Family of Two.
Chapter 222: Lincoln and Sam, moments of emotions.
(March 26. The Loud House.)
The morning is up, and we now see Lincoln and Sam in the dining room and with them are Michelle and Delilah and the duo are enjoying some breakfast, but Lincoln is very silent and looking very upset.
They all know that the boy is still upset with what had happened to Luna, his mother and that he is truly depressed knowing that she hasn't woken up yet, and last night, he has a nightmare where Luna died and it took a lot of comfort from Sam to calm him down and get him back to sleep.
The bond and love he has for Luna is what keeps him truly stable and okay, because of the moment last year when she helped him out of the bad luck mess and saved him countless times since they became mother and son, it hurts him more when Luna is wounded or not doing well.
Michelle then speaks. "Well, Sam you can spend the day here with Lincoln, or at someplace else, because Delilah and I are gonna be at Reiningers, it's take your kid to work day and I'm pretty much the only grown up with a kid."
Delilah drinks her orange juice. "Some part of me thinks that this is some way for Mrs. Carmichael is looking for a good babysitter and I think I could take care of her little kid, Conner."
Sam nods. "Yeah, that sounds fine." She then looks to the snow-haired boy. "What do you think Linc?"
Lincoln eats his bacon and he nods. "Yeah, okay. I'm alright with it, I guess."
They all notice this, even Harriet. Lincoln is in deep depression, with what happened to Luna and is not looking like his usual self, and its spring break, he should be enjoying it. But to Lincoln. 'What the point enjoying this week if my mom isn't here with…. With me!'
The boy stops eating and fresh tears come down his face, Sam sees this and hugs the boy and he hugs her back and begins to sob. This is not like the Lincoln who had to go through 3 days without Luna due to her time of the month, this is a Lincoln who is hurt from the pain his mom had to go through.
The rest of the family sees this and goes over to comfort him. He needs the support and the comfort after what he had to witness.
(Later.)
After breakfast, Sam is now in the kitchen and she puts her dishes away and she leans onto the counter and thinks about what to do. 'The little dude is one heck of a mess and he needs someone to help him see that everything is gonna be alright.'
'Even with the comforting words that I spoke of, and even though he seemed calm and understanding about the whole ordeal, his mind is troubled and is going through some kind of conflict after what he had to witness. Lincoln is scarred, and seeing Luna go through torture right before his eyes has made the trigger to the gun, and thus he's going to blast like a bullet and lose his cool. I gotta be there for him.'
Michelle then enters the room. "Hey Sam."
Sam snaps out of her thoughts and sees the woman. "Hi Michelle. Sorry, I'll wash the dishes and…"
"No, I'll handle that. You need to try and pull Lincoln back together, the kid's a mess and he doesn't seem to be doing great, and I can tell that deep down, he's blaming himself and I speak from experience of the whole ordeal that he has been through" replied Michelle.
"After losing my parents and not being there to speak on their behalf at the funeral, I went through some hard times and blamed myself for the outcome and that road is not an easy thing to patch up and would require a ton of time to endure, but the scars still remain."
Sam then asks. "But, are you still haunted by that dark path of doubt and fear?"
Michelle shakes her head in denial. "Used to, but not anymore. Why? Because I found the family that took me in, the family who let me see redemption and rekindle what I lost. I may have lost the folks who brought me into this world, but they would be dang proud of the family that I am part of, and super proud of the girl I took in to also feel to be one with a family."
Sam smiles. "Yeah, I guess that makes sense and I will do what I can to help him, I know you're gonna be busy today. Thanks for the talk."
"No problem Sam." Michelle goes over and hugs her, and Sam returns the embrace. "I see you as a part of this family as well, and when the future brings it, then you will be part of this family."
That is something Sam is looking forward to.
(Later.)
Sam makes it to the bedroom and she sees Lincoln in his day clothes and looking ready for the day, even though he feels as if he shouldn't leave and wait for the message of Luna's awakening.
Sam walks into the room and she sits next to him on the lower bunk, as the boy fiddles with the acoustic guitar. "Lincoln, you know you can't stay cooped up in here forever, you know that right?"
Lincoln nods. "Yeah, I know. Just, didn't think I would have anything to do throughout spring break." He puts his guitar away and sighs. A sigh so sad, heck it might rival to that from Lucy.
Lincoln then looks to the blonde musical teen. "So, what's on the agenda for the both of us today, Mom?"
Sam smiles hearing him say that, she always likes it when he calls her by that name, and as always, it felt good. Like how Luna always feels. "Alright kiddo, let's go and get ourselves ready for an awesome day at the park, just you and me, Linc."
(Outside.)
Harriet goes through the mail in the mailbox and she sees some letters and almost all of them are from the rest of the former loud family members: Lori, Leni, Luan, Lynn, Lynn Sr and Rita.
Seeing this makes her smile. 'They should check these out once Luna is back on her feet, because she'll wanna be part of this.'
(Ketcham Park.)
We now go to the one park that is normally visited by the locals of Royal Woods and this is where Lincoln and Sam are now, the duo underneath the shade of the tree by the benches. They both finished some fun time by the swings and the nearby pond.
Lincoln seemed calm and clear when they were having fun, and Sam was happy to see that from him, but then it all ended and now he's upset again. Sam notices this and is now concerned once more.
"Lincoln, I know how you're feeling. Everything, no matter how many times you're told that every little thing is gonna be alright, won't be a true promise that would last long" said Sam.
But before she could say anything, Lincoln speaks. "I know, I know. Those words, the ones that mom speak to me at times, I know those are promises that are hard to keep, and that's why they help make me feel better, and comfort me that we'll have some days with no trouble at all."
He then looks to the necklace in his hand. "But that wouldn't last long, not until something bad pops up and makes things harder for us to handle, and we've all had our fair share of that conflict, almost every time."
Lincoln sheds a lone tear. "Mom said he would keep me safe, help me when I need help or support, be there when I need comfort or someone to talk to, and always try her best to see me happy, but I wanna do the same and be there for her, and yet I wasn't and she got hurt."
Sam is about to say something, but Lincoln interrupts. "Yet, I know the whole thing was not my fault, and yet I feel like it is. Mom, risks so much for me and either of us gets harmed or worse, and then we have to try to cope and pick up the pieces, and we always do that."
Lincoln then hugs Sam. "I know that you wanna help me and I totally understand that Sam, you'd always be there for the boy who you see as your kid and that's the sole reason why I also see you as my mom, as I do with Luna for a long, long time. Because you both have the compassion to keep the family safe, alive and together, always."
Sam is surprised that he knew what she was planning to do and this makes her smile. 'Lincoln sure is one wise and smart kid, he already knows what I would say next and he truly does understand the heaviness of the situation at hand.'
Sam returns the hug and does her best to comfort the upset white-haired boy, but the moment is interrupted by someone calling them. Sam answers her phone. "What?"
Lincoln notices her surprised look. "What? Really? Okay, we'll be there soon." Sam puts her phone away and she sees Lincoln who is confused. "Linc, Luna's awake."
Lincoln goes wide eyed and smiles. "Then let's go!" The duo head out of the park and race towards Sam's truck and they drive off to the Royal Woods Hospital.
(Royal Woods General Hospital.)
At the hospital, Lincoln and Sam go through the doors of the room and then they see her, sitting up on the bed and breathing properly without the need of the breathing mask, Luna Loud.
Luna has some tears and smiles. "Hey, Linc."
Lincoln takes the moment to look at her, she's fine and doing alright and the smile that he's seen the many times he was saved from that dreadful Squirrel suit.
Lincoln doesn't hesitate and he runs over and hugs Luna and he cries into her chest, Luna smiles and also returns the embrace and sheds some tears. "Shhh, no more tears now. We're okay now, we're back again, kiddo."
"I… I missed you s-so much, mom. I thought you would…. wouldn't ever wake up."
Luna strokes his white hair and kisses his forehead. "Well, I'm awake and there's no need to feel bad kiddo, we're back together and no way to hell is there anything that's gonna mess with us again. We're gonna be alright Linc, as always."
Luna and Lincoln stay in this embrace and don't let go, Sam goes over and she joins in this as well. "Thank goodness you're okay Luna, we're so glad you're back." She too sheds some tears seeing her girlfriend back on her feet.
Luna smiles and kisses her cheek. "Thank you Sam, for being there for Linc."
Sam smiles. "I'll be there for both of you, we're a family, always."
They all stay like this, in each other's embrace and company, glad that the family is back together and to Luna and Sam, this feels like a dream they had, a dream where a grownup Luna and Sam are embracing a newborn Lincoln in their arms.
They don't even notice the rest of the family seeing them: Albert. Harriet, Michelle, Delilah, The Rosato's and the rest of the Sharp family. They have all come and are happy to see Luna Loud, is back in action and there for her son once again.
A/N: Just another small moment to talk with Sam and Lincoln, and now Luna is back on her feet, and now they just need to deal with whatever comes next, and what comes next tomorrow is the Royal Woods Go-Kart Grand Prix! Leave a review and tell me what you all think.
