Harry and his Brainy Girls

I don't own Harry Potter at all

A/N: right, so this is my very first ever Morag McDougal one. I can't believe after all these chaps I've done that I missed her. I apologize for that.

Chapter 205: Morag McDougal

Morag McDougal had auburn had hair that had more red than brown in it and was slightly curled with pale blue eyes. She hated when it got humid since it made her hair curl even more and she didn't like that at all. She never thought of herself as a looker or anything. She wasn't anything special. Her body was average from top to bottom. She knew this from research. A Ravenclaw liked to do research after all. As for her height, she was slightly below average, but still taller than her good friend Su Li who's the shortest of their year. A fact that she liked to tease Su with from time to time.

So with all of this it was surprising when Harry Potter asked her out on a date. She was so shocked it took her a few moments for her brain to engage and give an answer which sounded more high pitch than she intended. Definitely much higher tone than her normal speaking voice for sure. Thankfully Harry didn't seem to mind this.

As for the date, well, Morag probably went through her whole wardrobe she brought to Hogwarts which wasn't all of it of course given the majority of her clothes were at home. Her good friend Su helped her pick an outfit and Morag still was second guessing it until Harry told her she looked great. That was kind of validation that she made the right choice. Again she had to mentally thank Su for assisting her. A small part of her wondering why she needs to have this seal of approval, but then a voice spoke from her irrational side with the words, 'you're on a date with Harry Potter'. Yup, that justifies everything.

Like all first dates there was that awkwardness that permeated, but it slowly melted away as Morag and Harry chatted with one another in any subject. Harry was one to listen and contribute if he could, but mostly listen. It gave Morag a nice buzz since Harry wasn't doing lip service. He was putting effort into learning about her and her likes.

This made her forget all about her nerves she had. Harry erased them being so, well, Harry. That was it. This wasn't the Boy-Who-Lived, the Chosen One. No, it was just plain simple Harry Potter. And that made him more charming and endearing than any of his titles he had or that have been conjured up. In fact the date was going quite well that it made Morag wonder what the heck was Chang's deal when she complained about her horrible date with Harry back in her fifth year.

Harry was a great date really. He was attentive to her and that always made a girl feel good. They avoided Madam Puddifoot's due to Harry's bad experience with it. She wasn't much of a fan of the place either. They went to Three Broomsticks and Harry surprised her by getting them a private room for them. That was quite a surprise.

"You probably do this for all the girls you date" Morag said trying to add some humor.

"No. You're the first and you probably know my dating history" Harry said, "actually I didn't know they had any private rooms here until I was told."

Morag was flattered hearing this. She didn't know about the private rooms though as students they weren't something used a lot by them. And she of course knew of Harry's dating history. Everyone in Hogwarts knew what Harry's status was.

After eating they shopped though their pickings were slim since they were in Hogsmeade. But they had fun all the same.

After that Morag seemed to have a date with Harry at least once a month. She loved it. Harry was a really good boyfriend. Yes, boyfriend. Though neither outwardly declared it it was there. Harry didn't want to put a bigger target on Morag's back and Morag wasn't one to gather attention to herself. Though that in itself was idiotic since though the two didn't do the typical couple thing they were just that. A couple.

They didn't even have their first kiss until their fourth date.

"Um, is it alright if I kiss you?" Harry asked awkwardly.

Morag's heart raced hearing this.

"S-s-s-sure" she stuttered out.

They kissed and it was as clumsy as it could be. But Morag would think it was heaven even if they had bumped their noses since they had tilted their heads in the same direction at first.

Harry didn't care to do much PDA and Morag felt the same. They'd hold hands and kiss though always as far away from prying eyes as they could. They studied together in the library and such, but since they were in different houses that limited their interactions with one another and they couldn't do much under the watchful eyes of professors during classes. But whatever free time they had they'd spend together.

One date was in the Room of Requirements. They dined there then the room changed to provide a dance floor for them. Harry apologized in advance for stepping on her toes. He hadn't had much of chance to really work on his dancing skills since the Yule Ball.

To Morag it was still a wonderful evening though she had to use a numbing charm on her feet. She floated all the way back to the dorms that night and Su commented on her goofy smile that stuck until late afternoon the next day.

Then everything changed.

Dumbledore died, Death Eaters invaded the castle. Morag was one of the few who had answered Hermione's desperate calls.

It was after Dumbledore's funeral that a crossroads appeared.

"Morag" Harry began.

Morag knew what was going to happen, but she wasn't going to let it.

"No Harry" she said firmly. "We're in this together, both of us."

Harry looked a bit taken back at this and opened his mouth to retort.

"Harry, I know the dangers, known the dangers of being close to you would be. I'm a Ravenclaw, I don't just jump into things. I also know that us breaking up won't do any good. I'll still be in danger no matter what. So let me come with you wherever you go. I might be of help. Hermione can only do so much and she could probably need a hand though she'd never admit it" Morag said.

Harry ran a hand through his hair. He saw the determined look on Morag's face and for the life of him he didn't have the urge to push her away. He actually felt happy with Morag, really happy. The happiest he's been in a while. After a crappy fifth year this year was a stellar one. Granted, he had the thing with trying to figure out what Malfoy was up to, Dumbledore teaching him about Riddle's past which he had no clue what the point of that was. But he was able fit in dating a girl into all of this and make it all work. Something Harry wasn't used to, having his life work as he wanted it.

"Fine" he said.

Morag smiled.

Morag was read into the Horcrux hunt as well as what the prophecy actually said along with other things. Though she and Harry have been together he never talked about his past adventures and she never inquired about them feeling if he wanted to talk about them he would. She'd just be patient.

Her inclusion seemed to shift things within the trio. Hermione was accepting of her though Ron complained about Harry being able to have his girlfriend with them and why he couldn't. Morag wanted to sock him in the mouth, but instead she used her words.

"Well since this is Harry's mission and it's his job to finally finish off Riddle for good then I think he deserves some perks. Besides, I'm not here to just be arm candy or something. I'll be helping in every way I can" she said.

Ron blustered and turned red as his temper rose. Morag just let him burn through it. She had a few relatives like this so she knew how to deal with them when they were like this.

Hermione marveled at this and was now quite happy that Morag was going with them.

/Scene Break/

At Bill and Fleur's wedding Morag was Harry's date, but she could feel Molly Weasley's eyes on her. Judging her and found her wanting. Hermione had told her in private how Molly wanted Ginny to be with Harry. Morag snorted at this. She and Hermione have had a few conversations even before all of this. She couldn't see Ginny and Harry together since they had nothing really in common and barely knew one another except the connection with Ron, the redhead being Ginny's brother and he being Harry's best friend. That was it. Oh, well and Quidditch, but you couldn't make a relationship work with just that.

Morag enjoyed dancing in Harry's arms during the reception. Harry had gotten better dancing and Morag only had to numb her feet twice. It felt so magical really and that's saying something. It all came to a crushing end when a man named Kingsley appeared wounded and cried out that the Ministry of Magic had fallen. This made the four quickly pack and leave since it was no good to sit around.

The Horcrux hunt wasn't as tiring or horrible as once thought. They didn't need to camp out in a tent. Though Hermione nabbed one from Mr. Weasley just in case. No, Morag knew a family member who had a small cabin they could use for their excursion. The cabin wasn't used much, but what helped was Morag had access to an elf that could get them books if they needed it.

Hermione was slightly miffed about the house elf til Morag gave her a bit of a history lesson.

But even with all of this assistance the Horcrux hunt was still slow, almost agonizingly slow. Mainly since no one has actually done real research on Horcruxes. Everything written about them that they had was speculation and hearsay. But it was more than what they had to begin with so there was that.

They found Slytherin's Locket by happenstance really. They hopped to Grimmauld Place before making the jump to the cabin and stumbled upon it. After some talks with Harry Morag concluded that the diary that Harry destroyed in second year was one. Hermione concurred with Morag's theory.

Morag and Hermione deduced it had to be a magical number like 3, 7 or 9. Those numbers held some significance to magic. Then figuring out what objects were being used by Riddle to house pieces of his soul. It seemed Riddle had a thing for the Founders and used items belonging to them as his soul containers. They just needed to figure out what items, legitimate items that had belong to the founders Riddle might've used. After a lengthy process of elimination they found a good list to work with.

Destroying a Horcrux was another matter since not much is really known as to how. It was Morag who came up with a solution though.

"Your brother, the one who just got married. He's a curse breaker, right?" Morag asked Ron.

"Uh, yeah, why?" Ron asked confused.

"He might know how to destroy these things. I'm sure they might've encounter something like this in Egypt since those pharaoh were all big on living forever" Morag explained.

Hermione looked agape.

"Ron, I think you better write Bill a letter" Harry said.

Ron just nodded and pulled out some parchment and began scrawling.

/Scene Break/

Their meeting with Bill was more than enlightening. He knew exactly what a Horcrux was since he had dealt with them in Egypt. He was furious at being left in the dark since he knew how dangerous these things were. So with Bill aiding them along with Fleur since she wasn't going to let Bill do it on his own and she's also a curse breaker herself they got to work. With Bill's assistance the locket was cleansed. As the group continued on their search the wizarding world slowly crept closer to darkness.

The Final Battle, Hogwarts

The fighting was fierce. Morag fought with all of her heart. She had something to live for. Harry. During their hunt they also trained for this moment.

Harry and Morag's feelings for each other grew through their time during the Horcrux hunt. Hermione gave them space for it. Even dragging Ron away at times since he didn't get the hint. When Bill and Fleur were added in then they helped out giving the couple time alone together. Morag would always appreciate the three of them for that.

Harry had gone off to end Voldemort once and for all while every member of the light fought. Hogwarts being their last stand. The battle kept going without end it felt. Neither really losing ground since both sides weren't using kiddy gloves. Morag had no clue how long it went on since everything was blending together. But when Harry came back with the head of Voldemort in one hand and the Sword of Gryffindor in the other the dark side gave up.

The aftermath of the war was again long though that was through burials, tributes and trials. This time there'd be no gold exchanging hands, no 'I was under the Imperius curse' gibberish. Everyone who were either dark sympathizers or outright supporters were tried and depending on their culpability a suitable punishment was met out.

That meant the wedding was on hold. Harry proposed to Morag just a week after the Final Battle. She enthusiastically said yes.

Their wedding was huge much to Harry and Morag's objections. They wanted something small, simple with just family and friends. But it had to be big since it was the wizarding world's savior. It couldn't be anything less.

Thankfully after the wedding Harry portkeyed them to a private Potter island away from the press and everyone else. Nine months after that the Potters had their first born. Named Lily Alisa Potter. Lily after Harry's mom and Alisa after Morag's. Hermione was Lily's godmother. After that they had four other kids Annag Luna, Owen Remus and a set of twins named Sophie Anabel and Sirius James.

Harry would end up teaching DADA at Hogwarts while Morag became a spell creator with Hermione.

End

A/N: right, so this one was difficult to start, but then when I got something I wrote it all out fairly quickly. Then I added certain things like details as well as corrections afterwards to tighten it all up. Thanks for reading and please review.
