Diego and from the letter I had received from Natalya, she and the children love it there and Alfred is happy with his job there. That is always so good to hear but leaving Katy and Matt here? And there is something up with Matt. I can tell he's getting worked to death. Katy complains he hardly makes it home in time to have a hot meal with his children and he's said he found her asleep in their living room, curled up in one of her quilts waiting for him. It's so sad. I get to see Roddy's performances and Maria is so well behaved. Even when she is fussy Roddy's violin playing calms her down. It was a very nice day today and really liked what Katy had brought over. I would hate to lose contact with them.

So how was that? Good? Bad? Short? Long? Let me know in a review. I don't quite know how long this one will be just yet as the other I had a more defined plan. But the way it is going this one will be longer than the other. One is over a few years, this a whole decade practically. Anyway, remember to read (well you just did) and to review. Ciao for now,
