December 7

I've had a hard time sleeping lately. For one thing, it's really hard to get comfortable with my very pregnant stomach in the way. In addition, contractions and anxiety have been keeping me up. I just can't stop thinking about when the baby comes. One moment I'm super happy about being able to hold my baby and the next moment I'm extremely worried about giving birth. It's a never-ending cycle at this point.

I was up super early this morning, so early that the sun was just starting to rise. Inuyasha was completely passed out next to me. I couldn't go back to sleep so I just went to go make breakfast with thoughts of the baby running through my mind.

As I was making breakfast, I heard Yasha yawning as he came into the room.

"Why are you up so early?" he asked.

"I couldn't sleep," I replied.

"Are you feeling okay?"

"No worse than usual. But it's been really hard to sleep lately."

"Same here," he replied as he sat down at the table. I noticed he had his face in his hand and his eyes were half-closed.

"Honey, if you're that tired you should go back to bed," I said to him.

"I'll stay awake. Besides, I keep thinking about the baby anyway so I'll probably just end up waking up again."

I put breakfast in front of him and we ate silently, both of us lost in our own thoughts.

Then I got an idea.

"Yasha, we should do something fun."

"Like what?"

"Christmas is coming up and we still haven't put up our tree."

A smile touched his face at the sound of that. "That's true."

"Besides, I think a little holiday cheer will serve as a good distraction."

"So after we eat, I'll go get the tree…"

"Wait, you're not going to go alone?"

"I had planned to."

"I want to come with you, honey."

"Will it be too much for you?"

"Of course not. I'll be fine. Plus, I want to make sure you get the right one."

He laughed a bit. "Alright, fine."

So after we ate breakfast, we got dressed and went out to the same place we got our tree last year. After we picked out a good one, we made our way back home and set it up in the corner of the main room. The decorations we made last year were in a box in the shed so Inuyasha brought that inside and we spent some time decorating it. Once it was done, we sat on the floor in front of it admiring our work.

"It's perfect," I said.

He put his arms around me and rested his hands on my stomach. "What if the baby comes on Christmas?"

"Aww, a Christmas baby! That would be nice. It would definitely be the best Christmas gift ever."
