December 25

Moroha has become our new alarm clock. We were up early with her again today and as I sat in bed feeding her Inuyasha played with her toes.

"Her feet are so little," he commented. "Look, they're smaller than my pinkie finger."

I laughed a little bit. "That makes them even cuter."

He sat up and kissed me. "Today is Christmas."

"Are you ready to open your gifts?"

"I've been ready for weeks."

"You're like a little kid. I've seen you poking around trying to guess what's in them."

"I'd imagine that it's the most suspenseful thing in the world to be a kid this time of year wondering what you're going to get."

"Yup, and then you have to be good or else Santa won't bring you any gifts."

"This whole Santa Claus thing doesn't make any sense, Kagome."

"Why not?"

"You mean to tell me this one guy is supposed to go to every house in the world in one night? How does he get there fast enough? And how does he have enough space to carry all of those gifts?"

"Well…"

"And then he watches you all year to make sure you're good? Isn't that a little bit stalkerish?"

"It's just a story, Yasha."

"I think it's more of a creepy story than a nice one. Especially that song you mentioned; 'he sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake.' That's freaky as hell."

"I will admit that they could have worded that a little better." Moroha finished eating and I put her on my shoulder to burp her.

"Are you ready for your gifts, Moroha?" Inuyasha said. "Lucky you, your birthday is right before Christmas so you'll always get twice as many gifts."

Nico meowed and crawled into bed with us. Inuyasha rubbed his head. "You're going to get gifts too."

"Let's go open them up," I said.

We went into the living room and sat in front of our Christmas tree.

"The tree is a lot more crowded this year," Inuyasha said.

"I love it," I replied. "A year later we have our own family."

"And Moroha is the best Christmas gift we could have asked for," Inuyasha said as he kissed her cheek.

At that, she smiled a bit.

"Aww, you're such a cutie!" I said as I hugged her.

We opened our gifts and I made us a special Christmas breakfast then we spent the rest of the day at home relaxing.

This evening I noticed that it was snowing when I walked past the window. "Look Moroha, isn't it pretty? Do you want to go see it?" I then wrapped her in a warm blanket and took her out onto the front porch to see the snow. "Look at that."

I laughed as she reached out and tried to grab a snowflake. Her intrigue with everything is so adorable.

I started to gently rock her as we watched the snow and a song came to my mind.

"Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? In the lane, snow is glistening. A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight, walking in a winter wonderland."

Inuyasha stepped outside. "What are you doing?"

"Enjoying the snow," I replied. I started to sing another song. "Have a holly jolly Christmas. It's the best time of the year. Ho, ho, the mistletoe, hung where you can see. Somebody waits for you, kiss her once for me."

I giggled as Inuyasha kissed me.

"That's a cute song," he replied, wrapping his arms around my waist.

"There are a lot of Christmas songs in my era." I looked down and Moroha and noticed her starting to nod off. "Have yourself a merry little Christmas. Let your heart be light. From now on our troubles will be out of sight."

"I like that one," Inuyasha said. He ran his fingers across Moroha's cheek as she was falling asleep. "She's had a long day. Let's bring her back inside."
