Jaime was on his knees, next to some other Lannister soldiers who had escaped from the burning ships only to be taken prisoner by Dany's army. One of them was Bronn.

Dany was addressing her captives, dragons perched majestically behind her. "You all should know me by now, but if you don't, my name is Daenerys Targaryen, mother of dragons and rightful queen of Westeros. You've probably heard rumors about me, warnings of the brutality I would bring. You might be afraid that I've come to Westeros to burn down your homes and murder your families, like my father once did. But I am not here to murder. I'm here to destroy the wheel of power that rolls over the rich and poor alike. I'm giving you two choices. You can stay loyal to the false king Joffrey, and for that you will be executed. Or, you can swear allegiance to me, and join me in my quest to make this world a better place than ever before. Well, what is it to be?"

Bronn struggled upright. "Cut these ropes from me, I'll serve under your colors!" He was more than willing to switch sides if it meant he would live.

It did not take long for the others to follow.

"Aye, set me loose. I'm with Bronn!"

"Me too. I'll join up with you. Better'n gettin' executed by dragonfire!"

Jaime alone remained silent. He knew that whatever leniency Dany might offer common soldiers, she wouldn't extend that deal to him, the man who had killed her father. And the Griffins were there too. They had just as much reason to want him dead.

As Jaime scanned Dany's ranks, his eyes caught Tyrion's. It was the first time the brothers had seen each other since Tyrion killed their father.

Dany now turned her gaze on Jaime. "The only question now is what we're going to do with you. When I was a child, my brother would tell me a bedtime story about the man who murdered our father. He told me other stories as well, about all the things we would do to that man, once we took back the seven kingdoms and had him in our grasp."

Tyrion tried to step in. "Perhaps you could send him to the Wall." Even though he was working against his family now, he didn't want his brother to die. In childhood, Jaime had been the only person who was kind to him.

"There's no way I'm letting him live," said Dany. "He killed my father!"

"That was because he wanted to kill my father," Jaime interjected.

Meg agreed with Dany. "Jaime Lannister tried to destroy my family the same way he did Daenerys's. He pushed my brother Stewie out a window and attacked my father in the streets. He needs to die."

Jaime stood up. "If it's an apology you're seeking, you won't get it. Everything I did, I did for House Lannister, and I'd do it all again! At least I've never betrayed my own family," he snapped, shooting a glare at Tyrion.

"If I had any pity for you, that little speech of yours just killed it," Dany said coldly. "I, Daenerys of House Targaryen, first of my name, breaker of chains, and mother of dragons, sentence you to die!"

She was about to say "Dracarys," but before she could, Jaime suddenly fell down as his legs collapsed beneath him! Everyone stared as his clothes ripped and fell off, along with the ropes that bound him. Each of his legs split in half and turned into tentacles, just like the one he had for an arm. His remaining human arm became a tentacle too. The transplant Qyburn had given him had now taken over his entire body. The only human part left of him was his head. From the neck down, he had become a full-on octopus! He looked like a male version of Ursula from the Little Mermaid.

The other people on the beach were too stunned to move or speak for a moment. Jaime himself was as shocked as anyone, but he took advantage of the confusion, slithering down the beach toward the water.

Seeing him escape, Dany regained her voice and shouted "Dracarys!" But it was too late. Drogon fired a blast at Jaime, but he managed to dodge it. By then, he was at the edge of the shore. He dropped into the water and disappeared into the ocean, out of reach of the mother of dragons.
