A/N: Because mashmaiden asked so nicely. Takes place sometime after To Live and Die in Mexico.

"Kensi no, go back. Oh my god…you need to go back!" Kensi jerked awake at the sound of Deeks shouting in his sleep. The room was dark, only lit by the flash of fireworks that came through the curtain, but she could still see Deeks twitching and shifting restlessly on the bed.

There was another explosion and his entire body jerked. Even though it was the middle of the night, people were still lighting off fireworks with the same enthusiasm they had all day long. With every bang, Deeks reacted and Kensi reached out to him, gently running her fingers through his hair.

"Baby?" The next boom sounded like someone had launched a rocket in their bedroom and Deeks suddenly flung himself forward.

"Kensi! Nooooo!" His scream made her hair stand on, sounding like it had been wrenched from the very depths of his soul.

"Deeks, baby. You're ok. It's ok," she assured him as he he continued to murmur, his eyes wide, but focused somewhere beyond her. He screamed her name again and she cupped his face between her palms, drawing his forehead against hers. "You're ok, baby. I'm ok."

His entire body shuddered as she pressed her lips to his and his hands clamped firmly on her arms. His breaths came in short, gasping huffs, like he'd just been running.

"Kensi," he whispered, his voice hoarse and uncertain. "I'm so sorry. I couldn't stop it. I tried. I told you," he babbled, his hands running up and down her arms like he was trying to memorize the feeling of her.

"It's ok, baby. I'm fine." She had no idea what he was talking about, but knew she needed to calm him down. He nodded, but didn't quite look like he believed her. Another round of explosions rocked the air and his entire body stiffened, a choking noise catching in his throat. Kensi pulled him closer and felt his heart pounding in his chest. Making sure to keep her own breathing slow and even, she gently rubbed the back of his neck, which seemed to soothe him slightly.

"I dreamed we were in Mexico," he told her a few minutes later, his voice still rough and slightly distant, like he was still caught in his dream.

"Oh my god," she whispered. Deeks didn't seem to hear her.

"I told you to get on the helicopter, but you ran to the SUV instead. I couldn't stop you and next thing I knew, they fired a rocket and it was just a ball of flame. There was nothing I could. I couldn't get to you. I couldn't save you."

"Oh, baby." She held him until his breathing and heartbeat were mostly back to normal and then asked, "What do you need?"

"Can you stay up with me?" he asked quietly, sounding shy. He shuddered at another bang. "I don't think I can go back to sleep."

"I'll stay up all night with you, if you want," she promised. He sighed, burrowing his face juncture between her neck and jaw. She'd stay up with him every night if that's what it took.

A/N: Once again, Happy 4th. I'm super cheery today.
