I had worked quickly to ensure that the entire Weasley family were safely removed from their homes before the Death Eaters could get to them. It was a close call with Fred and George, having gone to collect them personally and just a mere moment before we'd disapparated, a bombardment of spells had rained down against the barriers of their apartment above their shop. "I think your premises are about to be ransacked." I told them sadly, but they just grinned and assured me they could always start again. We vanished, and I brought them to Molly and Arthur, their mother sobbing as she clung to them before she then latched herself onto me, thanking me for keeping her family safe though I tried to tell her it had very little to do with me at all.
Ginny was glad to see me again, hugging me too and I stayed with them for the first night, sleeping in the same bed with her as I told her as much as I could about Harry and the others, assuring her that they were fine and that Harry missed her a lot. He'd long since added all the memories of her he had into his pensieve so that he could watch his memories of them being together with perfect clarity, and the news made her smile happily and miss him all the more. I couldn't stay with them long, leaving with a promise to visit as often as I could. The house they were now situated in was new and large, and it also housed my mother and Leo. It was one of the many to which I was Secret Keeper, so I was reassured of their safety.
April gave way to a great deal of struggles, as in a fit of rage at losing Harry once more, Voldemort seemed to be throwing himself into the sport of wreaking havoc and fear across the country. The Order were stretched thin, trying to respond to emergency summons every which way, as well as trying to protect, save and rescue as many victims as possible, both wizard-kind and muggles alike. Cedric and I were often thrown together, as his skills as a Healer made him perfect to deal with injuries on sight as he was a quick study and clearly very adept at the practice whilst I fought off the worst of them, Death Eaters and Ministry workers, keeping him and everyone else safe. There had been several close calls, and one time we were almost killed by an explosion but I was able to protect us both from the flames and the rubble, though we were pinned down until it was all over.
Dad thought I had died, screaming for me all the while whilst Uncle Remus had to hold him back from diving straight into the flames until Cedric and I were able to break free, hand in hand we ran out of the flames as I whipped them aside then jumped from the top of the building to freefall to the ground. Almost every wand below rose to save us, slowing our descent until our feet touched the ground, but there was no time for reunions, we were forced to flee, being unable to do anything more. My time being so filled up, I was unable to dedicate myself to helping Harry and the others, which meant that they had to orchestrate their plan by themselves, but I promised I would be on hand if they needed me, and I'd be there to rescue them again if necessary, but it would be a great deal more difficult to break into Gringotts on my own. I'd probably have to fight my way through.
The only silver lining to the entire month of April was the birth of Tonks and Remus's son, Teddy Lupin, named after his grandfather who unfortunately had been killed by snatchers. I was lucky to have been around when the labour started, and I'd thrown myself into helping deliver the child with Andromeda, Tonks's mother, as well as the wiry haired midwife witch. It was a long night, but once the baby was delivered and washed, wrapped up and placed into his mother's arms, I'd burst into tears and collapsed for the sheer weight of joy I felt to have witnessed the birth of a new life.
I don't know who cried most, there were a great many tears all round, and when Remus held his son for the first time, a light seemed to bloom within him that I had never seen shine so brilliantly. Dad smiled knowingly, leaning down to whisper to me. "That's exactly what I looked like when I held you for the first time."
"You soft-touch." I teased him lightly, but smiled happily as I leaned against him. Tonks was exhausted, but her bright pink hair was as vibrant as ever, and as the happy parents crooned over their child, I nudged my dad in order to suggest quietly that we left them to admire their son in peace. We were about to leave when Remus called me back, having lifted Teddy up and was now carrying him over to me. Before I knew it, the baby was in my arms and I was squeaking fearfully, desperately trying to hold him as carefully as possible without clutching onto him too tightly, but not so loose as to drop him as the precious bundle filled my arms.
"Mia, Dora and I would like you to be godmother." Remus said to me simply, and at first I was certain I had misheard him, my jaw going slack. "And we're going to ask Harry to be godfather. Please, say you will. You've been so good to us, and forced me to open my eyes to a great many things, shown me that I am more than just a werewolf. If anyone were to watch over our son should anything happen to us, I would want no one else other than you and Harry to be there for him. Will you accept? Will you Mia?"
"Uncle Rem I…I…are you sure? Are you sure you want me? Tonks?" I looked between them both and Tonks gave me a breathless smile, still recovering but assuring me that she and Remus had discussed it at length, and she also felt that there was no one better to be godmother than me. Then I started crying again, and talking became impossible so I just nodded my head ardently as I shifted Teddy up closer to me in order to give him a delicate hug, resting my cheek against his little head. Godmother. I couldn't believe it. I was godmother to my own godfather's son. It felt like we were even more closely bonded as family, like Remus was determined not to let any of us go.
Dad clapped him on the back then embraced him, congratulating him before then giving my shoulder a squeeze as I carefully returned Teddy back to his father, who then carried him over to Tonks. There was a large celebration that night in the Tonks residence, welcoming the new addition to the family with drinks and laughter, everyone admiring him as he slept, cradled in his mother's arms whilst the dark black hair started to grow lighter, turning ginger which made Remus laugh and declare that he was just like his mother, though Tonks seemed certain that Teddy looked just like his father. "He's all squishy and pink, he doesn't look like anyone yet." I said, poking him gently in a large, rounded cheek as he squirmed, confused by all the noise. "But I bet he'll be a handful, I can just tell. Teddy, you and I are going to have a lot of fun getting into such mischief. Your parents will probably banish me from the house from driving them mad."
Remus left in order to spread the news, going to the cottage in order to see Harry and ask him to be godfather, whilst the rest of us continued our celebrations. There had been such little cause for happiness and cheer these past few months, that Teddy Remus Lupin was a dearly welcome sight. Even Moody cracked a small smile when he stopped by to drop in a report, peering at the boy with his magical eye before grunting. Remus had never been happier, walking around with a spring in his step and smiling everywhere he went, which was something that brought me a great deal of joy to know that he had finally found his true happiness and place in this world. After all, family is family.
