A/N: This sort of relates to the Season 21 episode, "Garland's Baptism by Fire" but takes place now. It's a little long but I really didn't want to do another part to it. I may do a follow up chapter though. I don't own any of the characters except my own.

Guilty Conscience

Olivia was sitting in her office while the rest of the squad was out. She had been so far behind on getting her paperwork done. Someone had come into the Squadroom and walked towards her office. He knocked on the door frame, so Olivia looked up.

"Edgar. This is a surprise."

"I probably should have called first. How are you?"

"I've been ok. Some days are busier than others."

"I know how that goes. So, how's Christian as a boss?"

"He's a great boss. Much better than the last Chief we had. He had a hard time with that case involving the pastor though."

"I get it. I'm glad I recused myself from that case. It was so hard for me to believe that he would do that. You know?"

"Yeah, I know. So, what brings you here?"

"I was wondering if maybe you wanted to get coffee, have dinner, a drink or something like that with me sometime."

"Edgar Goodwin, are you asking me out on a date?"

"I might be. You're not with someone are you? I don't want to make a complete fool out of myself. We did seem to hit it off when we met at Christian and Lamai's dinner party."

"Yes, we did. To be honest, I do have someone in my life. Two someones actually. I have my 8-year old son Noah and I've been seeing someone for a little over 6 months. We've been friends for 6 years and didn't think things would work out for us because he lives in Chicago. We've worked on a few cases together. We were both fighting our feelings for each other for 5½ years when we finally decided to give a real relationship a shot. I've never had the best luck with relationships or even with men in general. My partner of 12 years up and left after he shot and killed someone. I've heard that all of a sudden he's supposed to be coming back to the NYPD and I don't really want to deal with him after all this time. I don't really care what his lame excuse it. I got over him leaving a long time ago and if he had stuck around, I wouldn't be where I am now. Hank, my boyfriend, has the same type of personality but he's not as selfish and arrogant as Elliot was. One of my exes committed suicide a year ago. He had brain cancer and was given 6 months to a year to live. He had just gotten married but he didn't want to be a burden to her. He was former NYPD and was with IAB forever. He quit IAB when we were together and went to Hostage Negotiation and then he was offered at spot working for the DA in Conviction Integrity as a Special Investigator.

"Damn! That had to have been hard."

"Yeah, it was. That was also before I met you. Hank helped get me through that as a friend and then it was 6 months later, we both decided we wanted more."

"I'm sure you have your memories though."

"Yes, I do. He took Noah and me to Paris, so I'll always have that. To answer your question, sure, I will have dinner with you."

"Great. Friday?"

"Sorry, weekends are out."

"Time with your kid?"

"No. Time with my man. We alternate a weekends as much as possible. This weekend, Noah and I are going to Chicago."

"Tomorrow?"

"That would be better."

"I'll pick you up here at 7 if that's ok?"

"That's perfect. I'll see you tomorrow at 7."

"Ok."

Edgar left and then made a reservation for dinner. The moment he left, Olivia knew she was going to regret this. She was 100% all in with her relationship with Hank but Edgar was a friend. Or was he? Something told her that he wanted more than friendship though. Why else would he be there. Sometimes she felt like she was living in hell. The only thing that had been going right for her was Hank. How much more of her job could she really take, especially if Elliot Stabler was returning to the NYPD after 10 years? He wasn't there when she needed him, so to hell with him. She no longer cared about him and she was tired of hearing people's excuses in general, so she already knew she didn't want to hear his.

Olivia finished doing her paperwork for the night and then she headed home to Noah. She got home in time to put him to bed but told Lucy that she was having dinner with a friend tomorrow night, so she needed her to stay a little longer. Lucy was fine with it and then headed home. Once she tucked Noah in, she had a quick snack. She then made sure she had her stuff together that she was taking with her to Chicago. She had noticed that Noah had his things in his suitcase already. She was glad that Noah loved Hank as much as he did. She was starting to feel guilty about agreeing to have dinner with Edgar. She got ready for bed and got into bed. Then she decided to call Hank.

"Hey.

"Hey."

"You ok?"

"I don't know. Would you be mad at me if I told you that another guy asked me to dinner?"

"Is there someone that did?"

"Yes. Remember I told you about Edgar Goodwin, the lawyer I met at Christian and Lamai's dinner party not quite a year ago?"

"Yeah."

"He came into my office and asked me to dinner."

"Let me guess, you said yes and now you feel guilty about it."

"Pretty much. A part of me thinks he wants more though."

"Benson, I trust you completely. When is this dinner?"

"Tomorrow. He wanted to go out on Friday but I told him that weekends are out because that's my time with you and I was already going to be in Chicago. I just want us to have an open and honest relationship."

"You worry too much."

"I just want this relationship to work out. I feel like we're on the same page and I don't want to mess this up."

"If he tries anything with you though, I might have to defend you."

"I don't doubt that, Sergeant. You behaving yourself?"

"I'm trying but it isn't easy."

"I can believe that."

"Have you heard any more about your ex partner's return?"

"Nope and don't I really care either. Everything was always about him and I'm sure nothing has changed. He all of a sudden has to return to the NYPD. He can kiss my ass for all I care."

"Nice attitude."

"I know he's going to start in with me about my relationship with Ed and I don't want to hear about it. When he left and had no contact with me for 10 freakin' years, he lost the right to even be my friend. I'm not so sure I can even forgive him for that. I got so tired of his shit when we worked together. I do know that he'll never be the man you are. I can't wait for this weekend and neither can Noah."

"I can't wait either."

Then Olivia started yawning.

"Get some sleep."

"Ok. I love you."

"I love you too. Enjoy your date tomorrow."

"Stop! If you don't want me to go, I won't."

"I want you to go. I'm just giving you a hard time. Did you really expect me not to?"

"I guess not. I'm going."

"Night."

"Goodnight."

Olivia hung up the phone and then went to bed. The next morning, she got up and got in the shower. She made sure Noah was up and then she fixed breakfast. They ate breakfast and then after they were done, Olivia took Noah to school. She told Noah she was having dinner with a friend, so she'd be home a little later. She kissed him goodbye and headed to the Precinct. They had a fairly slow day. Fin had come into her office.

"You were kinda quiet today, Liv. Everything ok?"

"I'm still not feeling right about Stabler returning to the NYPD. A part of me feels like he's going to try to ruin things for Hank and me. I'm finally happy. I do know that he's going to start in with me about my relationship with Ed and I'm not in the mood for that."

"As much as I never liked Tucker, he didn't deserve to end his own life like that but in a way, who really wants to be a burden to their family when they find out they have 6 months to a year to live?"

"It's been hard but everyone has been great. Even Barba, since he called me after it had happened to see how things were going and how I was."

"We all care about you."

"I know. At least I know who I can always count on."

"Do you think Stabler will still be married?"

"I don't know and I don't care. Although I think Kathy would be smart to have gotten out of that marriage. I never wanted him when we worked together and I sure as hell don't want him now. I have Hank and he makes me happy."

"Speaking of which, does he know that Edgar Goodwin asked you out?"

"You know?"

"Yeah. I got all the way home and didn't have the keys to my apartment. Phoebe had a case she was working on, so she wasn't home yet. I got out of here before you saw me."

"Yes, Hank knows. He's ok with me having dinner with him and Edgar knows I'm with someone."

"That doesn't stop some people though."

"Yeah, I know. Have I told you how grateful I am to have you in my life and always looking out for me?"

"You know, I don't think you've told me lately."

"I am, you know."

"I know. Someone has to look out for you when Voight isn't around. I need to look out for Rollins too."

"No kidding. I just wish she and Carisi would figure things out already."

"I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed that. I try lookin' out for Kat too but she always seems to want to handle things her own way."

"I've noticed that. Maybe one of these days she'll appreciate it the way Amanda and I do."

"Just doin' my job. What time is your dinner?"

"He's picking me up here at 7."

"I'll wait."

"You don't have to."

"Yeah, I do."

"Thank you."

"Yep."

Fin went back to his desk. A few hours later, Amanda and Kat had already called it a day and went home. It was getting closer to 7 and Olivia still wasn't sure she wanted to have dinner with Edgar. Edgar arrived at the Precinct and then came up. Olivia was in the washroom but Fin was still at his desk.

"Sergeant."

"Counsellor."

"I'm surprised to see you."

"Really? I'm just lookin' out for my friend and boss."

"It's just dinner. I know she has a boyfriend."

"And she's happy."

"I get that, man."

Olivia came back and she was on the phone. Once she was done, she hung up.

"Thanks for waiting with me, Fin."

"No problem. You know how to find me if you need me."

"Yes, I know. Thank you."

"Uh huh."

Fin glared at Edgar and then he left.

"Something tells me he doesn't like me very much."

"He means well but he also knows that I have had feelings for Hank a lot longer than I was willing to admit. I've been trying to avoid it this entire time and apparently so was Hank. We're on the same page, which is actually progress for me. I did tell him about this and he was surprisingly ok with it. Fin is just very protective of me and so is Hank."

"Got it. I hope we can be friends."

"I'm sure we can."

"I completely respect that you're with someone."

"I'm glad to hear that. I somehow doubt that my ex-partner would."

"He sounds like a real jerk anyway."

"Oh, yeah. He definitely was at times."

"You ready?"

"I am."

Olivia grabbed her stuff and then she and Edgar headed out. She dropped her stuff off in her SUV and then they got into Edgar's and he drove to the restaurant. When they arrived. They got out of the vehicle and went into the restaurant. They were taken to their table and then they sat down. They looked at the menu and then they had their order taken.

"Thank you for having dinner with me."

"You're welcome and thank you for being so understanding about me being in a relationship."

"I have to admit, I wasn't sure I should ask you. He's a cop too?"

"Yeah. He heads the Intelligence Unit of the Chicago Police Department. He's a Sergeant. I've been promoted twice since we've known each other."

"Wow! He's not intimidated by that?"

"It doesn't bother him at all. We've kept in tough in the time we knew each other and he knew when I was with Ed Tucker. When Hank lost his son, Ed went with me to the funeral and they became friends. I hadn't heard that much from Ed since we broke up, so I was a little surprised when I found out he was married but I knew about his prognosis before his wife did. He didn't want to be a burden to her."

"That's tough."

"It was hard for me once I found out. I told Hank right away when I found out. When I was in shock after Ed killed himself, Fin had called Hank and he got on the next flight out here. Erin, who is like a daughter to Hank, came and stayed with me until Hank got here. She has been wanting us to get together since we first met. She moved here a few years ago when she took a job with the FBI. Hank would come out to see her and he'd spend time with me as well. We had more of a friends with benefits thing and it worked for a while but then we both realized we wanted more. Hank has been my rock ever since we met. Fin has too. Fin has been there for me through a lot of crap over the years. I had doubts about my relationship with Ed since he was with IAB and Hank knew how I felt. He just didn't know that he was mostly the reason I was having doubts. I'm sorry. I don't mean to talk about my relationships so much."

"That's ok. I've never really had much luck with relationships either. I got dumped at the altar because she was actually in love with one of my friends and they were having a baby. She could have called me the night before and told me but instead she decided to make me look like a fool in front of everyone. He's the one that spoke when the pastor asked if there was anyone that objected to the union. He said he did because he had been in love with her for a while and they created a new life together. It turned out that she was 3 months pregnant at the time of the wedding. She had also spent the night before the wedding with him. Apparently she wanted me to support her financially but she wasn't going to give up screwing around. How stupid could I have been? One of her friends comforted me that night and she got pregnant as a result. We got married before Vivian was born and a couple years later, Andre was born. Our marriage lasted maybe 5 years and she hated that I was gone so much. I was in law school when we got married and then working once I took and passed the Bar. She worked but then she got a job in Chicago, so she took the kids and left. I see them maybe a couple times a year but I always have to go out there. She's the one that moved 800 miles away to make it inconvenient for me to see them. She turned out to be a real bitch."

"How old are they?"

"12 and 10. It's so hard to have a relationship with them when I'm here and they live out there. She tells me that I can be a lawyer in Illinois just as easily as I can here. That's not the point."

"When do you see them?"

"Usually in the summer and then while they're off between Christmas and New Year's. They're old enough to be able to choose whether or not they want to come out here and they want to be with me more often than they are."

"I know how difficult it is to have someone you love 800 miles away, since I'm in the same situation with Hank. We've done the best we can."

"I don't know why she won't let them come here. It's not like I abuse them or anything like that.

They continued talking and then their food arrived. About halfway through the meal, Edgar got a phone call from his daughter saying that their mother had overdosed.

"Olivia, I'm sorry but I have to go. My ex overdosed, so I need to get to Chicago to be with my kids."

"I understand."

"The police are investigating it I guess. I had no idea she was even into drugs. If I knew, I would have gotten my kids out of there."

"Edgar, don't blame yourself. My half-brother told me he was clean for 5 years and he ended up dying of a heroin overdose. The heroin was laced with fentanyl. I blame myself because I had left him a message about not contacting me ever again when he stood us up for lunch because I thought it was the last thing he had heard. It turned out he was dead before I left him the message but it still doesn't make me feel any better about it. I wouldn't be surprised if the Intelligence Unit is investigating it. That's what they do."

"Good to know. I have to go."

"Keep me updated on what's going on."

"I will."

Edgar asked for the check and then once he paid for everything, he took Olivia back to the Precinct, she thanked him for dinner and then he went home to pack before getting on a flight for Chicago. Olivia drove home. When she arrived, Noah was already in bed and Lucy was watching TV.

"Hey, Lucy."

"Hey, Liv. How was dinner with your friend?"

"It was fine. He ended up having a family emergency, so he had to leave."

"That's not good."

"No, it isn't."

Lucy got her stuff and left. Olivia went to change for bed. She hoped Edgar would keep her posted on the situation. Just as she was getting into bed, her phone rang. It was Hank.

"Hey, Babe."

"Hey. I need your help with a case."

"What's going on?"

"Our perp is raping women and killing them with large doses of fentanyl laced heroin. One of the latest vics was pretty bad. It looked like she was raped multiple times and beaten. There were also two kids in the house. A 12 year old girl and a 10 year old boy. The girl called her dad but he's out of state."

"Yeah, about that. She's Edgar's ex-wife. He's on his way there now. Do you need us out there?"

"It would help."

"Anything for you. You know that. I'll call the squad and get a flight out as soon as we can."

"Ok. Thanks."

Olivia hung up and called everyone, including Chief Garland. Fin said he'd bring Phoebe too. Christian said he had already heard from Edgar and wanted to help out in any way he could. He said he would meet them at the airport and he would make the reservations. Olivia called Lucy and asked her to come back. She told her she didn't know how long she would be gone. After she hung up with Lucy, Noah woke up and came into Olivia's bedroom.

"Mom, where are you going?"

"I need to go to Chicago for work. Hank needs our help on a case. I'm not sure how long I'll be gone. Lucy is on her way back to stay with you. I know we were supposed to go there this weekend but maybe I could convince Hank into coming back with me."

There was a knock at the door, so Olivia went to see who it was. It was Erin.

"Erin, what brings you here?"

"I just wanted to see if everything was ok."

"I'm on my way out the door to head to the airport. We need to help with a case in Chicago. Noah and I were supposed to go there this weekend."

"Maybe if you're still there or if you plan to stay longer to spend some time with Hank, I'll bring Noah out as planned, since I was planning to go anyway."

"I'm sure he'd like that. I'll cancel my reservation on the flight out there and just keep it for the return trip."

"Ok. That works."

Noah came to the door.

"Sweetie, Erin said she will bring you to Chicago as planned, since she was planning to go with us anyway."

"Ok."

Lucy arrived and then Olivia got her stuff.

"Lucy, Erin is going to take Noah to Chicago on Friday as planned, so I'm just going to stay when we're done with the case."

"Ok."

"Liv. I'll drive you to the airport."

"Ok. Thanks."

Olivia gave Erin the keys for her SUV, so she could eventually move Noah's seat into her car. Olivia kissed Noah and then they left. Erin drove her to the airport and dropped her off before heading home. Everyone met at the Terminal.

"Hey."

"Hey. Who's watching the girls?"

"I got my mom to do it."

"I got Lucy to come back. Erin is bringing Noah to Chicago as planned this weekend, so I am going to stay there once we're done with this. Phoebe, thank you for coming with us."

"No problem at all, Captain."

"Who are we waitin' on?"

"Chief Garland."

"He's comin' too?"

"Yep."

As soon as Chief Garland arrived, they checked in and headed to the gate. They showed their badges to get through security with their weapons and then they went to the gate. They sat down to wait for their flight to board.

"Captain, are you sure you didn't need a room?"

"I'm positive. I always stay with Hank."

"Ok."

"What exactly is goin' on, Liv?"

"This case relates to Edgar. His ex-wife moved to Chicago with his kids and he said he doesn't see them as much as he'd like."

"Yeah, that would be an understatement. Rhonda was a piece of work. I don't know how much you know."

"He told me the woman he was supposed to marry dumped him at the altar for one of his friends. She was 3 months pregnant with the friend's kid."

"He doesn't tell too many people about that, so he must have trusted you enough."

"Anyway when we were having dinner, he got a call from his daughter saying that her mother had overdosed. I told him that the Intelligence Unit would probably be the ones investigating it, since that is what they do. When Hank called, he said that the latest vic had been raped multiple times and beaten as well as injected with a fatal dose of heroin containing fentanyl. The other vics had been raped and injected with heroin. He didn't get into specifics but he wanted our help."

"How many kids does Edgar have?"

"He has two. Vivian is 12 and Andre is 10. Lamai and I have tried to support Edgar as much as we could over the years. He has threatened to sue her for custody multiple times but she claims that they couldn't leave the state."

"He could only see them if he came to Chicago. She told him that he could just as easily be a lawyer in Chicago like he is here. Technically she shouldn't have left the state with them without his permission."

"You're right about that. They never wanted to be with her. Vivian has wanted to come back here for a while now."

They continued talking and then they boarded the plane. A little while later, the plane took off for Chicago. Everyone fell asleep on the plane. A few hours later, they arrived in Chicago. They went to get their luggage and then they went to get the rentals. They then headed to the hotel before heading to the 21st. While everyone went to check into their hotel room, Olivia waited in the car, since she was staying at Hank's and texted him to let him know they were there. They would be heading to the District as soon as everyone else got checked in. He replied that they were there. Once everyone was checked in, they headed to the District. As soon as they got there, they all went in. The person at the desk recognized Olivia and contacted Hank, so he came down.

"Hey. Thanks for coming."

"No problem. This is Sergeant Phoebe Baker, Fin's fiancé, who's with the Vice Squad. Phoebe, this is Sergeant Hank Voight of the Intelligence Unit. Phoebe is here to help as well.

"We appreciate that and it's nice to meet you."

"You too."

"You remember Chief Christian Garland, right?"

"Yes. Nice to see you again, Chief."

"You too, Sergeant."

"Erin is bringing Noah as planned on Friday."

"Ok. Good. It'll be good to see her too."

"She was planning to come anyway."

Hank kissed Olivia, took her bag and they all went upstairs. Everyone was at their desks.

"Hey, Captain."

"Hello. Everyone, this is Officer Katronia Tamin or Kat, Deputy Chief Christian Garland, my boss and Sergeant Phoebe Baker with the Vice Squad and Fin's fiancé. This is Detective Jay Halstead, Detective Hailey Upton, Officer Adam Ruzek, Officer Kevin Atwater and Officer Kim Burgess."

"It's nice to meet all of you."

"You too."

"What's going on?"

"Edgar is at the hotel with the kids. We told him we may need them to identify suspects."

"Ok. Was it confirmed that she was raped multiple times?"

"Yeah. Here are the pics."

Hank showed them the pictures they had up.

"Some of the bruises look recent but older than the newer ones. This actually reminds Halstead and me of Nadia's autopsy photos."

"Yeah, they do and it's both front and back. The question is, is this one person doing this or are there multiple perps?"

"That's what we are trying to figure out. This one appears to be the worst of all the vics though but it's basically the same M.O. on all of them. We're waiting on the results from the various autopsies to find out what and who we are dealing with."

"Hopefully we can find who did this."

Olivia looked at the photos again.

"Did the kids see anything?"

"The girl said the perp was wearing all black, a hoodie and a ski mask but she didn't know anything else."

"He didn't do anything to her, did he?"

"No. We asked and she said no."

"I'd like to talk to her."

"Ok."

"I'll come too."

Hank, Olivia and Christian left and went to the hotel where Edgar was staying with the kids. When they arrived, they went up and knocked on the door. When Edgar opened the door, he was surprised to see both Olivia and Christian.

"Olivia, Christian, Sergeant Voight."

"Edgar, do you mind if I speak with your daughter?"

"Now isn't a good time, Captain. They both just fell asleep. She doesn't know any more than what she already told Sergeant Voight and his team."

"Ok. You know how to find me if you need to."

"Yes, I do."

"Olivia, I'll be down in a minute."

"Ok."

Hank and Olivia left and headed down to the SUV.

"All she's trying to do is help. I get this is hard for you right now but she's just doing her job."

"I get that, man but Viv is really traumatized right now."

"Olivia does this for a living, so she knows how to deal with this. Vivian might be their only hope to getting this guy."

"I know. All she saw was that he was wearing all black, a hoodie and a ski mask. Andre said he never saw anything. Maybe he just doesn't remember he saw something because he's traumatized too. This was their mother even though she was a piece of work. If I had known Rhonda was into drugs, I would have gotten those kids away from her so fast."

"I know you would. I know how much you love them and I get you're protecting them. I'd do the same if it was Abby, just like I know Captain Benson would do that for Noah and Detective Rollins would do that for her girls as well. Rhonda had no right taking your kids from you and leaving New York like she did. If she hadn't, they wouldn't be trying to adjust to life without her."

"I just want to get them home where they belong."

"I get it."

"I'll talk to her in the morning and see if she remembers anything else."

Vivian had gotten out of bed.

"Hi Uncle Christian."

"Hey there, kiddo. I am so sorry about your mom."

"Thank you. Daddy, I may have remembered something else."

"Ok. Christian, can you get Olivia back up here?"

"Sure."

Christian called Olivia and then she and Hank came back up.

"Hi Vivian. I'm Captain Benson."

"Nice to meet you."

"Please, sit down."

"Thank you."

Hank, Olivia and Christian sat down with Edgar and Vivian.

"Maybe 6 months ago, Mom started seeing this guy. His name is Roger Jackson. He seemed nice at first but he made both Andre and me uncomfortable because he did drugs a lot and he was kind of scary. It wasn't just pot. It was other things too. Mom really changed in that time. She was doing drugs herself and she basically said that Daddy was never to find out about this because then he would take us away from her. The 3 of us were a family. We've wanted to live with Dad for a while now. She ended up losing her job because she was high all the time. She was never there on time. Most of the money Daddy sent in that time went to support her drug habit. She couldn't pay rent, so instead of us being out on the streets, she was having sex with the landlord and Roger, sometimes both at the same time. Again, she said not to tell Dad. She claimed she was doing this for us. She sent us over to our friends' a lot or told us to stay in our rooms."

"What is the landlord's name?"

"Ralph Davis."

Hank sent Kevin a text with the names Vivian had given them and then once Kevin got into including the photos, he sent them to Hank, so he could show them to Vivian.

"Are these the two men?"

"Yes."

Olivia then looked at it and then Hank called Jay.

"What's up, Sarge?"

"Start looking for those two men that I just sent to Atwater. The daughter identified them as both having a connection to the mother."

Hank told Jay what Vivian had told them.

"I'll tell everyone and we'll get on it right away."

"Thanks."

Hank hung up.

"Thank you for your help, Vivian."

"You're welcome. I hope it helps. I know I should have gone against what my mom said and told my dad sooner. Maybe if I had, she would have gotten help. Is whoever did this going to come after me now?"

"Not if we can help it."

"Olivia, I apologize for the way I acted earlier."

"Don't worry about it."

"Maybe once this is all over with, we can try the dinner thing again but with our respective families, including Sergeant Voight when he's in visiting you in New York."

"Maybe."

Christian gave Edgar a look.

"Seriously, Edgar! You asked her out again? Wasn't one time enough?"

"She accepted. It was just dinner and she had told me about her boyfriend before she accepted the invitation."

"So, Daddy, you know Captain Benson?"

"Yeah, I do. I met her about a year ago at a dinner party at Uncle Christian and Aunt Lamai's. We hit it off until something happened with Rev. Chase and I defended him. Long story. I ended up apologizing and refused to defend him when I found out that he wasn't the person I thought he was. I asked Olivia to dinner tonight and she had told me that she had an 8-year old son and a boyfriend but she accepted my invitation anyway."

"She told me about it and I told her I trust her."

"That's why I asked to try again with you, her son and my kids also included. Maybe Christian, Lamai and Abby can join us as well. Maybe we could go out for pizza or something like that."

"That sounds like a plan. If you get a chance, if you like pizza, try Home Run Inn or Giordano's before you go home."

"Daddy, he's right."

"Maybe I'll have to too. Lamai, Abby and I have never been to Chicago before, so this is actually my first time here."

"Noah and I are planning to come here this summer, so maybe you and your family can come too and Hank can take you around to show you some of the sights."

"That would be nice."

Everyone said goodnight to Edgar and Vivian and then they headed back to the District.

"So, he seems nice."

"He is but I am completely all in this relationship with you. I would like to see where this friendship with him goes though."

"He's a good guy. He's just been through so much in the last several years no thanks to his ex-wife."

They got back to the District and then they went upstairs to Intelligence.

"Ralph Davis is nowhere to be seen and Roger Jackson is in the Interrogation Room."

"Who's talking to him?"

"Tutuola and Atwater."

Hank, Olivia and Christian went to watch the interrogation. The Assistant State's Attorney showed up along with the Defense Attorney.

"Olivia."

"Peter. Long time no see. I see you got your job here back."

"Yeah, I did. Mark was ok with it and I'm already used to how Intelligence does things. I still felt like I never quite grasped the SVU cases. I do want to apologize for how things worked out on the Miller case. It was wrong of me to do that. Is this case connected to one of yours?"

"We're fine. I think you meant more to me than I was willing to admit and I hope we can still be friends. No, it isn't. Hank wanted our help on this case. One of the vics is the ex-wife of a friend of my new boss."

"You must be Peter Stone."

"I am."

"I've heard a lot about you. I'm Deputy Chief Christian Garland."

"He's my boss as of a little over a year ago."

"What happened to Chief Dodds?"

"He got transferred to Staten Island and I was promoted to Captain."

"Who took over as ADA?"

"Believe it or not, Carisi."

"I knew he had passed the Bar."

"He's holding his own. Trust me on that one. Elana Barth gave up being a Judge and is now a Defense Attorney. He actually won his first case against her. Barba defended someone not too long ago and Carisi won against him and he also beat Rita Calhoun recently as well. He's gone up against some of the best. We do miss him as part of the squad, especially Rollins."

"I guess he does hold his own. Was that the case involving that one Judge?"

"Yes."

"I heard about that case. In fact it was probably from Hank."

"Noah will be here this weekend, since Erin is bringing him. He'd love to see you."

"I'd love to see him too. Is he still doing baseball?"

"He lost interest. He discovered that he loves to dance. I enrolled him in a dance class and he is actually quite good. Not this last Christmas season but the one before, he was in the middle school production of the Nutcracker."

"Wow! That's great. I was in New York in December to put decorations at everyone's graves. I thought about stopping by but I couldn't do it."

"I understand."

They listened in to the interrogation but they were getting nowhere with Jackson. They had to release him until they could prove that he was their guy. They had gotten a call about a male body that had been found in an alley and when some of Intelligence went to check it out, it turned out to be Ralph Davis. They continued investigating through the night. By the time Trudy had come in for her shift, the Medical Examiner came over with the autopsy results from Rhonda and the other victims. She brought the ME up.

"Have you been here all night?"

"Yep."

"Olivia, good to see you."

"You too."

"Is this one of your cases?"

"No. Hank called us in to help out. This is my boss, Deputy Chief Christian Garland. Chief, this is Sergeant Trudy Platt, the Desk Sergeant."

"Nice to meet you Sergeant."

"You too, Chief."

"This must be Officer Tamin."

"Yes, Ma'am."

"This is Sergeant Phoebe Baker from the NYPD Vice Squad. She's also Fin's fiancé. Phoebe, this is Sergeant Trudy Platt."

"Nice to meet you. Fin has told me about you."

"You too. Nothing good I'm sure."

"All good, Sarge. You know that."

"Yeah, sure."

Everyone laughed.

"One of the vics in this case is the ex-wife of a friend of the Chief's, so he wanted to help out."

"Ok, Doc, what's goin' on?"

"The fluids in all of the victims are a positive match to Roger Jackson and the forensics on the bullet in Ralph Davis was from a gun registered to him as well."

"Go arrest the son of a bitch!"

They went to arrest Roger Jackson but found him dead of a self-inflicted gunshot. They let Hank know and then everyone came back to the District. Hank ended up sending everyone home go get some sleep, since they had been working on the case for over 24 hours. Christian said he would let Edgar know. Everyone left and headed wherever they were going. Hank and Olivia went to Hank's and as soon as they got up to the bedroom, they fell asleep. Everyone else pretty much did the same.

Edgar had made arrangements to leave the following day with the kids, so he asked if Olivia, Hank and Christian wanted to meet them for pizza for dinner. He had also had to go to their schools to get their records, so he could get them into school once they got to New York. He also let them say goodbye to their friends and they were all invited to come visit them in New York anytime they wanted. Christian, Fin, Phoebe and Kat were leaving the next day as well. They met for dinner and agreed to do it again in New York. Vivian thanked Olivia and Hank for everything they did.

The next day arrived too quickly. Mostly everyone from New York was heading to the airport for their flight back. They told Olivia they had everything under control if she decided she wanted to stay any longer. She said she'd be home by Sunday night. Later that afternoon, Erin arrived with Noah for the weekend. Erin went to catch up with the rest of Intelligence, while Hank, Olivia and Noah met Peter for dinner. Noah was so excited to see his friend Peter again. Olivia was happy to catch up with Peter as well.

As always, the weekend went too quickly as it did every time they spent time together. Hank kissed Olivia and Noah goodbye and hugged Erin before they left for the airport. They hadn't been together all that long but Hank was starting to feel that he wanting something more permanent with Olivia and Noah. He was so proud of her for everything she has accomplished in her career and for her promotions. He had a feeling that if they eventually decided to go to the next step, he knew he'd be the one to make the move to the other city but it would be worth it just to be with them all the time.
