I don't own Hetalia okay? I don't have much else for this opening. Anyway, enough of this A/N, on with the fic!

December 25th 1923

(from the diary of Natalya Jones nee Arlovskaya)

This Christmas was quite different than many of the others I have seen for many reasons. The biggest ones being the absence of Matthew and Katyusha and their children and the second is the warmth. Honestly I cannot complain. The breeze over the ocean is very pleasant. I grew up in a life of cold and wet. And while there are times of wet here, naturally, I am not cold. One thing that Vanya did dream of was somewhere warm and with sunflowers. I think come spring I will plant a few in the front yard. I have not done much gardening when I moved in. I was settling in and the growing season had already begun. I have heard it can be nearly year round around here and I agree it is feasible for it.

And I have to start realizing now that Nikolai is growing up and he is getting older. So is Ivan and Anya. I made the boys share their BB rifles with Anya after they got one each. I honestly did not think Anya would have been interested in shooting or else I would have had Fredka get one for her too. Shame her birthday isn't until November or I would make him get one for her birthday. I swear the twins were tiring before they were born and now they can still be so. Two children of the same age and one of them is a boy and a girl having the same issues and boy issues and girl issues at the same time. Luckily we have enough space to give her and Alexei their own rooms. Nikolai and Ivan are sharing a room and neither one of them seem to mind too much. Which I did not want him clinging to his little sister too much. I want him and his brothers to go off and make a good life together as proper men. I think the sea is calling to Nikolai already. I had known he loved the beach and swimming a lot, but I guess the ocean calls. It's in the blood I guess. One of Fredka's great grandfathers was in the war of 1812 with Oliver Hazzard Perry on Lake Erie and my own linage has a few members of the navy themselves. Nikolai keeps begging our neighbor Raul Perez to tell him about the sea, and he is just a dockworker. Although I have to watch Fredka around Lupe's cooking. I don't know how many of her tamales he had eaten but he likes them a little too much for my liking. I shouldn't be jealous but I am. I have been cooking for that man for nearly 10 years now. He said he loved MY cooking. If not for me he'd be living on nothing but hamburgers and fried potatoes. I shouldn't be too mad at Lupe, as she did not mean offense, was being friendly but it just bothers me.

When Fredka goes to work tomorrow ask him if he sent that telegram he was supposed to have sent a few days ago.

So how was that? Good? Bad? Short? Long? Let me know in a review. I don't quite know how long this one will be just yet as the other I had a more defined plan. But the way it is going this one will be longer than the other. One is over a few years, this a whole decade practically. Anyway, remember to read (well you just did) and to review. Ciao for now,
