Chapter 150

.

Although there fighting outside the Capitol, president Odonnell had faith that D.C. police could control the violence. If the day ever came where an angry mob was ever able to storm the Capitol, that could very well be the end of America. For now this president would try to deliver his State of the Union address. The recent battles made this speech more neccessary that ever.

.

Odonnell: My fellow americans, as you all know, less than one month ago our country was attacked. Armies of Evil swept into our cities, slaughtered our people without mercy. Despite all of our best efforts to avoid war, it seems that war has come to us. Hell is made up of many kingdoms, some are ambitious. We do not yet know which kingdom attacked us. Although our heroic soldiers have repelled the invaders, we know that others could come without warning. We must prepare ourselves for future attacks. I can promise that I will do everything within my power to protect this world. Towards that end, we will make alliances with those who share our troubles and share our enemies. Nations with whom we have long standing grievances, those grievances must be set aside for the collective good. We will work together with Antarctica, and the superheroes who reside there. I know that many americans are oppossed to these heroes, they feel they represent too much power. But the fact is that Hell also has super powered individuals on their side. I see no reason why we should not work with powered individuals. Why we should let our enemies have weapons while we do not. I do not go into this with my eyes shut. A part of me feels that I should have made this announcement from Arlington National Cemetary. Let there be no illusions that many of the young men and women who fight in this war will not come home, except to that cemetary. I am well aware that an epic battle between so many super powered individuals could bring untold disaster upon this world. It is dangerous, but it would be more dangerous to risk being enslaved by Hell. If we can negotiate with these kingdoms we will negotiate with them. But, as Teddy Roosevelt said, "Speak softly, but carry a big stick." I truley hope that this will be our foreign policy with Hell. That our super powered allies will be a deterant and ultimately prevent further war. If it cannot, if the epic battle between Good and Evil is truley inevitable, than God helps us all.
