Chapter 152
.
Some considered Blaine to be a sociopath, but he was rational. He knew that his own well being depended on proving himself useful, including rescuing certain people from Hell. It was no coincidence that most of thse he was assigned to rescue had connections, friends and/or family with money and/or power. In finding those refugees, he had to make deals with others, promise them a safe return to Antarctica. He was able to rescue over 100 people from the list, and well over 100 others. These 243 refugees were sent back to Earth.
.
When these 243 people returned to Earth, there was mixed emotions of Earth. The Society for a Better America ofcourse was angry, encouraged it's followers to fear and hate these people. Their preachers like Walker called them abominations, that they were the servants of Hell. Amongst the Survivors for Rescue, the emotions were mixed. Some were upset that the only ones to be released from Hell were those with connections. Just another example of how the ruling class got better treatment than the proletariet. Others had hope from this. It was no suprise that the rich and powerful got this first, but perhaps their own loved ones would be rescued soon. But with the SBA continuing to make trouble for refugees, they had to be on guard from them. Violent confrontations between the SBA and the SR increased as a result of these refugees being rescued. But it seemed that these days people needed little excuse to turn to violence.
