Flinging the window open, Kagome half leans out, searching the dark. She knows he's there; nerve endings fire as if he were touching her himself. Yet, there's no sight of him.
Her shoulders sag, something deep and hollow carving out space in her chest.
Please.
Dropping her head, Kagome feels the spark of her power surge, reach out. "Please, don't leave."
Minutes go by, and there's only the sound of the wind in the trees. But then, it changes, and like a breath, it whispers past her window.
