Yeah, starting with this chapter I will have the kids calling their parents mom and dad. I decided to do a second all Potters only Potters chapter consisting of a family day. I intentionally made sure the five Potters were the only characters even mentioned in this chapter. Chapter 113 will start to move things forward more.
On Tuesday, July 2nd, 2021, James's, Albus's, and Lily's first full day home from Hogwarts for the summer, Harry and Ginny decided that the family would stay home for the day and take a full day just for themselves. Just the five Potters.
As James, Albus, Lily, Harry, and Ginny sat at the dining room table enjoying a breakfast of pancakes, sausage patties, and orange juice, Harry said "James, Albus, Lily?"
"Yes, dad, " chroused James, Albus, and Lily.
"We're going to stay home today and have a family day, just us five Potters, " said Harry happily.
"Harry and I both want a full family day on your first full day home in ages," added Ginny.
"Thanks, mom, " chroused James, Albus, and Lily.
After breakfast was over, Harry instructed James, Albus, and Lily to follow him and Ginny into the backyard where he and Ginny had set up some family activities.
James, Albus, Lily, Harry, and Ginny all arrived in the backyard to a pleasantly warm eighty five degree day with a blue cloudless sky with plenty of sunshine and a peaceful soft breeze.
"Lovely day, " said Harry contently.
"Totally agree, dad, " said James cheerfully. "Warm weather is so beautiful."
"I'm a warm weather guy myself, " said Albus happily.
"Every season has its own beauty and warm weather is summer's beauty, " said Ginny brightly.
"Totally agree, mom, " said Lily glowingly.
Harry now pointed ahead at five identical frisbees on the ground. These five frisbees were all scarlet with embodied golden lions on them.
"Since all five of us are or were Gryffindors, " explained Harry, "I thought it would be neat if all five of us had Gryffindor themed Frisbees, "
"Cool!" chroused James, Albus, Lily, and Ginny.
"So, " said Harry, picking up the five frisbees and handing one each to James, Albus, Ginny, and Lily, "Let's all throw these frisbees and see who can throw his or hers the farthest."
James, Albus, Lily, Harry, and Ginny all launched their frisbees at the exact same nanosecond. Harry's, James's, Albus's, and Lily's frisbees all went between three hundred twenty and three hundred thirty feet and it was impossible to know which was which.
But, the VERY clear winner was Ginny, whose frisbee had sailed over five hundred feet.
"WOW MOM!" yelled Lily, jumping up and down.
"Mom, that was amazing!" said James excitedly.
"Mom, you were the best, congratulations!" said Albus sincerely
"Since Ginny's throw was clearly the best, " said Harry matter of factly, "Let's use her Frisbee to play a game of frisbee toss to each other and see many catches we can accumulate before one of us drops it."
"Great idea, dad, " chorused James, Albus, and Lily as Ginny nodded and went to retrieve her frisbee.
James, Albus, Lily, Harry, and Ginny all threw the frisbee to each other without thinking about it much.
None of them of them knew how long it went on, but as a family, they managed to acuminate fifty five catches before Ginny dropped what would have been the fifty sixth.
"You can't win them all, " said Ginny with a grin.
"Fifty five is a pretty impressive number though, " said Harry happily, "Each of us will get to keep one of the frisbees. I'd like to fly kites next."
"Nice idea, dad, " said Lily cheerfully.
Harry pointed out a set of bright vivid yellow kites sitting towards the edge of the yard and walked over to retrieve them.
Harry handed one kite each to James, Albus, Lily, and Ginny and each of the five Potters set their kites into flight.
There was no talking as the five Potters contently watched their kites fly. It was a nice quiet moment of family enjoying being together in a peaceful way in a peaceful setting.
This went on until lunchtime when Ginny piped up, "Time for lunch, I'll go retrieve lunch for us from the kitchen while Harry shows you kids to a table. We're eating outside today."
Harry went towards the end of the yard again and this time retrieved a white folding table and five white folding chairs and brought them to the middle of the lawn.
"I thought since we knew it was going to be so nice today that we could eat lunch outside, " said Harry warmly.
"Thanks, dad, " smiled Lily.
"Yeah, nice idea, dad, " added Albus.
"Lovely idea, dad, " said James cheerfully.
Harry set up the table while James, Albus, and Lily set up the chairs around it.
Ginny soon returned with a silver platter with five plates each consisting of large cold cut sandwiches with cold cut ham, chicken, and turkey topped with condiments of mustard, pickles, and lettuce, a couple of carrot sticks, a couple of crackers and a glass of lemonade each.
Ginny set one plate down each by Harry, James, Albus, and Lily while serving the last plate to herself.
The five Potters sat down to a nice family lunch outside and lunch passed with generic chitchat between the five Potters about whatever topic might come up, including what they had done that morning.
"Flying those kites was really enjoyable, " piped up James happily.
"Totally agree, " added Albus, "A nice peaceful activity in nice calm warm weather."
"True, the kite flying was nice, " said Lily radiantly, "But the best part of all this is spending the day together as a family."
"That's exactly what Ginny and I wanted, " said Harry warmly, "And Ginny, great job making our sandwiches. They were fantastic."
"Fantastic work, mom, " agreed James, Albus, and Lily.
After lunch, Ginny took the dirty dishes back inside and returned to the backyard carrying five skateboards. These skateboards were scarlet in color and the names James, Albus, Lily, Harry, and Ginny painted onto them in gold lettering.
Ginny handed out the skateboards according to the names on them and at first they all just rode their skateboards. After a while, however, James and Lily started to get a little bored and started to do some tricks. Harry, Albus, and Ginny didn't want to attempt any tricks and just kept riding.
James pulled off a perfect loop the loop while Lily pulled off a perfect figure eight and both James and Lily landed perfectly.
"Awesome, James!" declared Harry.
"Thanks, dad, " beamed James.
"Wonderful, Lily, " cried Ginny.
"Thanks, mom, " said Lily glowingly.
A bit later, everything was put away.
James, Albus, Lily, Harry, and Ginny spent the rest of the afternoon just quietly walking around the backyard casually talking and enjoying both the beautiful weather and each other's company.
It was a beautiful family day.
