Chapter 114th
After Shannon watched the reporter leave her hospital room. She was finally glad that she was able to take in a deep breath to relax. She was glad in a way that she was taking this chance to save her life with the phrase four breast cancer.
After hearing so much about the Cell Regeneration Program from her first husband and the doctors. When she had first found out about cancer she was devasted for the most part. She had never believed she was going to die like this. However, thinking back 34 years back she was always sorry that her body double taking her place in the car with the young girl as Kelly in that crash having killed NIS Curt Mitchell.
She wasn't able to even say a word to Leroy Jethro Gibbs at the base before being whisked off by a helicopter after spending an hour at their house. Kelly was crying when the helicopter had taken off to head for overseas to the Italy safe house and compound near the village.
The first few weeks were hard trying to adjust to the changes living under the roof of the Witness Protection rules. She had heard that her husband Leroy Jethro Gibbs tried to shoot himself after the deaths of them at home. However, he was able to control himself and begin to live the best he could.
Here she is now at this point in a situation with a possible death depending on whether the program will be able to destroy the cancerous cells in her breasts and bone marrow.
Sitting up in bed she heard someone knock on her door. When Gibbs and Loreile had walked in handing Shannon flowers and a card from the gift shop.
"Jesus! They are beautiful Loreile. Their lilies are they not?" she asked with the question.
"Yeah, they are Shannon. By the way, how did the interview go with the reporter?" Loreile asked Gibbs placing them into the vase with the water from the bathroom.
"Here you go Shannon you're all set?" he said with his silence for which Shannon noticed.
"The interview was great everyone. The first report will be on tonight at seven on channel 7th. It's going to be an ongoing story in a report to what I am going through with the Cell Regeneration Program." she had taken a deep breath.
"Believe me you need to think positive. When I had heard what was going on with me and the program. At the time I was basically recovering from all of the damage that was done to my body. I had woken up to the face of my beautiful wife as with one Lt. Loreile Ann Baskins. Listen I am going to say something that I need to get off my chest."
"What's that Jethro?" Loreile needed to say since she was pissed off at her husband.
"Shannon I must tell you that I love my wife Loreile a great deal. I did something earlier that had gotten me into trouble and I am truly sorry about it. I said your name while we were making love earlier and Loreile didn't take too kindly to it Shannon. And for this I am really sorry?" he cried out with his response.
"I forgive you, Jethro." she had to say to her husband.
"Believe Jethro I had done this myself years ago when Alex and I were first together and I had mentioned your name while we were making love on the beach. I had to make that apology quick and I promised him that I won't ever do it again. And I suggest Jethro that you don't as well or else Loreile is going to divorce you right quick?" she was playing with him this time.
"BELIEVE ME I KNOW SHANNON." HE SAID. He pulled up a chair for his wife and himself. "Let's change the subject to what is going on with all of the tests?"
"From what I understand most or all of the tests are cleared especially with my heart. Otherwise, I have no idea what is going on with the cat-scan or MRI with the breast cancer on whether or not it's spread further," she says with a deep breath.
"If there was a problem Shannon. No doubt all of the doctors would have said something right away." Loreile responded.
"Nevertheless this is nerve-racking." she needed to say on the subject. However at this particular time, there was a knock on the door with Doctor Taft, Rolaids, Gilbert, and Richardson walked in with her medical file. "Doctors I do hope you have good news for me?"
"We do Shannon and I will say that your cancer has not spread in the breasts or the bone morrow. You're going to be an excellent candidate for the program starting in two days." Doctor Suzanne Richardson had to say to have everyone in the room thrilled and relieved at the same time.
"Thank god! What about all of the blood tests?" she needed to ask with the importance of the question.
"We will be using a great deal of your blood for the procedure. As to why we needed to be sure of the blood type in order to use the program for both the breast cancer and your legs with the bone marrow." Doctor Gilbert had to say this time to their patient.
"And when is this procedure going to be?" shifting in her hospital bed.
"We will be taking you down around eight o'clock in the morning." Doctor Rolaids said to have everyone relaxing with nothing else to discuss for the moment besides the paperwork for later, anesthesia.
"Why the off-day tomorrow doctors?" she had to ask.
"To give you time to rest for the most part." Doctor Cyril Taft says. "And to set up the operating room with the team to go over the equipment that will be used for the program."
"Is there anything else I should know about?" Shannon requested.
"Nothing but to relax for now Shannon until it's time to take you down to the operating room." Doctor Richardson will comment with them to be leaving the hospital room to let her enjoy her friends for now.
