Simba and Nala noticed their two children napping together in the cave of Pride Rock, and thought of how nice and adorable that looked. it was a good thing the parents decided not to wake them up, for it looked like they did not want to wake up at all right now. Both the king and queen walked away so that their kids wouldn't be disturbed right now, and it was just then Kovu noticed this, and thought of how beautiful his mate was asleep. Since Kiara was his wife, the future king laid next to her for some extra warmth and give her some extra love.
In his dreams, Kion was in a land that looked similar to the Pride Lands, but it looked more beautiful and with the sky more blue than it was, and the sun shining high at the very top like the end of a tall pyramid.
These kinds of Pride Lands were very beautiful to look at and he wished that the Pride Lands were as beautiful as this version. It looked like the Pride Lands that any animal could imagine possible, not even the rulers of these very lands. Suddenly, a nice, shining bright light appeared next to him on the left, and it revealed to be a very peculiar lion that Kion knew too well. "Hello Kion." said Mufasa
"Grandfather?"
"Yes."
What Kion realized that: Mufasa wasn't see-through or didn't look like a ghost at all. As a matter of fact, he looked very much alive as if he never died at all. At first, the cub was startled, but he was really glad to see his grandfather looking like this. It almost made him forget that it was even a dream in the first place. It gave him a very comforting and warm presence.
Mufasa was a very wise and compassionate lion and he knew best and what was going on. "Wow. You look so... so..."
"Alive?" the king asked
"Yeah, it's not like you're a ghost at all."
"True. But remember, this is the dreamworld."
"Oh. Right. this is just a dream."
"But, it is really I." Mufasa reassured him. "I have to say that I am really proud of you, my grandson." he gave the cub a gentle pat on the head. "Once again, you have accomplished something that only any cub can dream of."
"Well, i'm still a little... shaken from Inuwa and all he's done to my friends and family."
Mufasa gave him a sympathetic frown. "I know, Kion. I know that you have been through so much. Always remember that it will all heal in time. It just requires a little patience. I know you, and you are the strongest cub i know, along with your father."
"But I go with the rules while dad liked to get into trouble." Kion said.
Mufasa let out a chuckle and said: "Yes. I concur. That is your father for you. He is who he is, and he outgrew all of that. Although, he can still have a rather... mischievous streak if you are not careful. Between you and me, he plays a few practical jokes on your mother every now and again." It confused the cub a little bit, and he wondered what kind of pranks the great King Simba would do to cause a little fun every now and again. "But, let us have a walk."
Kion smiled before saying, "Okay, that sounds fun." as the two regal lions walked down many parts of the savanna, and the birds were chirping in the distance. "So have you and my dad one this before? Go on walks in the Pride Lands."
"Absolutely." the deceased king replied boldly. "I would boldly show him how to rule over the kingdom when he was your age and I saved him from a few dangers."
"Dangers, grandfather?"
"Yes. hippos, crocodiles, and other dangerous predators or animals that live in the Pride Lands. Including the time he almost got killed by that trio of hyenas."
"Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed?"
"Yes. Those are the ones. I was only doing my role as a father and protecting how the Circle of Life works. Nothing personal, the hyenas just needed to stay in the Outlands or anywhere out of the Pride lands so that it wouldn't disturb the Circle of Life. I'm sure that your father told you of the outcome."
"You mean when Scar was the king and let the hyenas live here? Yeah. No food, no water, no animals to hunt. Dad said it turned into nothing but a wasteland when Scar ruled over."
"Exactly. But, I partially blame it upon myself." the king and cub stopped and Mufasa bowed is head in slight guilt. "I let my guard down and I should have seen my own death. I could have stopped my brother. I could have prevented it from happening." Kion gave his grandfather a sympathetic look and gently placed his right foot on Mufasa's left front paw, which easily was bigger then the cubs'. " I was blind and I never sensed any danger. I mean, sure, I had a sneaking suspicion for Scar, but I never thought he would just... you know."
"Come on, grandfather." the cub said. "It wasn't your fault. No one saw it coming. If it's anyones' fault, it's Scar. he was sneaky and he you have every right to hate him."
"Hate him?" Mufasa raised his right eyebrow. "No, no, no. Never. I would never hate my own family, Kion. Sure, Scar was consumed with hatred, anger, and avarice, but he is still my brother. I was sad that he took a dark turn. I never truly was angry with him. Just sad and disappointed in all he had done."
"Should I hate him?"
"No, of course not, Kion. I know that it is quite difficult, but hatred is wrong, no matter what happens or who is at fault in a situation."
"Even Inuwa? He just brainwashed my family against me."
"Yes, but he was once a regular lion before his dark transformation." Mufasa smiled again. "You cannot save everyone physically or mentally. Whether saving an animal from drowning in a lake or trying to convince them hatred is not the answer. The least you can do is save anyone while they can be saved.
"I guess Scar was one of those animals that couldn't be saved." said Kion
"Sadly, yes. It breaks my heart that Scar was beyond help with his anger and hatred consuming his own heart."
"Like I said, grandfather." Kion said, "It wasn't your fault and no one saw it coming. That's all. At least we can still see and talk to each other."
"Absolutely. Every time you call my name, I will answer. Mufasa gently nuzzled Kion with the left side of his head to show affection.
"I know. And grandfather,"
"Hmmm?"
"Thank you for helping me take down Inuwa with the other kings of the past. I needed the help. I didn't mean to say i give up. I was just so scared and I didn't know what else to do to save everyone."
"No need to apologize, Kion." said Mufasa. "it's natural. it is perfectly OK to be afraid of something."
"Well, you were one of the greatest kings, grandfather. You can't be scared of anything. You can never be scared."
Chuckling some more, Mufasa said: "I would certainly not say that, my boy. there were times when I was afraid."
"Like what?"
"When I first took the throne to rule over the Pride Lands. Fear of losing Simba forever to any predators that could try and eat him. I can get afraid when my family is in grave danger, because I worry that I would lose them forever."
