Anonymous asked: I don't remember if you've done this before but Original!Klaroline in the 20s

"You are not," Caroline enunciated clearly, leaning forward over the bar to fill his field of vision, "laying a finger on Marcel. If I see your hand so much as twitch toward a dagger for Rebekah," she snapped, stabbing the lemon she was meant to be peeling, "I will make you regret it."

Klaus lifted an eyebrow, unimpressed. "You said that about leaving Kol in his coffin, and yet, I regret nothing."

But she shook her head, deadly serious. "Do not test me, Niklaus," she breathed, mindful of the audience pretending not to pay attention to their spat. The club had been her idea, and she usually loved being the center of attention as she doled out drinks or sang her heart out on stage. Now, though, she could kill anyone for even looking in her direction - her husband included. "You're not the only one who gets to have a happily ever after."

That had him straightening himself on the stool, his cravat stained with sweat. While it could be blamed on the stifling heat of New Orleans, she recognized the barest scent of his fear. "What's mine is yours, is it not?"

"Is it?" She let the question and its implications linger between them, her uncharacteristic silence speaking volumes. Turning her back to him, she focused on polishing the glasses. In the mirrored bar sign, she caught Elijah's eyes over his wary approach. "I doubt I can do anything to save them. Perhaps you'll have more luck."

"Sweetheart-"

She scowled at Elijah, ignoring her ass of a husband completely. "I have inventory to do. Talk some sense into him before I have to make him understand." Storming off, she tried not to listen as Klaus raged behind her, all about loyalty and betrayal. Ironic, wasn't it, that he was whining to the brother entrusted in executing her emergency plan should Klaus refuse to see reason.

Though she had the dubious honor of never being on the pointy end of his daggers, she had no qualms sacrificing that streak if it saved Marcel and Rebekah the pain of going it alone. The world was growing bigger every century, and Caroline didn't relish the idea of missing them for Klaus's stupid power trip.

If she had to be daggered and hidden away to make him understand, that was a price she was willing to pay. The gods know she could use a nap from his temper tantrums.
