A/N: Please read and review!
In the days following that one discovery with the obelisk, I was pretty busy with figuring out who could've been that mysterious Inhuman who could have been anyone and anywhere. That was easier said than done. The lists of lineages and bloodlines could not help at that point. Those were only the known lineages and bloodlines.
It was all a mystery. Too much of a mystery for my liking.
I was walking home from work when a woman wearing a hooded, black sweatshirt had appeared, and a hand covered in thorns reached out to grab my wrist to pull me closer to her as she walked me out of the way of the open and crowds of people.
"I need to speak to you," the voice of the Girl in the Flower Dress had said to me. "My grandmother spoke of your family with awe and respect. Your family was able to help many of our kind during painful and difficult transitions."
"That was from personal experience," I told her, remembering the pain from my own experience of Terragenesis that came from feeling like I was completely on fire. It was the main reason why pain doesn't really seem to bother me or my family all that much.
"What do you want, Raina?" I asked her.
She removed the hood she had covered her face with, and I could see that she was covered in spikes. She, unfortunately, was one of the people who had been cursed with the altered appearance that Terragenesis would have caused upon transition. "I'm a monster. I want this all gone."
"No," I told her. The people of my community , if their appearance had been deeply altered by Terragenesis, were uncomfortable and not horrified by that kind of change. The right kind of community would make that possible. "You're not a monster. Not even close."
"Look at me."
"It's a part of who you are," I said to her. "That's not being a monster. We're all Gifted in our own ways. You just need to find your purpose. It's always better if you figure out your own purpose."
"We don't know about that," she said to me. "That's not something we ever cared about that . . ."
"It is," I said to her. "There's a reason why you had that particular change. Once you find out the why, you would accept yourself."
"That would never happen," Raina had said to me, quickly covering herself again as we started to walk again.
We passed a palace that was selling flowers, and I walked over to some roses to pick one up to show her the flower.
"Roses are considered by many to be a very beautiful flower," I said to her, earning an annoyed eye roll from her. "And, the only way to protect it are the thorns."
Raina took the flower, and she was pretty thoughtful as she looked at it. "Many in my case . . . not a rose, but a Daisy."
Raina's final words were pretty crypti, and even I found that to be pretty difficult to even figure out what she had meant by any of that. I could not figure out what she could even mean, so I had to believe that she had to accept what I had said to her about her transformation because that was the only thing that would make sense.
There was another night when Raina pulled me aside, but she was not alone. Skye was with her, and for once, Skye looked to be uncomfortable about her surroundings.
"I'm not sure," Skye said to Raina. "Too many people are around here. They could really get hurt . . ."
"Let her help you," she said to Skye. "She knows what she's doing."
"I went through a similar situation as you," I said to her. "A transformation that's unexpected and devastating." I was making that one up as I went. "It's how me and my family can control fire."
That caught Skye's interest.
"I thought you were a mutant," she said to me. "Everyone said you were . . . your whole family was . . ."
"We wanted everyone to believe that," I said to her. "A promise we made to protect others/ Misleading the general public as we were out in the open. We're Inhumans, and we believe in helping others learn how to use their own Gifts."
"I can destroy whole cities," Skye told me. "Earthquakes. I wouldn't exactly call that a Gift."
"No one would've learned how to walk on their first try," I told her. "All it takes is extreme patience and practice. And, it can be done."
"You sure about that?" Skye asked me.
"It can be done," I told her. "I'll help you learn how to control your powers, Skye. That's what we do to help you live."
"I'll do it," Skye said to me. "Thank you." She paused for a moment. "I met my father . . . before the change. Turns out my real name is Daisy."
I gave her a small smile. I made eye contact with Raina from beyond her shoulder. That explained what she had meant earlier. "Then, I would like to help you, Daisy."
