Jack brought Kimberly to a cell until the courts decided what to do with her.

Jack: I'll speak to the courts, try and get you leniency.
Kim: Don't bother, I'm not worth it.
Jack: You're my child, I'm not giving up on you.
Kim: You also shot me, can't say I blamed you.
Jack: I'm truley sorry about that.
Kim: I didn't give you much choice. That's the kind of person I was. Not much chance to do good in this cell.
Jack: I can forgive you for what you tried to do to me, but they need to be certain that you don't wish to serve Evil anymore. Syed Ali saved my life, if he's capable of kindness anyone is.
Kim: Yeah, maybe, I'm probably still a long shot.
Jack: Maybe, but we can get through this together.

Jack and Kim spoke for a few hours, when it was over he left her. Jack was soon approached by a young woman named Alex.

Alex: I hear you've gone to Hell, saved some refugees.
Jack: Yes.
Alex: I was hoping you could help some of us.
Jack: You know that the Council has prohibited further rescue efforts.
Alex: I've also heard you don't always follow the letter of the law.
Jack: Anyone specific you want to rescue?
Alex: My father.

Alex told Jack her story, how she was born on a mysterious island, abducted as an infant by Benjamin Linus. Alex had her issues with her father, particularly when he had her boyfriend Karl locked up so that he couldn't get her pregnant. Despite everything, Alex did love her father, they were actually making amends in their world's version of Purgatory. Then the walls came down, and Ben made sure Alex and her mother got to safety, but was unable to get away himself.

Alex: Look, I know my father wasn't perfect, nowhere close to it. But, I can't turn my back on him.
Jack: I understand, I couldn't turn my back on family either.
Alex: So you'll help me?
Jack: I don't know. From what I've heard Benjamin Linus is very manipulative.
Alex: It was his superpower. Frankly the term "prince of lies" applies more to him than to Lucifer.
Jack: So I've heard. I'm not a witch, I can't open a portal.
Alex: We have witches, we just need protection.
Jack: I assume you'll go either way. Okay, I'll be your bodyguard.
