Chapter 137

.

John Brown knew his followers were dedicated, but they were likely heavily outnumbered. Magneto could help them win this war, but John wasn't entirely certain that he wouldn't prefer to ally with Lenin and/or D'Hoffryn. John's forces hadn't officially broken off from Lenin's group yet, but both groups felt that was coming. John agreed to a meeting with Lenin and D'Hoffryn's representative, a woman named Lynette.

.

Lenin: Thank you both for this meeting.

John: Before we start, Lynette, why are you here in Hell?

Lynette: When I was alive, I discovered that my husband was cheating on me. I was enraged, I brought a gun to the grocery store, where, he worked as a department manager. He fled, I panicked and took hostages.

John: I supposse that explains why a vengeance demon took an interest in you. What happenned then?

Lynette: I panicked more, shot a teenage girl. She survived, but the police stormed the building and shot me, I died before I ever reached the hospital. I got to this Hell, ended up working for D'Hoffryn. He can help you get your friends out of the torture chamber. Otherwise you'll just lose soldiers in battle.

John: You're not wrong, but what does D'Hoffryn expect from me in return?

Lynette: For now, nothing. But make no mistake, you will owe him.

John: And I have no doubt he will come to collect.

Lenin: We send these refugees to Antarctica, they would owe us. Perhaps arrangements can be made to repay the debt in that way.

Lynette: Perhaps. And Magneto could help you defeat the nazies and confederates. It would be to D'Hoffryn's advantage to have allies in power. Should I tell my boss he should move towards the release of Magneto and these other refugees?

John: I know I'll regret it, but yes. I will be in D'Hoffryn's debt to free these people.
