Chapter 114

Jack Bauer led his group to the terrorist compound. Willow and Felicity stayed behind to disable the enemy computer and security systems. Presumably their walkies would still work, but at least they wouldn't know their positions. They were under orders to use non-lethal force only. Any american deaths would be used for anti-alien propoganda. This frustrated Jack and Vic, but Jack had been i this situation before. When taking a high value target with intel, he had occasionally been under orders not to use lethal force in even in self-defense. It was frustrating, but he understood the neccessity. Jack, Vic, Oliver and Buffy disabled the guards, and disarmed their weapons. The attack happenned just before dawn, when the guards were likely at the end of their shifts, most likely tired, and, the rising sun would have a bad effect on their eyes. They had to be both covert and fast, or they feared the terrorists would panic and kill Marissa. What John Smith might do at that point was anyone's guess. But in the end, the good guys were successful, Jack and Vic reached Marissa's room. Marissa was tied to a chair, it was clear she had been beated more than once. She was afraid of these intruders, she didn't know if these new people were here to rescue her or take her to an even worse place. Jack then quickly grabbed her, and Vic Mackey. Before either could ask why, Jack activated his potion. Jack couldn't begin to understand the particulars of magick, but Willow told him to just drop this potion, and everyone from his team would be transported back to Antarctica. This included Marissa and Vic Mackey.

Marissa: Who are you people?
Jack: We're the good guys. You're safe now.
Marissa: Thank you. They said they were using me to control my great-grandfather.
Jack: We know. We can return you to your family, or you can stay here in Antarctica. It's your choice, but we need you to let John Smith know that you're safe.
Marissa: Ofcourse, thank you.
Vic: I'd like to return to America.
Jack: That's not going to happen. In fact, you're under arrest.
Vic: For what?
Jack: For violating the peace treaty between America and Antarctica. Under the terms of this treaty, we're reuired to arrest and detain aliens who commit violent acts in America.
Vic: You bastard, I helped you, helped save this girl.
Jack: All of which will be taken into account, but we're not letting you roam free.

Vic and Jack then got into a fight. The security guards quickly arrived, but decided to let these two fight it out. It was long and brutal, each man lost a few teeth. But in the end Jack Bauer was victorious, and dragged Vic Mackey to his cell.
