Napoleon the third was next on the historical, military heroes and important people of France to look at, and by the looks of it, The second Napoleon's cousin was far more successful than Napoleon the second. He reigned far longer than his two family members that ruled the country before. Not only that, but he was also the first ever president of France, according to his history.
Mason was the first one to speak and he said: "Louis-Napoleon wanted to finish what the first Napoleon started. Building French influence around Europe and the World again. This time, it was a bigger area than it was."
"That's right." said Sebastien. "Here, I can show you the map of how big the Second French empire was in those days." he pulled out his phone and showed the heroes how big Napoleon the third's empire was. The kids were quite impressed by how it looked.
"Wow, they even occupied Mexico?"
"A small territory, yes." said Sebastien. "Then Mexico won. But their greatest expansions were in Africa many years later."
Lincoln remembered that in the language lesson before he and everyone else came here to France in the first place. "Right. I remember that. I guess if we go to Africa, then it can be useful."
"In the French-speaking countries I am showing you here, yes." said Mason
"Of course, Arabic and English are useful for if we go over there as well." Sebastien pointed. "But of course, if any of you want to go to many African places like Algeria, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Kenya, Zambia, you name them, just talk to your parents and and my finest pilot can get you there as fast as he can."
Everyone cheered to themselves at traveling to other places in the world outside of their own home. Alas, doing that might take a little bit of time, and a little bit of planning. One good thing was that they wouldn't probably have to pay for very expensive plane tickets to go into other nations of the planet. That was one of the many downsides of traveling to other countries: the prices of the tickets, and how exhausting it can be (depending on if the planes make a few stops to other countries of course.)
"Napoleon the third has had campaigns before." Sebastien continued. The Second French Empire had a good run, but zen came ze Franco-Prussian war."
"Prussian?" asked Sam
"Oui. It's what a portion of Germany is today." said Sebastien. "Germany wasn't even called Germany back then. It was made up of small territories of their own. Prussia, Westphalia, Saxony, and even Austria, and northern Poland was part of the North German Confederation."
"Nice." said Luna. "Sounds like Germany is younger than France and the United Kingdom
"That they are." said Jesse. "That explains that map in Mrs. Cassy's class when looking at Napoleon the first' empire. I couldn't find Germany in sight. Guess that explains it."
"Was the third Napoleon defeated too?" Lincoln asked curiously
"That he was." said Sebastien. "This ended France' second empire and Napoleon the third was exiled to London, where he died in 1873."
"Really?" said Luna, sounding interested.
The tour continued on and everyone sees a lot of other military leaders buried in this sacred French palace. At last, when everyone was done in Les Invalides, it was surely a day to remember for them. Suddenly, a large group of soldiers that looked like some kind of riot control police came into the old building, and the majority of them had MP5 smgs in their hands, and their faces were almost covered by masks, except for their eyes. They were marching towards the heroes in a straight line like in a military training camp, and they looked rather intimidating. One other thing everyone noticed was that they had a diverse kind of weaponry. Some of them had an FM 24/29 or Chatellerault light machine guns in their hands, a few with Remington 870 shotguns with scope attached, and a few of them had large revolvers as well.
Luna, Lincoln, Sam, Jesse, Mason, and Sebastien looked a little uneasy. "Uhh, who are those guys?" asked Luna
"Those are the Group d'intervention de la Gendarmerie National. Or GIGN for short." said Sebastien. "One of the greatest police forces and anti-terrorist soldiers in ze world."
"Don't worry, let's just see what they want." said Mason
"I hope they are not here to arrest us or anything." Sam looked a little nervous.
"Hopefully not." Jesse agreed.
"They look tough." said Lincoln.
"Ils Sont la (There they are)!" said one of those soldiers.
"Le tenir! (Hold it!)" said another after stopping in front of the group. They weren't pointing their guns at them, but they still looked intimidating.
"OK, can someone tell me what's going on?"
"I can answer zat." said a French voice in English. The soldiers lined up in front of one another in a single file, then in-between them was a slender man with brown hair and looked like a politician of some kind. "Bonjour. Bienvenue en France." said the slim man. "My apologies if my men had scared you."
"And who are you, sir?" asked Luna.
"Forgive me. Where are my manners? Je m'appelle Emmanuel Macron. Ze president of France."
Every one of the Americans, along with the scientist Sebastien, were surprised to be met with the president of France himself coming to meet them all personally. They most certainly did not expect this kind of honor to be bestowed on them. "Well, Enchante, monsieur president." Luna said with a smile.
"Merci. I couldn't agree more." said Macron. "It caught me a little bit by surprise when you came here to France. I give you all welcome to one of ze greatest countries on this Earth."
"Merci beaucoup. Je m'appelle-"
"Lincoln Loud. Je sais." Emmanuel smiled. "And you are Luna Frost, Electrifier, Meteor, and Color Fire. I have heard so many good things about you and your accomplishments as superheroes."
"You have heard of us, monsieur?" asked Jesse.
"Of course! What really gave word was Luna and Lincoln exposing the evil Wericke industries for what zey really are. Nothing but evil, corrupt, corporate paranoics that only care about money and themselves. As a matter of fact," Macron explained, "we have shut down all Wernicke buildings and plans all over France in response to when we heard of the horrible experimentations."
"Yeah, they are just pure evil." Luna said. "We exposed the truth of what they really were."
"Oui. I could not agree with you more, mademoiselle Luna. You have accomplished remarkable things with tes amis here. Although... where is the Steel Soldier?"
"He's back home in America." Sam replied. "He wanted to make sure everything was safe while we're in Paris, mister president."
"Oh. That sounds like a good idea. Someone to man the fort if a majority of the guard patrols will not be around for a while." Emmanuel said.
"And he's already been here more times than we can count, monsieur president." Mason added.
"I see. Well, I also came here to that there is a little bit of a problem going around in Paris." the president looked more serious than ever. "There is a very dangerous organisation called Les-"
"Loups Enrages?" said all the heroes in unison.
Macron looked a little surprised to hear the response. "Oui! That is right. How did you all know?"
"We had a run-in with those turds before we came inside Les Invalides." Luna explained. "They were robbing Sebastien's friends' family of their money and cool paintings."
"We don't know who is in charge of all this." Lincoln admitted, "but we're trying to look into that, monsieur president."
"C'est magnifique!" said Emmanuel Macron.
"But we also came here to do a little traveling fun and go on a little vacation." Mason said.
"Oh, I know. I am certainly not trying to keep you all from having fun in Paris. No. But France could use your help in taking down Les Loups Enrages. It will help all of us a really good deal. Me, the people, and Frances' way of life. They have been causing trouble for at least a month now."
"Gotcha." said Jesse. "We'll let you know if we know anything about those turds."
The French president smiled again, and said: "Parfait! Now, i am going to assign a small number of the GIGN to help you all out as your own bodyguards."
"Well, merci, but we don't really need bodyguards." said Mason. "We have superpowers."
"True, but you will never know when a Loup Enrage will come out and try to kill you. Zees adversaries can blend in with the populace of France really well. The know how to keep their mouths shut and keep their secrets. These troops I am lending you will give you some extra protection just in case." Five Men appeared from behind Macron in their GIGN uniforms, but with Malhurin revolvers in their hands.
"Bonjour." said the four troops.
"I give you all Sabre, Leclerc, Paton, Adewale, et Chevalier." Macron introduced the gang to these tough soldiers. "So tell me, where are you going next?"
"I was going to take these kids to the Pantheon." Sebastien replied
"Ooh. Well, I better be going know. And as I said; keep me updated for any suspicious activity or any more attacks from Les Loups Enrages if you notice anything. "Once again, welcome to France. Au revoir." then he and the soldiers left the place and walked down a few streets while the five GIGN troops stayed with the heroes for protection as their personal bodyguards.
