Scipio's Log: Entry 86 - Woe to us all

"The information Reaper has uncovered is most troubling, to say the least. He was able to ID Wraith using his facial-recognition scanners to pinpoint him on Onderon. The problem is he was actively aiding the rebels, the Jedi and that mercenary band... the Titans.

"Why he would ever do such a thing boggles my mind. Where did I go wrong? What did I do so poorly as to result in this? He's... He's..."

...

"I noticed his eyes. They were green and humanoid. I've seen them only once before... a long time ago. That must mean that there's something wrong with his head, whatever I did all those years ago has come undone... and now there's no way I can fix it." *sigh* "Stars above, why has such misfortune come upon us?"

...

"I am grateful for Reaper's understanding in this matter. He is a good man, one capable of such simple and yet meaningful thought as well as such mature wisdom. That is more than I can say for the other super-soldiers. Personalities aside, they're a boisterous and bloodthirsty lot, always spoiling for a fight it would seem. And yet their behavior is often... rather rowdy once they return from combat.

"In a joint analysis with the surviving oversees from the Xagobah program, we have collectively deduced that with the genetic modification and biological enhancements (for the same measures were applied to all of the 'second wave' of super-soldiers), there was an accidental adjustment made to mesolimbic dopamine pathway resulting in something of a hormone imbalance. The ambient brain chemicals and neurotransmitters which fuel the super-soldiers' adrenaline and heightened 'fight' response often remain active in the brain even when removed from a combat situation. As such, these super-soldiers are often running on a 'high' when they return that somehow translates into, well, a need that the mind's 'reward pathway' interprets in a very significant and signature manner.

"In other words, they need to blow off steam. And they usually do so by... fornicating. A lot."

...

"Wraith was never like that. A straightforward, everyday man in terms of bodily function, yes, but there was never anything excessive about him. Finding out what these super-soldiers are up to in their downtime is... well..." *sigh* "it reminds of how different Wraith was and how much more I miss him with every passing day.

"There are some times where I take a moment to be alone in his empty room. To gaze upon his few untouched belongings, the bed where he would sleep off his injuries, even the odd spare piece of equipment. He has a helmet in there, and I look upon it and I wish his head were in it."

...

...

"Reaper is not like those other super-soldiers and it is my opinion we need more like him. In fact, we might soon enough. Project Bloodhound is proceeding according to plan and the subject in question is already on his way to becoming a powerful super-soldier. Hopefully, he will bring back that evenness we've been missing."

...

"And yet... he will never replace Wraith.

"Do come home, my dear boy. And come home soon."
